Been eyeing these for a while. They seem to be the next best behind the SoundPEATS H1 (double the price).

I had camelcamelcamel set up and finally got a hit.

$44.99 with 5% discount, so final price was $42.74 Sorry looks like the 5% off SoundPEATS deal ended.

  • No ANC right?

    • +2

No ANC, contrary to what the Amazon listing says.

    • If you want ANC.. go for the TicPod 2 Pro..

      https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B089NRZHNH

      Works fantastic.

      • Thanks but the stems…

        • +1

They should be long enough. Any stem is better than none, if you want call-clarity for the other party.

          • @MasterScythe: I think these days, the ones without stems are getting more and more comparable in call quality compared to the ones with stems?

            • @ilovefullprice: Some do, the very high end ones, not these cheap Chinese ones

              • @onlinepred: Ok thanks.

              • @onlinepred: lol I think Chinese make almost everything better than most vendors
If you look at all OEMs are either from China or Taiwan
                Set political aside

                • @SW2020: 100% but what I mean is that the Chinese brands perhaps do not have the same price points, quality standards and QA. Let alone a brand name to maintain.

        • Yes this has better passive cancellation

    • these are already in ear you dont need the anc.

      • I like things with new technology

        • so do i, but if you ask me to name technologies that are most pointless, ANC for in-ear buds would be one of them.

          • @PuntyBrah: Quick question: Does the anc also cancels out small background noises for the other person I am speaking to during calls?

            • +1

@ilovefullprice: thats seperated from the ANC, the mic have have noise cancelling too yes but you would need to check the details for the pairs you're looking at, most of the time it comes as a software noise cancelling instead which is different the ANC you get from the sound driver.

              • @PuntyBrah: When I look at the specs for ear/headphones, most of them only specify that they have anc, but don’t break it down to if it’s anc mike or speaker. Do you know how you can tell in the specs?

                • +1

@ilovefullprice: i just took a quick look at the feature posters down the page and it says these pairs have Qualcomm CVC (clear voice call) to reduce background noises, thats about what you'll get for most part with earbuds, I suggest watching video reviews on youtube if call quality matters, most reviewer will demo the call quality.

just never expect the call quality to be any good with these tho…. its serviceable at best, i wouldnt recommend taking any serious calls with it.

I'm eyeing on the sony wh-1000xm4 and wondering when the next deal will be…

    • Same :) it’s a decent set of earbuds but at the current price point. Not so worth the investment especially when I still have my XM3’s running just fine

Anyone who likes this brand, The TrueAir2 is the best non-canal-phones ive ever used.

Just an fyi is all :)

    • 100% I think they sound bloody amazing.

    • They seem to be on sale too. I think this design would suit me better. Not a big fan of in canal style buds.

    • I am using the original Apple Airpod, would the TrueAir2 works equally well paired with an iPhone 12? How's the sound quality comparison?

    • +2

I just got a pair of the TrueAir2 on Friday and was disappointed.

I guess i was thinking it would have better noise cancellation because it drains out like 1db of sound lol

In a quiet environment they're good but trying to have a conversation while kids/cars are around are going to be a punish.

      • It's the nature of the type of bud they are. Unless they have active noise cancelling (which is hard to find at this price point), in-canal earbuds will block out a lot more sound because they block off the ear canal.

Like others above, I prefer these too, as in-canal buds make my ears hurt after a while.

I just returned my pair. They do not sound as good as AirPods or galaxy buds live, not even close.

      • +2

I really don't think it's a fair comparison considering the TrueAir2 are like 1/3 of the price.

        • +1

I bought a new pair of buds live off gumtree for $100. I paid $38 for TrueAir2. I do agree, but just pointing out these aren’t magic, or even that good, they are worth the price, and are not made to last.

          • @onlinepred: That's fair enough. It is meant to be a budget ear bud at the end of the day.

