    Bargain at half the price

    • -7

mine for 5 months and you will get half the price back

      • 5 months to get half the price is a waste of time

        • -3

how is wasting time? it takes a few minutes to set up initially. And then a second or two to start it

          • -1

@Aequitas: And altogether slowly kill the planet.

    🤮

  • +10

    ….A 3080 for 2500???

Am I missing the part where this is a "deal"??

    • +2

      Don't Pay $3,199
      lol

      • +1

Crazy. We have all seen at least 3080tis going for around this price.

        This is insane.

Why are people so desperate to get a gpu?

None of the games that need an rtx 3x card are any good / good enough to be worth paying so much.

I am waiting for good games first then I will upgrade my GPU.

FTR: I can afford these either way. Even if I bought one, what games would I play on it?

        • +1

Personally i got pissed of at my flaky 5yo pc. And with a 4k monitor and because i build a pc to last 5 years, when i upgrade i go hard.

I didn't like the price, but oh well. I enjoying my card. (Mine wasn't this much $$$ which helps)

So far only played control and journey to the savage planet (@4k/60hz). Maybe the latest doom next.

    • +1

that was the price for a high end RTX 3090 with DOUBLE the VRAM.
      what is this?

      • Yep when they were still few months old some were going for half this price around $1200 - $1300 delivered.

That is quite insane to see some gpu cards go up in price that much almost a year after it was first released.

Crazy time we live in right now my friend.

Yeah a 3090 does not look that bad compared to this right now but for a GPU this is still quite an insane price.

    • It is a deal, for them at least 🙃

  • +3

    crazy world we live in

  • -2

a bit late now maybe you can mine $500 before eth2. then who knows what happens to mining profits.

  • +1

    This is just insane pricing!

  • Paid less for the Strix OC model…

  • +2

    JACK HAS APPEARED

    • +1

      LOOOOOOOL

  • +3

So many cards in stock. Wonder how long they can keep up jacking up prices

    • +3

as long as people keep buying jacked up prices… I was curious enough to write a quick bot and can see how stores jacking up by the day

      • +2

        and how were the results?

  • Why are these so expensive? Is the chip shortage really that bad?

Surely there can't be people still mining this crypto shit.

    • Yes it's that bad. Toyota and Ford have had to cut their production by 40% the past month due to the chip shortage. No one is immune from this shortage.

  • +1

    $2689 NOW

    • this chip shortage is making prices go a little bit crazy lmao

  • I’m gona sell mine I recon online. How much would I get for a 9month old 3080?

    • +1

if you mine this card since jan you probably already break even

      • Nah I only got it around June was second hand paid $1800. I mined a bit after elect was making 250$ a month about

  • Not a bargain

  • Isn't the 3080 Ti this price?

short answer yes and apparently it has been cheaper at least in the last 5/6 deals on ozbargain here

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080…

      • The non LHR cards must be hard to get. Otherwise I'm not sure how to justify this price.

        • I mean with a 3080 being as low as $1300-$1400 AUD at the early stages of the launch.. this is hard to swallow a 3080 ti at $2200-$2300

it is literally about a 66.6% increase or 2/3 more in price for a 10-12% performance boost at most (3080 at $1350 compared to a 3080 Ti at $2250)

obviously prices are different and now and a bit all over the place.. like honestly you can get a RTX 3090 for about $2650 delivered which is only $400 more than a 3080 Ti or 17% increase in price but only for a 4% performance boost..

yeah 3080 is the sweet spot for value.. but if you want to say you have a Ti then 3080 Ti is not bad.. personally both are fine but I will be playing at 4k so the extra 5-8 fps will help keep me in my 60hz limit (maybe more if I get a UHD TV with 4k 120hz if it exists).

          fun times.

