[Pre Order] EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 12GB GPU - XC3 Ultra $2169, FTW3 Ultra $2299 Delivered @ PLE

670

https://www.ple.com.au/Products/646833/eVGA-GeForce-RTX-3080… - $2,169
https://www.ple.com.au/Products/646723/eVGA-GeForce-RTX-3080… - $2,299

Pretty solid deal considering retail price is around $1,900 and most 3080TI's are around $2,900 currently.

*I'm aware 3080s are coming this month for $1,700 also but from the recent 20% price increase on raw materials we probably won't see cards drop much further.

Probably the cheapest 3080ti I've seen in a while

  • +6

Cheaper one is 2x8 pin, the pricier one is 3x8 pin. Just incase someone’s curious.

    • What difference does the pin count make to the card performance?

      • +1

Lower number of power connectors generally means lower power card which may be limiting for overclocking.

        • +1

It's extremely unlikely though. Each of those pins provide 250w of power, your gpu can also pull another 75w from the pcie slot.

That's 575w for a 350w tdp gpu. Most overclock I have seen pushes it to about ~400w.

You might want it if you plan on overclocking it with liquid nitrogen or something.

I haven't had a GPU with a third 8 pin in a while, but the last one I had didn't even require it to be plugged in

3070ti at 1400 makes more sense in this crazy market. Extra 1g for what 10/20 fps pffff

    • +2

do you think its wiser to wait for a 3080 LHR to drop a bit furthre or just go with 3070ti?

ive got a 1080 and trying to see if its worth upgrading…not sure about the cost-benefit proposition of the 3070ti…

      • +3

3070 ti is something like 6% performance increase over a regular 3070. The only time it makes sense to get the TI is when they're within $100 of each other (posted yesterday on ozbargain). A good comparsion site is https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-3070-Ti-vs-…

        • +4

As I said.. its a crazy market right now and I'm not paying 2g for a card, but also not waiting another year to upgrade. If you have the coin pay for what is in your budget. Crypto is a volatile son of a b and who knows when it will piss off. Respect to people holding but I didn't want to and I'll be damned if I give one cent to a trash rat scalper

          • +1

@ttacx: i pulled the trigger on a Colorful bilibili 3070 for $1280 recently, im done waiting. Its already going up again
but to pay an extra $800-$1000 for a 3080 isnt feasible for me
end of the day its all about what ur willing to spend.

        • so is the 3080 worth getting over the 3070ti/3070?

          • +2

@ASOT: 3080 is roughly 31% performance increase over a 3070 so you would need to land a 3080 for ~$1,600 for it to be cost effective. Anything higher and you're paying a premium - hope that helps :)

        • thank you!

      • There's a real possibility of prices increasing. Manufacturing costs are going up and with the large lockdowns of NSW and VIC we might see a drop in the AUD value. Then again the 4000 series might change things a little, hopefully offering better value.

      • +1

I wouldn't wait for LHR versions to drop, I think miners are bypassing Nvidia's LHR limit and achieving ~80% of the non-LHR versions.

    • Where are you getting a 3070 ti for $1400? They're more like $1700+ from what I've seen.

    • 3080 is the minimum needed for 4k gaming though right?

      • no champ

      • I do plenty of 4k gaming on my 2080 super and it does great at 60fps!

      • -2

a 1070 is okay for 4k low settings on the latest games, or med on older games and high setting on even older games

        • +3

          1070? Hell no

        • +3

I will choose 1440p med settings over 4K low settings any day.

      • *4k ultra

        • What games at 4K Ultra setting? And what FPS are you aiming - 60Hz, 144Hz, 240Hz?

          • @edfoo: Tbh I've never had a monitor more than 60hz but thought I might as well try out 144. Don't think there's 240hz 4k monitors. Will mainly play FPS's I think

  • +10

My FTW3 Ultra has been running like a champ, highly recommended. PLE were great to deal with too.

    • +2

+1 top blokes and good card

  • +1

    I'm glad I ordered the 3070Ti yesterday

  • Thanks mate, finally pulled the trigger on the ftw3

  • +2

    and it's gone.

    • +1

yep sold out now, all of em.

  • I really have to wonder if any of these stores enforce the one gpu per household rule.

    • Yes, but nothing stopping anyone register multiple accounts and place and order or pickup in store.

  • i have been waiting for a graphic card deal the whole day, but still missed this one.

    • +1

Sorry mate it was sold out within 20 minutes of me posting it here - but I got mine around 5pm so it was there for a while

      • Weird I checked their site around 6pm and didn't see anything. Is this stuff not listed under the normal GPU section?