    • Also TrueAir 2+ is available (adds wireless charging and low latency), but only from Aliexpress atm

  • +1

I have these, I hate that they stay lit when they’re in your ears. Besides that they’re pretty good.
I prefer the trueshift2 which are equally as good. They fit better with the ear tips and have the bonus of the case doubling as a powerbank.

    • +1

I also have these and the light goes out when music is playing or maybe just when they're paired.

    • They are lit to show that they're paired, once audio starts from any source the lights go off, 100%

If you pause the audio the lights come back on.

      • @nismo I read that the volume is not that loud. Do you have any complaints about the volume?

        • +1

I didn’t notice, but I mainly used them to watch Netflix on the bus

          • @wikiwiki: Good to hear as that was my only concern, thanks!

            • +1

@LostyJai: I often need to go Max volume on the Sonics, with some of my music. Depending on the recording / music source.

Otherwise, go for the TrueFree 2s and the 3SE as both go more than loud enough.

Check Picky Audio on YouTube, his reviews are quite good and cover nearly all aspects of earphones

@LostyJai: This one covers the Sonics are 3SE (and the newer H1)

I have these. Better fit than jabra 75t elite active, comparable sound quality (slightly better sound profile to my ears).

Haven't used them for calls so don't know how they compare in that way, but for gym headphones I prefer these.

  • +2

    Where's the extra 5%?

    • Yes, I'd like to know this as well.

    • Yeah not seeing any extra discounts in cart or anywhere.

It's $44.99. Which I think is about as low as this model goes, so still great value. 5% extra, I might have bought another pair..

    • Oh damn it looks like that 5% off finished, it was 5% off all SoundPEATS.

The mics on these are so bad. Also they are worse than the TruEngine 3 SE. Sonics were the only one Ive returned from soundpeats so far. Kept the Truengine 2 and 3 and H1. H1 is miles ahead of the sonic in sound and mic quality. Sonics are bass heavy and a bit muddled. Forget it for calls. People will think you are talking through a tin can. At this price point get the Truengine 3SE. They are $48.74 on Amazon at the moment. Or buy both and try for yourself and I'm sure most of you will return the sonics.

Edit - The main difference is that Sonics have bluetooth 5.2 compared to 5.0 and this seems to tie in with Qualcomms Adaptive APTX. I really haven't noticed the difference in any earbud I've tried so far between 5.2 and 5.0 or normal APTX and adaptive APTX. Also CVC 8.0 is pretty average on most buds. I think it is this that makes you sound like you are speaking in the toilet and seems to be the opinion of quite a few reviewers across many different brands. The effect seems to be less or more depending on brand and model.

  • Too many models and can't tell the difference. Which model would be best with work calls?

    • +1

According to people from previous deals, True Air 2 is the best for calls but it is semi in-ear, some said fit very well some said not.

  • I was using a pair of the True Dot’s for a couple of years. Super light, fit well and great for running. Similar to some other SoundPeats though the call function was useless.

Unfortunately, the charging case no longer works on the True Dots so I’m using an old pair of Jabra 65T to use for calls/Zoom/Teams with no problem.

Would be keen to upgrade to the Sonic as also lightweight and should be good to run with, but seems like the call function is still poorly functional.

  • I've been using these while running since Christmas, and they're great. Battery lasts longer than I need it to (easily over 4 hours) and the sound is great. Some issues with dropping out in one ear occassionaly, possibly due to having dropped them a lot when I first got them (took a while to get the fit right) or because I put them through the wash (twice…😬). They only seen to drop out though when paired to my Garmin but also carrying my phone, so maybe it's Bluetooth interference? The rest of the time they're brilliant. The buttons require a pretty firm press if skipping track/changing volume etc, but that's pretty common. Would buy again.

    • *no , I haven't been running since Christmas… Although that is tempting with lockdown. Just keep going til I hit the republic of WA, and freedom!

  • How do they compare to the truengine 3 SE which are $3 more? Only care about sound quality, don't care about phone calls
