How can I get a loud alarm on my phone for a 3080 deal notification?

    • +9

      max your volume?

    • You won't beat the bots. If you truly want a card sign up to an auto-buying service or wait until next year.

      • Only spent 5mins browsing after Mwave order got cancelled. Guess I got lucky.

    • +3

Get on the Aus Instock Discord, it's so easy to get one at this point

      • +1
      • +1

Getting one is easy, they are literally everywhere, but can you get them at a reasonable price using the discord? Like ozbargain post-worthy price.

        • Gigabyte cards for roughly this price pop up once every couple days, and they're always up on there well before they make it here

    • you can manage deal tags but it's a really unintuitive system that i forget how to use every time. even then gmail doesn't notify me when I get the emails cos it doesn't think they're important so idk what i'm meant to do.

not looking for a 3080 btw just my experience (looking for an LG C1)

    • +2

PLE are great to deal with in my experience. Give 'em a call. Ask them whether they'll put one aside and call you the next time they get stock.

  • +12

already gone. and i thought i finished quickly

    • +4

      woah there cowboy

Am I late? Nevermind I'm HODLing anyway :D

      Thanks for the update.

    Zotac? 🤢🤢🤮

    • +4

Can someone explain what’s wrong with zotac?

      • +7

Had a Zotac and it was good. Sweet FA between card brands if you ask me, despite huge price differences.

        Mod: Fixed

      • +3

I have this exact model. It's awesome. In my experience ZOTAC make some of the best quality cards. Them and Asus are my go to.

        • On the 3080, Asus and Zotac are literally chalk and cheese, Zotac being that the entry level and Asus at the higher end. Asus TUF 3080 is the one everyone wants to get. They're both MSRP cards.

That being said in a GPU shortage people seem to be happy to take what they can get.

      • -3

Its literally the poorest of the 3080's on the market, with stock clocks @ 95% of what they should be. Card barely overclocks as is.
At least the non LHR can mine OK so you can make your money back, but an LHR card I'd be looking elsewhere. At least get a card that runs stocks speed and can overclock a little.

Nice teardown analysis here by Buildzoid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AVZSjYDR2E

        • +3

What if not everyone has the same intention to over clock and are happy just to upgrade from a 1060 to a 3080?

Just because this doesn't suit your usecase doesn't make it crap. It's a ridiculous argument to be made.

I also overclock all my things, and not once did it cross my mind that this card was useless because of its lack of OC properties.

          Check ya self dood

          • @BirdPirch: Never did I call teh card "Useless", it is however the poorest most entry level card on the market and that is fact. People seem to be happy to get whatever they can get their hands on, I already have the Zotac 3080 but if I had my time again, I'd have gotten the Palit or something else. At least a manufacturer that can build a card with stock clocks as a baseline.

            • +1

@BargainKen: My point still stands though, this card isn't acceptable for you as you wish to do more with it and push it further.
If someone was upgrading from an older generation card and this is all they can afford and don't care about pushing, perhaps not even opening GPU tweak to adjust fan speeds - then its still a viable upgrade. Your comments aren't really helpful to anyone.

If I bought a toaster which was the most basic entry level toaster from kmart which barely manages to cook 2 pieces of bread, and your had a whole family which eats toast every meal of the day - your comments on the usefulness of my toaster wouldn't mean anything to anyone, would it?

Has the card failed for you? Does it generate excessive heat which wont dissipate under generic loads? Does it drop frames and struggle with gaming?
Like, what are your gripes other than the possible build quality and the binning of the chips in the card itself?

I think the only helpful thing you have mentioned is that it can't be overclocked, so overclockers beware.

      • Great cards. I remember my first Zotac GTX 1080 AMP Extreme back a few years ago. What a card!!!

        • And its exactly comments like this that made me buy into the Zotac brand, only heard good things about it not realising it was going to be the most basic card on the market. Price you pay for buying on launch day I suppose.

I've heard good things about their 3060Ti though.

