  • Isn't the 'Market Value' a lower quality beef product?
Don't know if I could stomach 2kg of chewy beef.

coupon on a supermarket is dodgy, just put the price down! man id have to have to start collecting coupons for all our groceries…

    • -1

Yeah I hate to have to collect different coupons as well, it's bad enough coles keep sending me coupons.

Put the price down is better. My local Foodland IGA has MSA graded Fillet Steak for $29.99kg, I had some last night with a beurre maitre d'hotel it was fantastic.

      • +2

I wonder if I am the only one who had to look up beurre maitre d'hotel.

Personally I'm wondering if robinsoa is a current contestant in My Kitchen Rules….

No you weren't. What a wanky name for parsley butter.

        • +3

I actually thought it was the name of some fancy hotel in Paris. How wrong I was.

        • Well it's a good cheap 'sauce' anyone can make. You get sick of pepper sauces, gravies etc….
Very appropriate for ozbargainer's trying to get a nice dish and save $.
Total cost including some homemade chips and some peas was under $8p.p.

Anyway, with the $10 off what is the price all up for 2KG of the OP's deal?

      • it does sound like hotel… comments are so funny lol

      • +2

My instinctive translation was "hotel's donkey mother". :)

  • yeah but how much is the original price? $30/kg?
Vic market - it's as low as $12/kg (restaurant stuff is $18/kg)

last time they had this offer on rump, the prices were the highest i'd seen at woolies in a while. Skeptical that there is a bargain here

and how big are the packs? i dont want to end up having to buy $50+ worth of steak just to save $10.

    • Min 2kg

Support your local butchers. Better steak at a cheaper price…

    • Depends on the butcher… Sometimes you get inferior meat and pay more…

    • Mostly, but butchers in my area may have a lower average price than the supermarket, but can't compete against specials.

Meat quality is higher at all 4 of my nearest butchers, especially for premium cuts like fillet, sirloin porterhouse etc.

Just dropped into Woolies and the porterhouse steaks are retail at $19:99 per kilo.
The minimum packs were just over 2 kilos and were priced between $40-$49 each..so brings the price down to approx. $15 per kilo with your $10 coupon.

I must say the steaks looked terrible with gristle and a lot of fat, so I doubt they are top grade steaks. One even had a nasty looking black spot right in the middle of the steaks..very old looking.

I opted to hit my local butcher and buy some very nice looking porterhouses
    for $18:99 a kg

I don't know about you guys, but I reckon these coupon promos are a bit of a dodgy way of shifting a lot of ordinary meat.

  • Agree having to get VERY selective with buying the meat now at woolies
the "market value" range is not for me that's for sure.
