  • Nice, it is in stock.

  • Just holding for a deal on a 6800xt.

  • Still waiting on them to process my order on this very card from two weeks ago.

    • +1

      oof that sucks.

      • +1

These guys must be so shady. Umart can do same day dispatch AND delivery. If somebody has been waiting for 2 weeks and the website says 5 days processing AFTER payment then they obviously do not have stock in Aus.

        • I ordered an AIO from them and no update for about a week. Then got shipping notification and it arrived the next day.

  • Is 6600XT performs better than 5700XT?

    • +4

Marginally at 1080p, and it evens out or even starts to lose in some titles at 1440p and the 4k (which this card really isn't for anyway), more of a sidegrade to a 5700XT owner.

      • I'd say downgrade due to the reduced mining performance and need for PCIe 4.0.

        • Definitely, some extra nuances to consider with it for sure. I think it's an efficient mining card though, something like 30mh/s @ 55w iirc.

          • @foxpants: At least for me in Melbourne power is quite cheap and it'd be more profitable for me to run 400W at 50MH/s vs 55W at 30MH/s, not that the 5700 XT is that inefficient though. It depends greatly on the cost of electricity.

  • Is there any decent deals on RTX 3060 Ti? I find that AMD GPU seem to be in stock more often. For Nividia GPU, nearly always out of stock when click the deal link.

    • +1

I recommend do some searching yourself

  • +1

I just read and realised that a used RX 580 8GB is selling for around $600 on Ebay/Gumtree. Does anyone know realistically how much I could sell my used Sapphire RX 580 Nitro 8GB for on Ebay/Gumtree/Marketplace? It had been used for light gaming by the kids and I want to upgrade it to this RX 6600 XT as a bribe for good behaviour/Christmas present.

    • +1

600 a bit too much for rx580. I bought a used one for 400 a month ago. Prices have gone up a bit, but NVIDIA cards are still selling higher. I'd say you'll get 500 for yours

      • Thanks mate. Yeah $600 is just the asking price and there is an obvious reason why it hasn't been sold. I will try and sell it for $500. Kinda crazy a card that I was expecting to be worth $150 after 3 years of purchase is somehow worth almost double. Cryptomadness.

        • +1

You can see sold listings on eBay via advanced search, looks like you can get $500+ for an RX580 8GB. Its not just crypto madness, that along with lack of supply due to chip shortages and COVID.

          • @opt: Thanks for the info.

  • Will this be an upgrade from 1070? Is it as simple as swapping that one with this? Sorry I am noob.

    • Also, what are the 6600XT and 6800XT equivalent to in the Nvidia world?

      • -4

        I'd say 6600xt will be 3060.
        6800xt 3070 ti
        6900xt 3090

        • +3

yikes, 6800 xt beats 3080 but ok

      • +8

        6600XT = 2070 Super, 2080, 1080Ti, somewhere between a 3060 and 3060Ti.
        6800XT = RTX3080

Mind you that's somewhat of an oversimplification, and looking at normal (rasterization) graphics, there are nuances to consider like Radeons coming with generally healthier VRAM amounts per teir, being a bit more power efficient and coping better when CPU limited, and Nvidia 30 series having stronger Ray Tracing performance (by a lot) and DLSS (RTX series only), CUDA, NVENC.

One thing to also consider would be gaming resolution, the Radeons are stronger the lower the resolution (1080p for sure, less so but still generally true at 1440p) relative to their Nvidia counterpart, and that lead diminishes and even reverses at 4k 'depending'.

        • +1

This is a pretty objective assessment that most people here should trust

          • @RageofAsmongold: Cheers, quite the enthusiast myself, and there are definitely things to consider when purchasing either brand. Another pertinent point actually would be that virtually and RX6000 or RTX30 series card bought at (or at least very close to) MSRP, would be a better deal than an ostensibly better competitor bought at an inflated price

    • +3

Yes, 1070 to 6600xt is a big upgrade with around 1.5-2x the performance, and will use 2/3 the electricity.

  • Stay away if you want to play on 3840 x 2160 resolution
This card lags PC as hell, black screens everynow and again
Had this for less than a week - regret selling my 3060 for it

    • +4

why did you sell a 3060 for this?

      • Because I'm dumb and fell for all the positive talk about the 6600xt and how it's better than the 3060 etc…

Also had a freesync monitor and CPU so wanted all things to go amd but what a disappointment when I plugged the card in lol

    • Can I ask if your motherboard supports the PCIe 4 slot for the card? Cause the 3060 still used PCIe 3

      • It's a b450 so I guess it doesn't support pcie4 but still the 3060 never lagged when I wanted to multitask while gaming.

