Do you have to be a Telstra customer to qualify for these deal?

    • +1

      To purchase it outright, yes.

But otherwise, you can purchase it alongside a month-to-month post-paid plan and then cancel after receiving it and only pay the first month cost of the plan.

      • +3

Post paid plan will trigger a credit check.

      • whats the cheapest plan

    • +20

If you have been a past Telstra customer, then your old login will work to purchase the phone outright without the plan. No need to be a current active Telstra customer. Hope this info helps.

      • +1

This didn’t work for me last time, hope it does this time.

Even though I had an old login I needed to add a mobile plan to make it past the verification or else it kept spitting out a error.

        • +1

Can you purchase a month to month SIM only plan to overcome this?

          • @mimik13: I could over come it by selecting a mobile plan. That was the only way.

          • +1

@mimik13: Here's what I did. Purchased a $10 prepaid Telstra Starter SIM pack from Coles, activated it and registered for a Telstra ID during the activation process. I now have a login and the iPhone 12 mini is showing as $719.40 for me on the site. I'm not sure how long the account will remain active as I won't be recharging however the important thing to note was pointed out by buddysayshi above and that is - no credit check is performed here. Please feel free to correct me if wrong. Unsure if this will work with the cheaper $2 Telstra Starter SIM pack.

      • Can confirm just purchased 12 mini on an old account. Haven't had a service with Telstra in years.

  • What's the iphone 12 mini like compared to iphone 12?

    • +80

      Smaller

      • -6

12:40 am man. Go to sleep

        • +45

          Deals don't sleep

          • +4

            @WoodenSpoon: Don't stop. Won't stop.

            Can't stop… 😭

Ok, I'll stop… And go to sleep 💤

          • +7

@WoodenSpoon: Ozbargain is out there. It can't be reasoned with, it can be bargained with…it doesn't feel pity of remorse or fear…and it absolutely will not stop.Ever. Until you are broke.

        • +4

          Still 10.40pm here..

    • +5

29g lighter, smaller screen and smaller battery. Rest all equal.

iPhone 13 announcement expected this month.

    • +4

Battery life not very good compared to iPhone 12. Light to medium use will last a day, but if you are a heavy user, will need to charge it during the day. For media consumption, iPhone 12 is much better.

    • Battery life is ordinary (around 4 hrs of screen time). Games feel sluggish compared to Pixel 3 XL(personal opinion). But the size and weight are perfect.

    • less battery about 1-2 hours

  • Is the 128gb version of the iPhone 12 mini available at a $479 discount too?

  • +2

Will be heading to office work first thing jn the morning

    • -7

office works don't price match discounted items. if that is what your after.

      • +7

At Officeworks, we don’t just say low prices we aim to live them.
Our Price Beat Guarantee (PBG) means that if you find a lower priced identical stocked item that's in stock with a competitor (even if it's on sale), we will not only match it, we'll beat it by 5%.

        • interested to know if this will work, keep us updated mate

        • This isn’t available to the general public as you need an account.
They most likely won’t honour it

          • @Pinchy: just confirmed this on the phone, no go for PBG

    • +3

You need to be a Telstra customer to buy it. You can't access the page without a login

      • No you don't. New customer can get these telstra day deals. Not only for existing customers. It doesn't hurt to try price beating at office works.

        • +2

Try but I doubt. A new customer still needs to sign in to their account to access. Good luck.

          • @tman2020: Sign in first, so it is cached.

  • s21 for 621$ seems to be good deal as well

    • Hopefully a deal on the ultra.

  • I'd be tempted if iPhone 13 (or 12S or w/e) weren't around the corner.

    • +19

      Hence the price drop, chief.

  • -1

Does 28 degrees accept price protection claims from telstra?

  • Bugger… Bought the 12 mini from the GG on the 22/8 for $884… Reckon I could return it and get this deal?

    • If that’s still sealed in box

    • They might charge you the restocking fees?? Ring them to find Out.

  • Does this require you to purchase a 12 month plan with an outright purchase just like the fathers day too or can you just pay outright for the phone without a plan

    • looks like you have to add a plan to get the discount, but not sure if you can then cancel the plan anytime and not get penalised, having to pay the discount back.

      • you can get a casual contract monthly plan, cheapest one is $55 and cancel right away but that first month you have to pay upfront with the phone, just talked to a telstra rep at their store.

    • Negative. Just requires a Telstra login. I just purchased it outright with no current Telstra services.

  • Does anyone know if this iPad Air 4 has the new M1 chip?

    • +3

No… Only the latest iPad Pro has the M1 at the moment.

      • +32

        Thank you my tofu brother.

  • +1

Will JB or Apple match the Telstra Day prices? Got some gift cards I could use if they do.

    • Based on previous deal, they won't do it normally. But ask the manager anyway as you may get lucky

  • How do we find the link to make the sale purchases? Will telstra update it closer to the sale time? Thanks

    • +1

I'd say that link will go to the sale when it is live tomorrow.

