  • Hmmm, ordered the A119v3 last week for $140 and they haven’t shipped yet.
Maybe I should cancel and get this?

    • +3

      You should :)

      • Damnit I missed out on this deal 😔

  • +1

Some reviews say it doesn't support buffered parking mode. What is that?

    • I believe it was unstable and therefore disabled via firmware. It's something that should be noted, thanks. I'll add that to the description.

      • Is VIOFO A139 Dual 2-Channel is better compared to this? Recently it was on sale for $254 on eBay
I think it can record 1440p 60fps with front and back camera (without internal camera) and support parking mode.
I know there's no LCD display but I am not going to look at LCD all the time can use mobile app to view videos
Is it worth extra +$70 compared to this?

        • I read that this may have overheating issues like the A129 Pro unfortunately. This seems to be a better buy if you don't need the parking feature.

    • +1

You will need the hardwire kit to enable parking mode. Once that is available, buffered parking mode will give you 5s pre-event recording incase the recording is triggered. Motion or shock/impact to your vehicle.

    • Thanks for the replies everyone - seems like a good feature to have.
Any alternative suggestions that feature it?

  • -3

Isn't this a better deal and better rated?

BTW THIS is the Viofo A129 plus duo

    • You linked to the non-Plus version. That is okly 1080p front and rear.

  • Doesn't state "plus" in the Amazon title.
Can you confirm that this is the "plus duo" and not just the "duo"

    Cheers

    • Yes, it does say "Plus" at the very end of the Amazon title.

VIOFO Dual Dash Cam, 2K 1440P 60fps+1080P 30fps Front and Rear Dash Camera with Wi-Fi GPS, Parking Mode, Emergency Recording, Super Capacitor, Motion Detection (A129 Plus Duo)

      • Oh, ok.
        Thanks.
Been waiting for a deal on the pro.
        Buying 2
        Awesome.

  • Where would you get a power feed for the rear camera in an i30?

    • +4

There is only one power feed to the front cam. The rear is connected to the front cam and doesn’t need its own power

    • +4

There's a cable that runs from the front camera, which powers and sends data to the rear unit

        • +1

It's all part of the a129 duo kit. There is a mini usb cable that goes from the front unit to the rear unit.

That's a hardware kit used to hardwire the unit. It runs to the front camera, which allows parking mode (and a cleaner setup). If you don't need parking mode, you could skip the hardware kit and just run a usb power cable to the unit.

          • @Butt Scratcher: So you have to run a cable from the front to the back? Do the pros run it through the roof lining?

            • +3

@RangaWal: I can't speak for the pros, but as a clueless amateur that is basically what I did for my car.

I was able to completely hide about 95-98% of the cables by just running it through the spaces along the lining.

Check out youtuve, there's a good chance someone has uploaded a video of themself doing it for your particular car if you are interested in doing it yourself

    • I wired one of these up in an i30 recently.. you just need the camera and the 3 wire hardwire kit and then a double micro (or is it mini?) fuse blade (ordered from ebay)

you basically stick the rear on in and then run the long USB cable along the roof lining gap towards the front and then you wire it all in.

  • Can anyone suggest a Sydney installer?

  • no!!!just bought plus duo for 234 inc hard wire…..not received yet!this is the deal!

  • i have a spare 64GB Sandisk Extreme microSD. Can someone confirm if the 64gb should be enough? Assuming the older videos will be erased as it runs out of space?

    • +2

From what I've seen - an average driver will get 1-2 days worth of recordings with 64GB and this model.

      • Although tho dwal has expired now, I have a question about what type o microSD are best to use in dash cams.
        Anything thoughts

      • Thanks, helps!

    • It is around 300MB per min on high quality setting.
Approx 3.5 hours worth of recording.
I normally drove for around 90 mins in total to work so 256GB card is a must for me in case a faulty speed camera like to take my photo :p

      • Sorry, might sound like a stupid question - but when that 3.5 hours is done, you don't have to manually erase the files right? It automatically overwrites the older video?

        • +2

          Yes - auto over written

  • +4

Can anyone suggest a Brisbane installer…

  • Great !
Was eyeing on this for a few days
    Thanks !

  • Can someone confirm if this can now record 1440p 60fps at the front and simultaneously 1080p 30fps at the rear? When the unit came out I heard that 60fps was only available if no rear camera was connected.

Reading the following from blackboxmycar indicates the following:

You might have seen some VIOFO A129 Plus Duo reviews on YouTube where the A129 Plus Duo is capable of 2K QHD at 60FPS and Full HD at 30FPS simultaneously. Unfortunately, many of those review videos were made with the first release of A129 Plus Duo "Testing" unit, and since then, VIOFO has removed that recording option from the official product.

However, it appears that the new VIOFO firmware update addresses this and unlocks the option to record in 2K QHD @ 60FPS when used in a dual-channel setup. We are currently investigating this and will have an update shortly. Thank you for your patience.

