    Ooooooo Hodl….
    dont ask me why….

    • why?

      • Why not? I would HODL, will not pay over MSRP, those who are desperate will kick themselves later on.

        • +7

I paid over MSRP and have not regretted the last 4 months at all. Worth every penny.

Hopefully the next 18 months aren't too boring for you.

          • @pharcyde: He's actually losing money since he isn't mining haha

          • @pharcyde: And what games are you playing that demands a 3080 ? Just curious

            • @solidussnake: Cyberpunk 2077
On an AW3821DW so 3840x1600 resolution.
              Also Flight Simulator.
              Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition.

There are plenty of use cases for a more powerful GPU.

          • -2

@pharcyde: good job, let NVIDIA know that you are willing to pay double the amount so next gen they will be the "msrp" and the year after it will be cost of the "3050 ti". you must feel good, you did your job as a consumer and consumed.

        • +2

Saving a couple hundred $ to not game for a year durring lockdown and you're literally losing money since when you're not gaming you can just mine ETH and will make more than the difference easily.

          • @Doge420: Is ethereum really that valuable? IIRC a card like a 3080 would only make like $15 a month. Provided you run it 24 hours a day.

            • @Void: Based on what calculation? It's like $8 or 9 a day profit if you pay for electricity

              • +2

@quikstix: Fr? I guess I should start mining then.

          • @Doge420: true at the start of the year but with eth 2.0 on its way you have at best 4 more months of eth mining which @100mh/s should be only $8 aud a day if you run it 24 hours.

            • @Lighter Fluid: Still some decent money to be made on it. I have solar so works out, but even at 8 a day for 120 more days still almost a grand 😁

            • @Lighter Fluid: Is this some to do? Can you link a guide for NVIDIA cards, and can I do this with my 5700 xt?

            • @Lighter Fluid: I really want to leatn how to mine Coins. Why not mine ETH BIT and orther coins.

Do you have a good tutorial for a noobie?

            • @Lighter Fluid: Implying eth stays the same and you sell everyday.

If you hold and eth doubles, it was as if you were mining $16 a day for 4 months.

Also eth merge delayed until q1 next year, feb or march at earliest

        • Yeah, the card will pay itself through mining within a year. That is not even mining 24/7 to hopefully pro long the life of GPU.

          • @Zealouz: If you want to prolong the life of the GPU, you are better off mining 24/7.

You maintain the same temperature, no variation, for the entire period.

Much better than mining for 12 hours a day and giving the card a rest for the other 12. Thermal expansion/contraction will help kill the card over time.

            • @CrushJelly: Agreed, the Vram temperature is a problem hovering between 96 to 100 deg, really don't want void the warranty to by changing the thermal pads.

Also had one instance where the computer pretty much freeze itself after 40 hours of mining around that temperature range.

              • @Zealouz: Computer freezing is unlikely to be due to memory junction temp of 100 degrees. The only symptom of an issue with junction temps is throttling. And that only happens at 110 degrees.

                Under 100 is perfectly fine.

The computer freezing is 100% due to an unstable overclock/undervolt - whether it's CPU, GPU or system RAM.

I've been running my two 3080 PCs (downsized from a full 10 x RTX30 card rig) for weeks on end without as much as a restart.

                • @CrushJelly: Thanks for the advice.

Haven't overclock or under volt anything, I mainly use the Lite Profile from Nicehash software so it can be due to that.

                  • @Zealouz: Try the High profile. Do the VRAM temps skyrocket in High vs Medium or Low?

                    • @CrushJelly: Just stayed on lite, because the vram temp skyrocket well pass 100 deg on medium or higher. Right now hovering on 96 to 100 deg, mining for 2 to 3 days straight with a evening break, I am on solar so better off to turn off at night.

                      • @Zealouz: I'd keep going at night. The cost of electricity vs BTC paid for mining ETH is heavily weighted to the BTC.
Solar is a bonus during the day, but it's only worth $1/2 a day. I'd rather make the full $6-8/day instead of half.

        • Hahahaha. I paid probably around $500 over MSRP and have made back over $1.5k since.

You can HODL as long as you want. But you're kidding yourself if you think I'll be the one kicking myself later on.

        • I paid $2k for my 3080 earlier this year, I've made back the $2k mining ETH plus have gamed hundreds of hours on it. I don't get why you wouldn't choose the most optimal financial decision but instead choose to be stubborn?

