XFX RX 6800 Xt Speedster Merc 319 16GB (EX-DEMO) $1549 + Shipping @ PLE

200

I have been on the hunt for a discounted high end GPU and accidentally came across this. They have a few in stock but I know they're selling fast because the 6800 model sold out within a few hours of listing.

According to PLE "Ex demo is normally cards on display but rarely used, that still come with the standard warranty"

I have watched a view reviews and these cards are very long so be mindful but if you can fit it you have one of quietest versions of the 6800 xt.

    Ex-mining?

    • +1

Not 100% sure but you get the same warranty as buying it new from what I've read and I strongly doubt it's mining as that would be considered more used than ex demo.

    • +1

This is exactly what I'm wondering. If you read many of the news coming from overseas there'd be hundreds of mining cards sold as new or near new. They probably get cleaned up then re-sold as demo or such. You wouldn't hear shops advertised a used card as used.

      Read the description, refurbished.

      • Agreed.
Aus consumer law allows returns sold by the original seller only, to be identified as refurbs…plus who wants a 63Mh/s card to mine on at the same price & similar scarcity as a FHR 3080?
Even if they were mined out, 6800XT's mine optimally at 850mV/110w (or less) vs 1100mV/293 stock, so no harm done.

even if it was, then the performance wont be affected that much, you can check it out from Linus Tech Tip

  • "EX-DEMO"

    EX-DEMO?haha…more like EX-Mining
for that price, go and ***** yourself PLE.

    • +1

What? $1549 is the best price we've seen for a 6800 XT in over 3 months and with a cooler like that it couldn't possibly have run hot enough while mining to actually damage it. Even used cards on eBay are sold for more.

    • I fkn hate PLE, but honestly, this is/was a cracker deal.

  • Page says Refurbished down the bottom, so might be a warranty replacement

    • +3

      Reburbished after mining.

thanks mate, in the market looking for one of these but this is too far to pull the trigger…

        • do you mean you wouldn't buy a refurbished mining card? also wondering if i should pull the trigger on this

          • +1

@derekab95: well, if you can't wait then go for it. it has warranty so you are covered anyways, and this is the cheapest available card atm.
I have got a 6600 XT red dragon for 740 today to help me struggle these days….

Got their refurbished 6700xt, was advertised as a QICK card but they sent me a MERC instead for the same price (MERC is the higher end card).
Looks as good as new, performs as advertised. Very happy with it.

    • I bought one two months ago for the same price, no problem so far, great value given the normal 6800xt card is priced $1999 @PLE, and FHR 3070 over $1600.

Dont forget the 1.3% cashback from Cashrewards too.

I bought one, will let you all know the condition when I get it in.

    • +2

1.3% of 1549 is 20.137, but I only got a $20.12 cashback, I got ripped off big time

      • Get the ACCC involved on that one, for sure!

        • +2

Who downvoted my comment? They shouldn't be on Ozbargain if they think it's okay to just accept getting ripped off for 2 cents

    Ex-mining 6800XT card is only worth $154.90.

  • +1

I got one of these in the last round of ex-demo refurb's from PLE.
995mV/2600Mhz & 2150Mhz RAM UV/OC, but LOUD. I mean 40% 1700RPM target fan speed is fine for stock clocks, but at 70%, this thing howls.
PLE are not the easiest to deal with, they offer a refund only, no replacement option - which is BS & in contradiction to Aus consumer law.
At the end of the day, this card won the silicone lottery and I game with closed-backs anyway.

    • +2

I guess they don't call it a Speedster for nothing

      • Hehehe. Well played

    • they may be unable to replace a ex-demo card with no ex-demo card in hand.

  • the 6800 model sold out within a few hours of listing

@Ausdom88 - Curious, how much was the 6800 selling for?

    • +1

$1220 which was a great deal.