        • +1

I actually called them about this one 2 weeks ago - I thought it being $900 below the rest was an error but they assured me it was not. Idk if it was because I was super polite but they also told me it was going on sale early September so I had been checking it once a day this week.

You can view all of the GPU's they have here https://www.ple.com.au/RTX30-Buying-Information#buying and see when they're expected in stock :)

          • @Xsj: True, enjoy your GPU

OzB alert emails are so slow, only got notified of this now

      Rookie mistake.

I watch https://www.ozbargain.com.au/live while listening to podcasts.

      • Unfortunately it doesn't allow desktop notifications currently. Have the live page pinned as a desktop app but still have to keep checking it.

There is no reality where I spend over a grand on a videocard if it isnt future proofed for 10 years. This market is unbelievable.

    • +2

I was baulking at spending $2300 for a new but decent PC…..but that for a graphics card?!!!

I'd have to live on a PC to pay that.

  • I'm aware 3080s are coming this month for $1,700

      https://www.ple.com.au/RTX30-Buying-Information#buying

You can view when they're coming into stock and there's 2 for $1,699 expected this month :)

      • probably all 3 of them like they had with this sale

      • -1

Listed as not taking orders on anything 3080 except the $2000 gigabyte aorus, which is in stock. Glad I grabbed the trinity oc 2 weeks ago and are now enjoying it.

    • Can confirm. I backordered 3080 FTW3 Ultra back at the start of April, just received an email from them saying the ETA for my card is 28th of September. Glad I managed to hold out and not pay extra to get the 3080Ti earlier. I got the 3080 for $1349, definitely worth waiting a bit longer.

  • +6

I had a 3090 FTW3 Ultra that developed a fault. I went to PLE which advised that it was EOL and that they can only refund.
I spoke directly with EVGA, who are simply amazing for warranty, unfortunately have to ship item back to Taiwan at a cost of $100, but got an advanced RMA and they are shipping the card to me with collateral payment before I send the faulty card back and get the refund.

Not sure what PLE was talking about. I suspect they wanted me to fork out the $700+ on a newly priced card.

    • +3

PLE probably didn't have stock to give you.

      • +4

They said it is end of life, no longer being made. EVGA confirmed it is still being made.

        • Right. They could upsell…got it.

        • If you bought it at a good price, perhaps they refund you, send it to EVGA, they get a replacement and sell it again with a marked up price?

          • +1

            @FabMan: I think so. I got it for $2750

            • +2

@euk: Meanwhile you buy an inflated priced GPU off them, they get the deal twice over.

    • +3

Report them to accc/evga & leave reviews.

I had thought ple had cleaned up their act (imho they used to be a bit dodge when it was just the old staff in the old wangara store) but maybe not

  • Solid deal, makes me want to cancel my 6900xt ($1999) and get this instead.

    • Why? I believe 6900xt deal was better

  • Brought XC3 Ultra 2 weeks ago from PlE & I got mine recently last week. It's worth the price at long as you have strong cpu that wont bottleneck it & handles the extra heat this card produces.

    • +1

as you have strong cpu that wont bottleneck

      Most CPU's aren't a bottleneck anyway? Unless you're talking about CS:GO.

handles the extra heat this card produces

      What?

      • +1

You do want good case air flow for a 3080Ti. I have a Strix, and when it was air cooled it was easilly hitting 75c while gaming, with all the fan noise you would expect from a card running at that temp. This is in a Lian Li o11 XL with 10 fans, so airflow wasnt an issue. Would have hated to see temps in summer. If I didnt water cool the, I would have found it pretty hard to live with.

      • I'm getting 75ish% gpu usage on warzone close to 4K at unven 100ish fps with i7-8700k 4.3ghz. Changing graphic from low to mostly max out doesn't hit fps much, so it's clear a cpu bottleneck is somewhere in play as my cpu usage is over 70% iirc. It get similar results with apex legends as well but the overall average FPS is much higher.

I meant to say the card runs really hot & I get similar temp results from other users. 80ish degrees in full load. If you put the hands near heat sink, it pushes hot air horizontally towards glass panel from my observation which does not do any favours with my aging Fractal Design Define Mini C TG case with 5fans. My AIO is pretty old so that could be the factor to take in consideration and cleaning the dust out does significantly improve temperatures
        https://forums.evga.com/m/tm.aspx?m=3141142

        • If you CPU isn't at 100%, then your CPU isn't the bottleneck. It could just be the game not wanting to run it at higher frames. Why don't you use a proper benchmarking tool instead of relying on average FPS (comparing it between games like they are the same).

