Stay safe everyone.

Anyone know if you can make custom designs on redbubble?

    • Yep you can upload your own designs and then buy them.

  • Its a shame the site doesnt have free delivery

    • Totally, shipping can be steep for us here. That’s why I buy a lot when there is a 20% discount to make shipping cheaper per item.

I also use redbubble to gift friends in USA and Canada because shipping there is more reasonable and they love the stuff on RB.

    • If they did, the price of each item would be more.

I honestly wouldnt mind. The fact when I order 2 different products and shipping is applied for both is quite annoying

  • I don't really understand Red Bubble , it seems to be lots of "dodgy" items that have been produced from photos (t-shirts, mugs, pillows etc). Cant, you do that yourself at places like Vistaprint etc?

Many of them appear to possibly have copyright issues

    • You can pretty much upload your own designs (or find images from pop culture items) and make pretty much whatever RB offers like posters, shirts, stickers, etc. Most of it is user uploaded stuff, so a lot of it would be copyright infringement and I'm pretty sure RB have been in hot water over this in the past.
Years ago a mate of mine wanted a 'Vice' sticker so he uploaded the logo and got one made and sent to him. A couple months later, a fair number of people had also purchased his "design" and Vice contacted him instructing him to have it removed immediately.

      • Any idea what the quality of the printing is like, the photos appear to be a design photoshopped on a pillow so you dont see what the actual product looks like

The stickers are top notch in my opinion. I've had loads on my car and they've lasted for years and the printing quality of them in general is quite good.
T-shirts are usually quite good, just your typical screen printed shirts, nothing flash but very comfortable and soft. I had a VB logo printed on one and it's still in good nick from a few years ago.
I imagine the quality is still the same now. Can't speak for other items like pillow cases, but if the shirts are anything to go by, I'd say they would be decent. Only thing with the printing is don't expect it to be quite as vivid as the images show, may be a little more 'washed out'. Pillow cases are probably screen printed as well, but not sure on that one. Hope that helps.

      • Think Redbubble improved their process since then. Now, if a company claims copyright against a design you have uploaded, RB will remove it immediately and let you know by email who's claimed copyright. Generally this will be the company itself, if you've used their logo etc. They can also remove a design or hold it pending if it looks similar to something popular i.e. the Louis Vuitton monogram pattern

Some stuff “artist” post are rip offs, but many are individuals doing their own work or photography. you can get some really unique stuff, and often on stuff you can’t get anywhere else. Like shower curtains for example. But it is a niche taste, no doubt.

      • Yeah, pretty much all of the stuff RB promotes on their front page is legit and from artists. Plenty of real high quality art on there too. They actually have some deals with publishers, etc of copyrighted material that is legit, but when you go searching for most of the pop culture things, they are just someone uploading images they've found or it's fan art.

    • im an artist and have sold original designed content for many years on RB and have many friends also selling original stuff on RB. As the site has grown it is harder and harder to moderate the content so I think it's up to copyright holders to police these sites. It's a shame because it hurts the real artist but there are tens of thousands of us still using these print-on-demand sites… so you will still find many cool original artists there.

If you want to support a specific artist find them on social media and follow their links to where to shop :)

  • A few years ago ordered 2x tees. Great designs but awful quality t-shirts, they give me that uncomfortable scratching feeling so I never wear them…

    • yeah pretty much like Gildan rags

    • Yea no doubt the quality of stuff has increased over the years (some would say it could only go up lol)

But jokes aside, I think stuff is much better now than years ago and shipping is quicker.

      • I have the opposite - print quality has gone down. It doesn't last. I have 5 year old t-shirts where the print is in better nick than my 9-12 month olds.

I've been producing t-shirts on redbubble almost since their beginning. Originally they used to offer higher-standard tee (I think even American Apparel was an early option), since then they have experimented with different 'basic' t-shirts. Now they offer a basic and a more premium tee (AS colour) so you can avoid the rougher basic if you want to pay a bit more $

        eg.