  • From memory the last deal showed $799 sale price but people got it for $100 less at $699
Imagine if that happened again. I love this phone enough that I would buy a second just to keep somewhere safe for when my current one dies, it's an amazing little package.

    • -1

you wot mate, atleast let me use it until your current one dies u madman.

  • +3

For reference, here was last months Telstra day offer. A lot of the above questions can be answered by reading through the comments
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/642368#comment

  • Anyone know what the return policy is for unopened change of mind for an outright purchase?

    • exactly my thoughts
it's a great price to buy but what if iphone 13 mini is just a bit more?

      • I doubt Apple will drop their new releases RRP by much compared to previous release

        • +1

If I remember correctly though, the Iphone 12 models were about $100 cheaper than the previous model on release.

      • 13 prices will be the same as 12 rrp or higher, even older models are expected to have a price rise, have to protect those profits

  • +2

Not sure if this is mentioned, but if you sign up with Telstra plan with the Iphone 12 mini 64/128gb, you can pricematch within 7 days with Vodafone's $600 off to get an additional $200 off thus making the iphone 12 mini only $600

    • can you elaborate? any telstra plan? and what vodafone plan/combination are you referring to? Cheers

      • Vodafone currently has $600 off if you sign up to their 24/36 month plans.
        https://www.vodafone.com.au/mobile-phones/iphone-12-mini?cap…

If you sign up with Telstra on any plan with 24/36 months for the iphone 12 mini, you are entitled to pricematch and get the difference to $600 off. The 24/36 months applies to the phone only, and you can sign up whatever phone contract you desire.

        • can you sign up Voda for $600 then cancel plan straight away?

          • @webtherapist: No, cancelation will remove the discount and your charged full price, same as Telstra if your picking a 24/36 month contract

            • @srhardy: i think with telstra you can. Dont quote me on this, but since they credit you the balance of the pricematch, once you receive it after 1-2 billing cycles, you should be able to just cancel your contract (depends which plan you are on) and just pay the remaining of your phone balance out which should be the telstra's discounted amount, as you can buy the phone outright anyway on telstra.

  • +4

I don't have a Telstra plan or Sim.

How do I buy this outright?

    • +1

I also have a same question. What's the easiest and cheapest way to have a Telstra account?

      • looks like you have to add a plan to get the % off the phone going by the fine print in the deal under the 3 phones showing as a sneak peak. I just want to know if you can sign up to the plan and then cancel the next month? (and not get charged the money you got off the price)

        • I think if you have active service this deal may be available. I think I read in the previous deal someone bought a $2 sim card and activated it and was able to get the deal. Good luck though.

  • Do we know what time the sale will commence tomorrow?

  • -1

looked at the small print and it says for the s21 save 50% if signed up to an eligible plan, so that is a no from me, unless you can cancel the plan straight after you purchase the phone and they won't then charge the other 50%???

  • Do you need to be a Telstra mobile customer, or can you be a Telstra home internet customer?

    • +1

as long as you have telstra Account

  • Every time I ask Apple to pricematch, they give me the finger. bastards

    • +1

      which finger?

      • The fudge stained finger.

        • I used to love Tim Tams. Can’t eat them anymore sadly.

  • Damn, just ordered the other deal on the 12 Mini

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/646546

  • Would there be further discount when the iphone 13 comes out or is this as good as it gets?

    • +2

Maybe. Maybe not. If you need the phone now just buy it. Who knows what the future holds.

  • I don't have a Telstra account. Does a $2 simcard work to activate and then buy?

    • would like to know if this trick will work too.

  • Afterpay??

  • Lol add to cart = scheduled maintaince.
And you gutta add a plan to get the discount.
Meh I'll give it a miss

    • +1

Getting the same wanted too add to my existing plan .

      • Ipad also is backorder., I'll give this a miss

  • Now working for me. Have received order confirmation.

  • with on-going mask wearing, I finally changed from iPhone 12 Pro Max to SE 2020 for finger print LOL

  • Working now. Received confirmation. Cheers

  • Worked for me. Thanks

  • so all the deals are just what listed on that page, right?
    no Ipad mini?

  • Anyone able to select collect from store rather than delivery?

  • Man…their website was shaky for me. Backordered a 12 mini 128gb outright…let's see if that works.

    • Did they take the money first?

      • +1

The authorisation is on my card, so I guess so. Order status says pending, but expected 4th Sep (yeah right, with the current state of shipping).

  • I managed to order for 128gb 12 mini on repayments by going through the Rewards store. By doing this, I get to keep my current discounted plan and just pay for the device which is slightly discounted after using some points.

  • Thanks OP got the white 128gb in the last deal now getting the black 128gb for myself. Wish they had the white still as dust and scratches are less noticeable

Thing is so light and small, can standardise MagSafe in the family car and already using slow charging qi points everywhere in the house

    • How's battery? easy last one full day (no gaming)?