          • @askbargain: I'm pretty sure it is CPU bottleneck for Warzone in particular as GPU time indicator mentioned in the game at top, would be 6ms and CPU times would be 10ms. I have experienced when FPS drops hard to 30s when running away from explosive gun fights and the CPU usage would be 90% for 2 of cores iirc for example. It's just doesn't feel good playing with slowdowns like that.

I also looked up warzone youtube videos with similar hardware (i7-8700k + 3080 for example) and they say upgrading the CPU/overclocking helps with low GPU usage/FPS by a lot. So it's clear a CPU bottleneck with that game.

I don't have budget at the moment to buy new CPU/motherboard etc & just waiting out for new DDR5 ram to be well priced. But I am still waiting for my Compressed Air can to come home so I can properly clean the AIO & PC case in general to keep temps low as possible and start overlocking CPU to see if it improves FPS.

I tried 3Dmark time spy benchmark and the CPU usage seems to rarely hit the maximum of 80% while fully taxing the GPU so it's seem fine for any other game that's not CPU intensive/needs very high FPS

  • Solid deal

  • +3

so glad i waited 9 months for my 3080, got it for $1250 atleast

    these prices are crazy

    • But what if you put that money into doge 9 months ago?… gotta factor in your opportunity costs too.

  • Deal is gone

    • +1

Dont worry, someone from here will buy and repost it on ebay for extra.

This gen Nvidia RTX 3080's, 3080Ti's and (especially) 3090's with the extra memory modules on the back seem to run REALLY hot.

Makes me (for once) genuinely impressed with what AMD have pulled off with the RX 6900XT.

Beats even the 3090 at 1080p and 1440p gaming.
Can do Ray Tracing albeit with a bigger frame penalty than even a 3080…but to be honest, not really that impressed with Ray Tracing.
Fidelity FX is not as good as DLSS 2.0 but considering that all the consoles are running AMD hardware, and Fidelity FX is platform agnostic, I think this will not matter much.

Once you throw in the Smart Access Memory if you have a new gen AMD CPU, better price and availability, and that the latest gen AMD CPU's GPU's seem to have a great handle on heat,

The only reasons for buying a 3080Ti or 3090 at these inflated prices (6900xt's can regularly be had for <$2k),

    • You are 4K or 4K+ gaming
    • You really just want what has the highest price tag
    • You are using specific niche features for NVIDIA (e.g. noise cancellation, certain rendering applications, high hashrate mining, certain VR games)
    • Professional use cases
    • You simply like Nvidia

Just my opinion, please don't abuse :)

    • +1

The 6900xt can handle 4k gaming just fine :)

      • Not as good as 3090 at 4k

        • For $1K less… i can deal with the 3090 beating it at 4k

          • @Megahowler: it doesn't beat it by much though. You could easily o/c the 6900xt to match or beat the 3090 via soft mod. 3090 is alot more harder to o/c.

https://www.3dmark.com/spy/22694767 - This is on air.

obviously if you care about RT/DLSS then the nvidia will be the only option right now.

    • can add Nvidia Shield to the specific niche features - and future proofing from a DLSS/Ray Tracing perspective

      • +1

I think DLSS and Ray tracings gaming future in the specific NVIDIA implementation looks dead in the water considering Xbox PlayStation are both using AMD hardware.

They will both exist but future implementations will need to work on AMD hardware or risk dying a slow NVIDIA exclusive death.

        • +1

It will be a few more years before AMD's comes close or beats NVIDIA. But I agree, most people don't realise that AMD is pretty good for their use case. However if someone is in the market for a GPU, they should look up what software they use and their compatibility as AMD falls short in many areas.

    • I think only the 3090 has extra memory modules on the back of the card. 3080 ti and below don't have it.

But this generation is so much hotter than the previous. I had to change my case due to the heat this card generate.

  • Did they take preorders they weren't getting stock for?

eVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti XC3 ULTRA 12GB GDDR6X showing as red and purple (not taking orders, people with current orders have no eta from 8/9)

    • I got an eta for the ftw3 ultra for 27th of Sep 2021

      • Yes, they have no queue without an ETA for that FTW3, but there is a queue without an eta for the XC3 Ultra apparently.

  • Finally got it dispatched

    • Same mine dispatched today :)

      • Cant wait to finally get it lol

        • Same! praying nobody gets any DoA cards :)
