  • Cheers. Looks alright, why not.

  • Why not. Got one. Thanks!

  • Think i grabbed the last one

  • Any practical ideas how to test it's accuracy?

I have to analogue ones that give approx 5 to 10 degrees different readings depending on temperature (ie they vary more greatly at higher temperatures).

      Boiling water test on stove.
      Water boils at 100 Celcius.

      • Thanks. I have thought of this but not all meat thermometers claim to be accurate at 100 degrees as it's generally not a temperature you need meat to get to.

Also, people who live at high altitudes have to remember water boils at lower temperatures the higher up you get.

What cook99 suggested or alternatively cool something down to the point where no energy from molecular motion (heat energy) is available for transfer to other systems and you should be at absolute zero (-273.15°C)

Yep. I bought a "Kelvinator" fridge thinking it would get me down to zero degrees kelvin but apparently not.

Common defect with one of their batches, mine gets down to those temps easily, ask for a refund!

    … and they're gone

I tried a cheaper thermometer but they usually take around 5-8 seconds to read, and couldnt accurately gauge boiling water. Ended up getting a javelin pro which does it in about 2 seconds. Something to think about if you're doing something like measuring oil temperature.

  • Gone after only 300 clicks?

  • this one could be a good alternative. $7 with Prime. 442 reviews and close to 5 star rating overall. https://www.amazon.com.au/Thermometer-Digital-Cooking-Kitche…

    • The thing with that style is that it’s quite long and the probe is quite thick (giggety)
