As suggested here, this thread will be a megathread to ask whether a particular site is legitimate.
Any individual posts will be merged into here, in the future.
@jmc787: There are two separate parts here. The SSL certificate authenticates the domain and prevents MITM (man-in-the-middle) attacks. It's authenticating and encrypting the transport layer and does not care for what the actual content that it's sending.
The certificate can't be removed without some major disruption (eg. changing something significant like cacert.pem on ALL servers).
Google Chrome has it's own checks to see if there is any malicious code or phishing (similar to Securi, PhishTank, ESET, etc).
In this case, the CA authenticating the domain and providing the SSL certificate via 'Google Trust Services' is completely different to Google Chrome detecting the code that the domain is sending you.
Basically, one is how the data is transported and the other is the application (website).
Hi guys,
Just came across this
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005009075749847.html?spm=a2…
Is this too good of a price to be true?
Thanks all
Apart from that it is perfect taste of the drums, i like the camera and the design is impeccable.
But.. is it suitable for action?
Seller is congratulations
I think this commenter hit the nail on the head
There is only ever one answer to your question. Take it or leave it.
"The device is good and works well. It's worth buying. The seller is great, answers questions, and is cooperative. The shipping is excellent and well-packaged. These are Hawaiian pillows. I highly recommend buying from this excellent and cooperative merchant with very good shipping."
Love the Xiaomi Hawaiian Pillow Tablet
Consider the AliExpress Title doesn't mention Xiaomi and the product image is Xioami Pad 7 Pro, you'll either receive nothing or a generic tablet.
EDIT: Based on reviews, it a generic tablet.
Xioami
Snapdrago
It's a roll of the dice with this one. You might get a tablet, you might get a cardboard cutout.
WTH is Xioami?
You know… those pork dumplings you get at yumcha…
This is a real fake!
First time coming across their website. I notice that some of their camera gear are well priced. Wondering if they are trustworthy and reliable. Anyone has any thoughts? TIA

@spackbace: Just because they say they will accept refunds doesn’t mean they won’t give you the runaround until you give up.
@spackbace: Sorry, my bad. I prefer bricks and mortar stores. At least you can stand in front of someone and whinge.
@spackbace: Haha yep, it's a quality bit of gear, honestly if people get tricked by this stuff they deserve to lose their money.
Nigerian prince also promises luxury life but deliver scams and no show…
O.P.'s Avatar checks out.
Is this post defamation?
FWIW I had never heard of "By Lunas Sandals" until now.
Shop smart
Good advice ;)
cool story
Hi everyone,
I have across a company named Aussie Car Dealers who sell cars and machinery with an online only format. The website is aussiecardealers.com
They have vehicles well below market prices and claim to deal with various companies, agencies and private clients. They state that some vehicles maybe repossessed.
They have a process where you pay for the vehicle first, then they will deliver the vehicle to you (for free within 500 kilometres from their base in Warrabrook NSW, or .50 per kilometre thereafter to your property).
Then you have a 15 day trial period. If you don't like it you can return the vehicle for a full refund.
I did an ABN search on ASIC and the company is registered since 2022 as Car Dealer Pty Ltd (ABN 663 551 200).
I came across them on Facebook marketplace. I was looking at a 2016 Toyota Kluger GX model with 168,218 kilometres on it. They are selling it for $7,800. On car sales similar vehicles are selling for about double that price?
They show a number of other vehicles on their website also well below market value.
I couldn't find much info or reviews on the company?
Has anyone had any dealings with this company?
https://aussiecardealers.com/listings/2016-toyota-kluger-gx-…
Well I wasted $2 on a PPSR and surprisingly it turned up clean
Hmm, OP the same car is advertised here for $21,888 drive away
Oh, photos are the same…

hey SB, how did you find it on vonbibra? I'm keen to learn your investigative skills.
Google the number plate.
Googled the vin
It's either a SCAM or they're repaired write offs. All the cars seem to be registered in different states, so I'm going with scam.
They have a process where you pay for the vehicle first
The sad part is is how many people will get caught by that. Super cheap advertised prices will attract struggling people
Well op account is only ammo13 few min old :)