  • Says · 2nd Generation RT Cores, thought that was LHR?

    • +5

If it's TUF-RTX3080-10G-V2-GAMING then should be the LHR model.

I've sent enquiry to Mwave to confirm this.

      • any updates yet?

    • +4

      No.
2080 is 1st gen of RT core. 3080 is 2nd gen. Regardless of LHR or not

  • +12

Thats some crazy retailer scalping right there

    • +3

concur. although others are selling it at $2,500+

      • That's crap. That's like $1000 over what they should be.

No wonder there's quite a few places with GPUs in stock at these prices though.

  • +2

how do we know it's non-LHR?

  • -1

Il wait until they are sub 1200

    • you'll be waiting till RTX 4000 release's

    • See you in 2023.

      • -1

Someones mad, they paid double the msrp.
Also next gen is out next year not in 2 years.
it will outperform and still be cheaper than what you paid

        • Mad? Quite literally the opposite. I'm very happy with my purchase. I've had the most fun I've ever had on gaming now that I can play maxed out at 165hz. This was a huge upgrade from a PS4. Can you put a price on fun and enjoyment?

I never said next gen was out in 2022. I was responding to the dude who said they'll buy a higher end 3080 under $1200. Which will be in 2023, or maybe not for a while as the gaming landscape has changed.

Of course the newer gen graphics card will outperform the older gen haha. What kind of comment is that? The 5xxx series will outperform the 4xxx series as well. So on and so forth.

  • Come on someone decent 3080 desktop deals 🙏

  • Thanks OP, bought.

  • 99% sure this is the Non LHR model, the LHR model is - https://www.asus.com/au/Motherboards-Components/Graphics-Car… which has V2 on the end

  • +2

Might as well spend $300 more for a 3080 Ti.

    • +1

      this.

  • I just wanna be a coin miner.

  • Too Much, No deal.

  • FYI - This card cost me $1300 at launch.

    • This.. The fact people are frothing at the mouth at $2050 for the same thing just reinforces these prices at retailers / distributors.

      • +1

I know prices have shot up i think $1500 max is the right number for the 3080 in the current market…however the GPU is almost a year old now…..

  • I reckon they are offloading this one for V2 stocks. Happened with their KO series before V2 KO flooding the market with higher prices.
"Okay" price compare to Gainward deal since this is Asus brand.

  • Order one of these on 20/09/20 for $1427 from Scorptec. By Dec there was no sign of the card so jumped on a Gaming X Trio when one was available for $1490.

I just checked on their website and launch day orders are still not completely fulfilled.

  • it's more expensive than the 6900xt, is it worth it?

  • Processing Time (after payment approval): 10 + business days

Lol what… are they hand wrapping them and using uber to send them out ?

  • +1

Ordered and paid. Got an email to say their supplier cannot fulfill the order and a refund will be processed in 4 to 5 days.

    • Same here, purchased on Friday, got the same e-mail just now.

  • Available again

  • I Ordered and Paid, then they turned around and said they couldnt fulfil it, now will take 4-5 days for a refund. Very Bad experience.

  • Checked mwave account this morning. Order has been cancelled with no notice… damn. Did anyone get this deal at all?

    • got a grey answer from Mwave this morning. Order so far not been cancelled.

      "
We wouldn't know unless we opened up the card to check the product code/number & serial number and have it cross checked with the manufacturer (ASUS) as old and new stock could be mixed together from the supplier. We'd simply assume it's LHR.

The V2 model is 100% confirmed LHR but the standard one could be either we have the TUF-RTX3080-10G-GAMING
      "

      • Do they even make non lhr rtx cards except for 3090 nowadays.

    • Same, mine just got cancelled. Frustrating.

    • Yep, cancelled after 4 days in processing. I've never seen an order cancelled by mwave after it goes into Processing. Shame.

    • mine got cancelled 10s ago as well.

      "

We regret to inform you that as of the latest update from our supplier we will not be able to fulfil your order [of ASUS GeForce RTX 3080 TUF Gaming 10GB Video Card] as hoped.

We will organise a refund via your original payment method for this item/s. All refunds should appear on your statement no longer than 4 - 5 business days.

      "

      • Ah, so if you didn't get it, I assume no one did. Probably just a mistaken listing given I can't see too many FHR cards coming to market. Had a feeling it would happen.