Can someone with an updated unit confirm?

    • I run f/w 1.5 on mine (June 2021 release) and I can set 21:9 @60fps and 1080p @30fps.
I didnt run it on 1440p as it consume more space without benefit (you will be recording your bonnet on 1/2 of the screen mostly)

With that , it is already nudging the write limit on Sandisk high endurance card.

  • +1

Another victim of "I bought it last week for more money".

  • +1

how much is a typical installation?

  • Should I get A129 Plus or A119 V3 if a rear camera is not needed?

    • +1

      119 v3

  • So do Oz Bargainers generally prefer Viofo over Blackvue?

    • +6

So considering we are bargain hunters, yes.

    • +1

I dont know if the Blackvue vids I see on youtube are all just set at low resolution? But the Viofo vids I see seem much clearer anyway?

  • Good memory card suggestion for this?

  • +1

Can this act as a reverse camera at all?

  • +2

If buffered parking mode is important and this unit doesn't do it, what model/brand do people recommend as an alternative?

    • +1

      A139

      • +1

From the same company that just removed it in other products? Nope.

    • Strangely the regular a129 duo (1080 verson) has it. At release, it just had the regular parking mode but then a firmware update gave it buffering mode.

These kinds of features should be properly tested before selling the product IMO

      • Thanks for that. The A129 duo is more expensive ar $209, which I'm guessing people don't think is a bargain price. I wonder if 1440p is more important than buffered parking mode?

  • Tossing up between this or the Redtiger F7N Dash cam. Redtiger is slightly cheaper.

  • +3

Sandisk high endurance 128gb also seems to be on sale if you want to pick up an SD card at the same time: https://www.amazon.com.au/Sandisk-Endurance-microSDXCTM-Adap…

    • My understanding is that the unit can take 256Gb card, right? Wouldn't it be better to get a 256Gb right?

      • +1

Yes but it at a much higher price/GB ratio.

      • With this discount I'm satisfied with 128. There was no offer on the 256.

  • Damn they took Ed buffered parking mode away…

Does anyone have any other suggestions for something similar with decent buffered parking mode?
My car is parked for more than 4/5 days at a time.

  • What is a reasonable price to get these installed in a 2018 Kluger?

Any recommendations of a installer in Melbourne North?

  • Which dashcam is recommended for parking mode?

  • +1

I'm interested in who is hanging around my vehicle without actually touching it. Will this record this is a format that I can view or do I need one with this "buffered" parking"? Was leaning toward the a139 but note that Amazon's price went up $60 today. Cheers ozbargainers

  • +3

To everyone who's thinking of getting an installer to do the installation, just know that you can do it yourself as it's relatively easy. I have done it on both a Toyota Corolla hatchback and Rav4 SUV and both has taken around 30-40 mins at most. The dashcams come with a trimming tool that helps you slide the wiring into your vehicles trims. Just make sure you keep the cable away from any airbags. You can see tutorials/guides on youtube.

    • do you have a link to the best guide on youtube? Sorry, not being lazy, just want to know which one you thought was useful to do yours.

      • +1

Something like this would help. Just always make sure the cable is not crossing over any airbags in your vehicle as the locations of airbags vary between cars.

        • Just a question when you install it did you need to buy fuse taps seperate to the hardwire kit? Cheers

          • +1

@Ian897: I can't help you there as I never installed the hardwire kit.

          • +1

@Ian897: You def want to use fuse taps as it makes it way easier and quicker.

Just need a multimeter to find a fuse with permanent power and engine on only power.

  • Has anyone used Rexing Dash Cam?
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Rexing-Dashboard-Recorder-G-Sensor…

Reviews are pretty good and price is also not bad for 4K.

    • Reviews say it isn't native 4k

    • Sensor used is 4mpx . Real 4k needs 8mpx sensor :)

  • Any deals on A139?

  • Coupon not automatically applied at Check out, anyone having same issue?

  • This deal been ended now it’s coming up for $236.

  • Was just trying to buy and having some issues, then I realised they've upped the price now to $236

    • Yep i can see 236$ as well.

  • Phew ordered one before the price went up again to $236 ($15 disc then $221)

  • Back to $236 :(

  • Missed the deal. Will wait for the deal to come back

  • Sooo… Amazon used my old cancelled card yet apparently the order still went through - the other stuff I ordered at the same time complained and I had to change it.

Did I just score a free dash cam…?

    • +1

      They charge when shipped.

      • Yeh, got an email.. Oh well! Bargain price anyway.

  • Bought this for my dad with the hardwire kit. Can someone please let me know if a fuse tap is needed/what the purpose is?

    • +1

the hardware kit is necessary for the parking mode.
fuse tap is the connection to the internal fuse/car wiring panel, for the hardware kit.

      • Thank you! So I’ll need to purchase it for the hardware kit to work?

        • well, i don't know, because the installer that i paid to install mine,
he used his own 'fuse tap' to connect it to my car's internal circuitry.