Overall i think this card is below the 3060 for sure

        • +1

PCIE 3 to 4 is only a ~5% on average performance loss.

Something isn't right if you're getting worse performance with the 6600xt. Benchmarks across the web put it ahead of the 3060 in almost all metrics (apart from ray tracing) and resolutions.

Have you used Afterburner or other GPU monitoring utility to make sure it's running at the right clockspeed? Did you use DDU to make sure all the Nvidia drivers/registry entries were uninstalled? If so perhaps try and format and reinstall of Windows.

          • @studentl0an: Tried that - still choppy / flickers when playing COD

Do you think it has to do with the PCIe slot? Currently GPU-Z reports that it is running PCIe x8 3.0. Should it be x16?

            • @alz: It only runs at 8x.

@1:12 in the below video it compares the 6600xt (both pcie 3 and 4) vs the 3060 in COD Warzone and the 6600xt is well ahead of the 3060 at 1080p and 1440p (4K not tested, which is what you are running at)
              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sQoTbI_aFQ

I can't find a benchmark comparing the result at 4K, but the 6600xt has a very solid lead over the 3060 in COD Warzone at 1080 and 1440p across multiple other people's findings too.

Can you use Afterburner to see how much VRAM is being used? It's possible that at 4K the 12GB of the 3060 comes into consideration over the 8GB in the 6600XT with COD Warzone.

    • Must have been using dlss for 4k on anything recent on a 3060
All 1080p or light 1440p cards

  • I currently have a Gigabyte GTX 1070 ti (three fans). is this comparable to that or an upgrade to that? thank you.

  • Showing as OOS now. ):

  • Just be careful… ordered that RTX 3080 on Friday, was told there was plenty in stock, especially with the limit of one per customer. Now they contact me and cancel my order saying they can't fulfil it and "sorry about that" and refund will take 5 business days. From what I've heard, it's not the first time this happens.

  • OOS

    A $350 GPU for $699

What a time to be alive

    • -7

      Sucks to be you ;)

  • Buyer's beware.

Mwave have been doing some dodgy shit lately.

I had an RTX 3080 order canceled on me this morning with zero explanation. They took my money, validated my purchase and went into processing, waited a week than canceled my order with no ETA on a refund. Tried to blame their horrible business practices on their supplier, yeah great excuse.

Honestly i don't care about delays, but this is complete BS. I won't be shopping with them again and i'll be making sure anyone i know doesn't have to deal with them.

  • I am shocked that even at 700 bucks this is being sold out. the RRP is $599. But those cards are already sold out on Kogan so yeah. I do find it funny that the launch price will basicially never been seen again.

  • +1

$700 for an entry level gpu (twin fan at that) and people are eating it up like its their last meal

    • yep well its the only video card you can really get under a 1000 bucks.

    • Honestly no other option right now.

I'm lucky enough to have a 1080 so can hold out but plenty of people aren't as lucky and this is by far the cheapest of the new gen GPU's.

You can buy a brand new 6600XT or hit up eBay and buy a used card that's years old with similar performance for the same price.

  • How does this compare to 5700xt ?

    • Sidegrade at best, i wouldn't bother.

      • Pointless product then

  • Those still looking for a 6600 xt can consider these options from PLE.

    XFX Radeon RX 6600 XT Speedster MERC 308 Black 8GB GDDR6 - $729

    or

    PRE ORDER

    XFX Radeon RX 6600 XT Speedster QICK 308 Black 8GB GDDR6 - $699

not a great deal. but beggars choosers something something..

  • Fwiw I bought this model
Nice and quiet, mines well (efficently) and games well at 1080p
Sure cheaper would be nice but that's the time we live in

    • how do you mine? what do you mine? interested once my 6600 arrives..

      • +1

With a 6600XT - Ethereum with Team Red Miner is your best bet, but you can mine other coins and use other mining software too. You'll need to join a mining pool too, I like ethermine but there's many others. Ethermine pays out at 0.1 ETH without fees, or it allows you to withdraw the amount you have mined if you pay the manual payout network fee.

You can create a Metamask account and mine directly to that, or you can get a different online wallet or offline hardware wallet, or you could start an account with an exchange like btcmarkets.net or coinspot.com.au and mine directly to your ETH wallet on an exchange if you would like to sell the crypto you mine (not hodl).

Just bear in mind with a single 6600XT you won't get that much, and you could spend a while mining just to earn the manual payout network fee.