          • @AlienC:

obviously prices are different and now and a bit all over the place.. like honestly you can get a RTX 3090

I almost caught on with what you were trying to say until you went back to talk about how pricing used to be, the "sweet spot for value" and the 3090 for some reason.
I was simply talking about the current price of 3080s, here and now. This post specifically. (ignoring how a 3080 seems to be barely justifiable unless you're looking for something specific that a 3080 offers).

maybe more if I get a UHD TV with 4k 120hz if it exists

That's not how this works but I think I see what you're saying, and yeah they exist.

            • @Radiskull: Yeah it's ok don't sweat too much over it half or more than half of the stuff I post on ozbargain is half baked left centre of field stuff I don't even know what I post or comment sometimes.. It's very full r word a lot of times so you are good if it doesn't make any sense haha lol.

I reread it and it was pretty hard for even me to understand and I typed the crazy thing.

Yeah AlienC is a bit crazy or maybe a lot.

  • +4

I'm rocking a gtx1080 and don't plan on upgrading until prices become more reasonable. It's crazy what people will pay for the latest gadgets

    • It's just a crazy world at crazy times

    • These things had a ROI of 3-6 months before. When you could get a card for essentially free by leaving it on to mine and then still make profit of course they going to sell out. Now it's closer to 10-11 months which is a bit more hnngh due to ETH going POS and mass miners smashing other coins which hasn't turned out terrible since RVN shot up in price when they did.

    • I'm also on a GTX1080 and still happy with it. But with all the craziness going on I'll be watching the market and jumping when I see a decent deal (still kicking myself for not clicking buy in 3080 launch night). Not because I need it, but because I'm concerned where I'll be if the 1080 goes tits up (my best mate bought his at the same time I did and his died suddenly at the worst possible time for GPU prices).

In this market it pays to have a spare.

  • Like every other thing in life at the moment, this must be due to CoVid!!

  • Stupid to pay this much when 3080 ti is cheaper and more profitable to mine on (given that's your argument) - just mine ERGO over ETH

  • HODLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!

For Intel Alchemist GPU in Q1 2022.

    • Another company that needs semiconductors.
      Already in a shortage.
      It wont help.

  • +2

Psa, I ordered 3 with bank transfer. Called the store and they checked its lhr.

No problems, just don't bank transfer n order cancelled.

    • Thanks, I called them this afternoon and been told the same thing. Very cooperative and agree to have full refund.

Remember when RTX 3080's were $1200-1300

    Pepperidge farm remembers :(

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/566682

I should have bought two at this price and just SLI'd them.

I know this is a 3080 Ti post but still the price history of this generation has been a bit of a backflip this turn round.

    • Well this is not a 3080Ti post.

      • I know this is a 3080 Ti post but still the price history of this generation has been a bit of a backflip this turn round.

oh **** I just realised that is meant to say

I know this is NOT a 3080 Ti post but still the price history of this generation has been a bit of a backflip this turn round.

        How embarassing

        my apologies

  • +1

Managed to get one in time. Hopefully it is FHR.

    • +2

      You’re gonna love it!

    • According to some posts further up it's not…
Without being FHR this is an insane price.
I'd be checking and getting a refund if you can't get emailed confirmation they are FHR.

    • +1

I called this morning with my order number, they said it's LHR one, even invoice said it's normal. Be alert.

      • That's a shame. Thanks!

        • good to email them to check your case.Very doggy. They have LHR one with lower price. WTH

  • +1

Stop buying at these prices and giving scalpers and manufacturers a reason to rip us off even further man… And good luck with mining when the next phase of Ethereum 2.0 kicks in. Can't wait for that day to happen.

    • +1

This is the result of crypto winners and losers.

Money distribution is probably at an all time high right now with people losing lots and others winning lots so naturally the sellers can dictate their price because there are lucky winners or buyers out there now that can afford to swing their new found spoils around and afford to buy anything whatever they want at whatever price they want.

Age of the winners and lucky gamblers right now.

    • Don't keep your hopes up with Eth 2.0. There is more to mine than Ethereum. For example Ergo gives similar profit at the moment even with LHRs.