Hi sorry yes I'm a long time viewer/listener but I hardly post as too busy.
Thanks for everyone's comments/help. Prices sound too good to be true!
To me the no .com.au/ or .net.au
Is a massive red flag to start with
If their prices are significantly lower than the market, they are 'online only' and will deliver a car uo to 500km for free how could it not be a scam?
Delivery on a tow truck is not cheap. Getting someone to drive it to you and get a return trip somehow is not cheap. Noone legit would offer than 'for free'.
Car dealers knkw how much cars sell fpr and try to maximise profits. If they go cheap, it would be under 10% less than comparables unless the car is dodgy.
Try it for 15days. Pull the other one, the fine print would make it near impossible to return. They know people would do a transmission swap then return it for change of mind. How would you make money on sending a car out for a free trial and then take it back? Especially at up to 500km.
So many red flags.
The first major red flag is ripping listings from proper businesses:
https://aussiecardealers.com/listings/2019-toyota-camry-asce…
https://www.drivenautogroup.com.au/stock/9695
Just look up any vin
I didnt even get to that phase. Too many red flags even without seeing any listings.
I've got a really nice bridge to sell you, I'll do you a great price on it as you seem like a nice guy. I'll even deliver it for free!
Edit: Maybe not the same person. But coincidence that both started a thread today …
Coincidence, likely these scammers are pushing FB posts.
Just replied on there, helped them see the light lol
The number on the site sounds like it diverts when you call it. No one answers.
Just looking around at a Samsung S25 Edge and https://ozmobiles.com.au/products/galaxy-s25-edge-256gb?vari… Ozmobiles has them at a very good price.
The say Australian stock somewhere, but that could just mean they have stock in an Australian warehouse, not that it’s Samsung Australian stock/model.
I went on their chat and asked what the model number is and they said something along the lines , we have too many phone skus to be able to say what the model number is !!!
Also their description and specs is not for a Samsung edge, not for any edge anywhere sold in the world.
Just seems a bit suss but searching ozBargain the store comes up every now and then.
too many phone skus i dunno
Red flag.
Im thinking so too.
Ordered a Pixel as a gift from them last December. Arrived 2 days later Melbourne to Sydney. Was brand new retail sealed and AU stock. No issues.
Did you ask if it was an australian release ohone beforehand or just assumed it was going to be?
Was it really cheap (they are selling the edge new for about $1200, JBhifi, Samsung etc are about $1900 .. a big difference.
I didn't specifically ask but I remember it saying AU stock.
It was much much cheaper than the local retail store market else wouldn't have ordered it in first place.
@Hybroid: Thanks. I don’t trust their site saying AU stock as a sneaky seller could just say they mean they have stock in Australia but could still be a grey import (especially seeing all the phones details are completely wrong apart from being called Samsung s25 Edge.)
I was browsing some home stuff and came across this Aldi website which has very low prices. It seems suss but just wondering if anyone else has purchased from them before
Oh come on, look at the website name. It's as legit as asjklhhjsfdj.com for genuine Gucci stuff.
That address should tell you everything you need to know.
https://www.reddit.com/r/aldi/comments/1njuct2/surely_a_scam…
You're joking, right? 🤨
Mate, if you need to even ask this question, you need to disconnect your internet and never reconnect it.
How did you find that website?
How did you find that website?
They found it when they registered the domain name.

just wondering if anyone else has purchased from them before
And now you have a virus or 2 in your PC. U r welcome.

facebook ad offering 80%
/end
this takes me back to the days when well-meaning people would spam everyone they knew with warnings about the latest cyber threat .
"Weird Al" Yankovic - Virus Alert
OP, stop it - never EVER go to facebook without an ad-blocker. This type of site has been common for years.
Thanks for your in depth investigation, there's thousands of fake websites out there.
No need to call out each one just visit the official website.
FFS. What a waste of your time.
why would you think its legit
Facebook is rife with scammers advertising on the platform. It's a big money spinner for them.
I wouldn't look at anything less than 150% off and accepting Bitcoin or Ansett Global Rewards points. lol
Should rename this thread OnlyScams. I will ad these scam sites https://nexos-vera.com/pages/igh-au and https://shopscpts.com/pages/hig-au to the list.
