You can pay partially with GC to get the remaining amount below 2K to qualify for Afterpay 15% off.

    • How do you do that? I bought gift cards to get the remaining amount under $2k. While the afterpay option is available, PXTRA5 doesn't work. I wonder if I have to use the gift cards to get it below $2k BEFORE the PXTRA5 code is applied. I was using PLUS10T at first, so I guess that's why I tricked myself

      • I have not tried this time. The last Afterpay sale I did the purchase, I put in GC first, then apply the discount code after the balance was below $2K.

        • Shame. It's definitely not working for me. Best I get is being able to use afterpay to pay the rest. Ah well

          • @sephiris: I take it back. I have just tried it out myself, the previous method does not work this time …

    • How much actually can you save? Is it worth for leaving insurance benefits from credit card?

  • I bought this tv and luckily enough I was able to swap it for 9500h.
Only reason why I swapped it because there was too much reflection going on the screen , especially with the amount of sunlight I get.

    • how do you which tv is good and bad with reflection?

      • Went to Costco, they had the 9000 and x90j side to side, not going to lie but my first option was 9000h but I jumped on the previous x90j deal and quite regretted it.

It's only because I get a fair bit of sunlight during the day, it's very annoying having to watch the tv with a glare. Not everyone got the same sunlight brightness, angle , windows refraction as me.

No HDMI 2.1 on the 9500h tho?

HDMI 2.1 is not needed on X95H for gaming. You can set your Xbox to 1080p 120 frames and get the TV to upscale to 4k. You retain the 10 ms response time and it looks gorgeous with all the features. The newer TVS don't get Freesync or Gsync either, so that's literally the only difference between the newer models. The X950H has the decent contrast and solid picture quality also. If you have a PC you can force 1440p at 120 and upscale that to 4k to make it look even better. HDMI 2.1 is a bit pointless on Sony TVs as they don't really get much advantage from it. The X95H also has an EARC port for sound.

    • I thought this is supposed to perform well against reflections?

I have this TV and it's just ok with reflections (I have it in a very bright room). The Hisense Q8 I had before this was better in that area, but the Sony is plenty bright enough to make up for it. And I wouldn't want to swap out for the 9500 as it doesn't have HDMI 2.1 and never will. The X90J works well for what I need it for, I can live with the marginal reflection handling.

        • Can I ask why you didn't keep the Hisense Q8?

          • @Master Haggler: It was a hot mess from the start. Problems with inputs, weirdness with Dolby Vision, random info panels popping up when they shouldn't be … Hisense couldn't do a damn thing to fix it after half a dozen phone calls to tech support, so they eventually refunded me for it. It was rubbish, others' mileage appears to vary.

            • @TheFunkySalsa: Fair enough. I bought the 65Q8 last year for my bedroom and am very happy with it. I'm now looking for another TV for my lounge room. On the short list is the sony X90J. Besides the issues you had how does it compare?

              • @Master Haggler: The Sony has Google TV, which beats the crap out of VIDAA which sucks IMO. It also has Apple Homekit and Apple TV, which is huge because I'm mainly a Mac user. Picture is considerably better and brighter, especially in HDR and Dolby Vision content, and the game mode is awesome. Much better TV all around.

              • @Master Haggler: I also got mine from the Sony store, Costco were doing a deal for $1999 a few months ago and they matched it via online chat no problems and no proof required. Stacked that with 8% Cashrewards cashback at the time and it was a great deal.

The HDMI 2.1 is near pointless on Sony tvs, there is nothing too advantageous about it over last year's models. I mean if you had a Samsung VA QN90A then that's a different story, but our Samsung models in Australia are IPS, so we got screwed royally.

You can set the Xbox or PS5 to run at 1080p at 120 frames and get the TV to upscale to 4k. Retains 10 ms response and all the bells and whistles. You might be able to push it up to 1440p a that same response time too. No need for HDMI 2.1, Sony tvs don't get Sync technology. 4k 120p native drops a lot of detail, even on newer televisions and consoles.

        • There seems to be a thin film on the screen. Wondering if this also adds to the reflections. Should this be removed?

    • Were you able to swap via Sony Ebay? Also thinking about swapping due to poor reflection handling.

      • Yeah I just said the box came damaged, not surprised , half the truck had screens fallen on the truck or were on an angle.
I said I wanted to swap to the 9500, they didn't have an issue.

    • How's the picture quality on the 9500? Is it noticeably better than x90j?

      • Not significantly better, but it has the wide viewing layer which makes a huge difference off angle. The contrast on the X90J is better, both are pretty much the same in all other respects. Build quality is better on the X95J, a lot better.

  • Why no x95j yet?

    • Limited stock, they've just started coming to Australia, and they are at a really high price right now. Maybe in a few months…

  • what is the best 75 inches tv can you get for around $2200? mostly use for netflix and xbox x here and there.
