Arctic P14 140mm Pressure-Optimised Fan 5pk $49 + $15 Delivery @ PC Case Gear

160

First crack at sharing a deal, here goes nothing.

These are Arctic's standard pressure optimised case fans and they work a treat.

$64 odd dollars for a 5pk of these, haven't seen these kind of prices for a while, as I'm making builds, last time I got them for $78 off Amazon. Bought 4 5pks w/ delivery for for $211 (20 fans).

Some Arctic stuff at good prices at PCCG on pre-order with a one week wait, check for some of the other 5pk deals going on.

Not sure what these generally go for so can't comment on how good a deal it is, but worth noting these are 3-pin, not the generally more desired PWM

    • 1 fan is like $18 on Amazon so this is decent.

No RGB no deal, is that even legal?

don't give a stuff about RGB, however as an above poster said PWM would definitely be preferred.

    • Nah, I think that's a selling point

  • Non pst…

120mm ones available for pre order as well.

  • What is the difference between the Pressure optimized ones vs the Arctic F12 range?

    • +1

I've looked into this recently, my explanation might not be 100% accurate, but hopefully you get the gist.

Pressure optimised fans have been designed to consider that there may an obstruction restricting the free movement of air on the intake (mesh filter) or exhaust (CPU cooler fins or radiator).

Air flow optimised fans, have been designed to move as much air as possible, but work well/better when there is no obstruction.

The Arctic P-series is pressure optimised, the F-series is air flow optimised.

I see. I understand now. So if I need to find a fan for my Noctua U12 heat sink I ought to be looking at the P series.

I don't have a thick mesh filter for my case fans - but rather like a thin mesh. Should I use a F series or a P series still?

        • I'm still learning myself, so I'm not 100% sure and I don't want to lead you astray. I'd probably see if there are any specific reviews regarding fans that have been tested on the U12.

But this is how Arctic describes (verbatim) the difference between the series:

"Comparing F- and P-Series: Which BioniX fan is the right one for you?

The fans of the F-series are characterized by a high air flow and transport a large amount of air when there is little to none air resistance. This means they are ideal for use as case fans.

By contrast, the P-fans guarantee consistently high cooling performance due to the increased static pressure in situations with increased air resistance. Fans of the P-series are therefore particularly suitable for use on heat sinks."

@FasterLad: thanks mate. I am also now checking their website. I have been out of the PC building loop for too long. Now you need a phd to understand about pc fans :)

            • @jeeg: If it helps, I'll be running 5x P12's on my case as soon as they arrive from Amazon (3x intake, 2x exhaust) along with one of Arctic's CPU coolers.

I guess my logic for running all P12's was that I have no idea how much the mesh filters on my PC case restrict airflow, but I thought I'd err on the side of caution in case they were.

Arctic appears to have been building quite a reputation as a brand that's really hitting that price-performance sweet spot.

EDIT: LTT Tier List for CPU Coolers might be a good starting point:

              • @FasterLad: That's cool bro. I also have 5 x fans but they are 2 intake, 1 exhaust, 2 for noctua u12. I just ordered the 5600X and the motherboard and ram and am now researching on fans to complete the build.

                • @jeeg: The P12’s work just as well as the F12’s as case fans funnily enough. Maybe different if you have a pure airflow case.

I have mesh front and bottom, so I use the P12’s 4 intakes (1 of which is bottom mounted) and 1 exhaust.

                  • @ATangk: Thanks mate. I wanted the RGB ones - just bought the P12 ARGB PWM PST fans from Amazon.

                    • @jeeg: O these are new. I didn’t know they had rgb ones… not that it matters to my closed case haha.

                      • @ATangk: they actually had the RGB ones and the Addressable RGB (aRGB) ones :)

  • 15$ delivery! When amazon does it for free even from different international locations for something costing 49$.

    • Probably comes pretty close to their actual costs.

Amazon on the other hand are happy to give you free delivery, even if it's at a loss on a particular order, because they know they'll make a greater profit in the long run.

I know, but 15$ is too expensive for shipping within Australia, Aus post need to cut down their prices. Aliexpress takes 6$ for tracked shipping from China to our door steps. With Sendle you can send a bag worth 25 Kilos for 25 bux throughout Australia. Not the safest, just saying.

  • Great fans, but that delivery price is (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