          • @BargainKen: Let's just say some of their top end cards, like the AMP Extreme were great cards. At the time [GTX 1080] I had both the Zotac AMP Extreme and the ASUS Strix. Benches and Temps were slightly better on the Zotac card.

Can't comment now, on their RTX lineup as I've never owned one of these models, but I'd like to think their premium edition release still go well.

    • +2

Bought one of these after release and still going strong

  • Decent card if not OCing, grabbed one

  • Damn you, just was about to buy one. Was eyeing on it for a while

  • I am guessing the miners bought them all quickly. And don't care even if it is LHR model.

    • Gamers are pretty hungry too
That being said, nbminer can unlock 65-70% of the performance for mining etheruum
      66mh/s

  • Wanna bet how many of these ended up in scalpers? lol

Theres people on fb marketplace selling 30 series cards at like 25% markup from the already inflated price, and they got a room full of them cards.

    • +2

Many of them will, but anyone trying to make money by scalping LHR 3080s is going to find themselves making a tiny profit while being exposed to the risk of having to hold thousands of dollars worth of stock…don't hate em, feel sorry for em.

      • +1

they're basically gambling on the price of eth going up, there is a good chance they'll pump it another 10x lol

scalping is low risk but low reward too

  • +3

Trinity? More like Matrix; because it's all a construct and doesn't really exist.

    I'll show myself out.

Edit: live chat confirmed it is not in stock

  • +1

Gigabyte model on megabuy confirmed oos too

  • whats the non covid price on these?

    • +1

      around 1.2k

      • which is what im hod'ling for… happy to rock my 1080 till then.

        • +3

Unless crypto currency suddenly disappears, which it won't, prices will always be inflated.

      • +1

yeah when have you seen a gpu selling at mrsp in aus?

    • Paid $1139 for mine on release but I think it hiked to around $1300-ish after like a week.

      • yeah dam, can’t justify myself from buying one for more than $1200 :(

        • To be fair, I think the only few cards selling at or near RRP was the Founder's Edition (basically unobtainable), Zotac and EVGA. Everything else was around $1400 or more even at RRP.

  • +3

Damn it … I gotta stop blinking :P

  • +2

Glad I managed to get one of these (non-OC) from PLE at launch for $1139. This price for a LHR version of it is still insane.

Our appetitive nature consists in those elemental cravings for food, drink and RTX that keep our physical beings going and also perpetuate our time on PC games.

The problem with appetite is that it tends to take over the proper business of reason. Instead of living according to a rational plan aimed at virtue, we follow the instincts of gut and gonads and end up with disordered and therefore unhappy souls.

Plato recasts these urgent instincts as wild interior beasts in need of taming, a process that requires careful education and training.

    we won the war. brothers.

  • Feels like the demand is still crazy high. Good luck to the people holding. Even at this price it sold out quickly…

    • Just got to hold till next year when miners start selling their parts when Ethereum 2.0 phase 1 kicks in.

  • Sorry, I don't know why these high end graphics cards are selling like hot cakes ??

I mean sub 1k GPU card can run pretty much all the top tier graphics hungry games already

Are people buying these for the purpose of cryptocurrency mining?

(What is that anyway…still no idea how that thing works)

Anyone care to explain in a way to a dummy like me in simple terms.

    Thanks in advance

    • simply why its so popular… whilst Ur not gaming you open up a program and it uses your GPU power to solve algorithms in return you get about 4-8 bucks a day. Im waiting for a decent priced 3080 or 3080ti :)

      • So it take approx 1.5 year to break even with the graphics card. Not taking the power use into account.

        Sound like a deal…..
Meaning shitty card makes less money due to its power to run algorithm faster?

        • if u need a gpu its ok cos i want to play top end games …. im happy to pay 1k for a 3080 < so im down lets say 800? i can pay it off in 10 months so it doesnt really matter and then after 10 months its profits

    • Depends on the resolution and FPS. If you're running at 1440p 144fps you'll need RTX 3070+ (or amd equivalent)

  • Apes stupid
    Apes losing

  • anyone got ETA?
