Well the Lenovo S540 goes on sale for around $1100 and has a QHD screen and a R7 4800U which should be a lot better than the 11370H. It is only a 13" device though. Right now it is $1275 here.

      and has a QHD screen

Which is not as good for battery life compared to HD

      • Run it at 1080p?

        • Itll still use more power turning on the display…

          • +5

@ATangk: I'd be willing to take the battery hit. I've been using a qhd screen for over 7 years can't go down to 1080p now

@ubcool: Not really so useful on a 13" screen… Using QHD on 27" is comfortable. I used to have a 14" QHD+ and that was painful with app scaling.

But each to their own. I prefer the battery life haha.

But since AMD processors are a lot more power efficient, it would probably even out

        • I am a AMD fan but got have to mention Intel's 10nm on laptop wasn't bad on power efficiency either. They are roughly equal.

As above, run it at 1080p. You still have the benefit of a much broader colour gamut, so images don't look grey/lifeless, and the ability to crank up the brightness if you sit in front of a window or use it outside.

        • +2

Always best to run at a displays native res.

      • S540 has 8 cores and 16 thread processor which to my knowledge is better. It also has 16gb ram, the one you linked has 8gb but it can be customized to 16. Screen seems to be same just size difference of an inch. I'd go for S540. If you want to consider a better system than S540 then have a look at Slim 5 Pro 16" model which has latest gen processor (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H) and a dedicated GPU with better battery and better display.

    • Is everyone on here a student or something?

  • Had a similar model, 13", good laptop, however, the graphics may struggle if you are using multiple screen configuration and having a video call at the same time.

    In general, good laptop :)

      Interesting.
It basically has the best "on-die" or "integrated graphics" ever made. Same as the fantastic 11th G7 "U" series, but at 35w which opens it up.
Im thinking about getting this specifically for its mutli screen desktop performance.
Every cheap 15" laptop adds an Nvidia graphics chip, but its usually routed through the integrated graphics anyway and only helps specifically with shading etc in games. If anything it can make multi-monitor tasks worse due to switching and sending data back and forward.
99% of laptops up until recently have terrible multi monitor performance due to the integrated graphics and the way the internal screen and external outputs are wired.
Only G-sync gaming laptops get around this.

I havent owned it yet though so i cant speak for this particular implementation, though i wouldnt be surprised if there wasnt something you could do.

What video application were you running? What were you seeing? The typical drops frames and stuttering moving windows from screen to screen? Or potentially some sort of issue with the video steam itself? You wouldnt have been on battery would you?
I also recommend increasing the power settings to "performance" within in the Dell Power management apps. It usually opens up the chips thermal headroom, and add some fan.

    • struggle doing just normal office stuff + vid?

      • Yes, and my colleague who had the same laptop is experiencing the same issue.

Surprising given that this one has a dedicated graphics

If you have or want something to run an eGPU: "Thunderbolt 4 for i7 processor"

  • Is this better specs ?
    Inspiron 15 7506 2-in-1 Laptop 11th Gen i7-1165G7 16GB RAM 512GB SSD Win10..
It was on eBay for 1300$

Similar, though the biggest differences are possibly the unknown specs of the LCD panels.
That said, this machine while having essentially the same piece of silicon, runs at 35w instead of ~15w.
Therefore under load i would trust the machine in the OP to take a higher CPU/GPU load before down clocking to save power/heat.

Thicker more processing power/headroom, thinner and touch screen?
      Probably the differences.

Not a coincidence about the price if you know what i mean….

  • So close to getting this. Looks like I just missed out on the 10% cashback Cashrewards were offering. If they do that again in the next couple days, I'm getting this for sure.

    • Shopback is back at 10% cashback now for ALL Dell models.

  • Bought this last year for $1058

    • Wow, that's cheap. For the exact same specs?

      • +4

Just wait for the next Dell Ebay 20% off. Many of us got this same model with the same specs for around $1,050 - $1,100.

      • Yes

  • Is there a SODIMM slot for RAM expansion?

  • Does this come with office apps such as word and excel?

    • No. But you can option them in at additional cost.

  • For those Googling reviews, this is a variation of the 5510 model.

Whoever is planning to buy this one, Buy the i7-11390H Model instead, which costs exactly the same - Click Here

    • they are the same?

      • +2

The one I linked is the one with "Intel i7-11390H", which is a bit better than OP i7-11370H.

        • You can also select the alternate "Mist Blue" colour with this configuration.

  • This is an upgraded model to last years. Key upgrades include webcam privacy slider, finger print scanner, faster Intel h processor compared to U, and most importantly a grey finish to the keyboard instead of the very hard to see silver finish on last year's model. Back light keys needed to be turned off during the day. I have both models, the new model is worth the extra money. Also eBay purchase you don't get 5% cashback and discounted extended warranty. Also note this has thunderbolt 4 USB C, I agree, get the i7-11390h model.
