  • Oh no more cash back

  • Surely this is a general promotion rather than a specific deal. The price of those products varies wildly from store to store.

E.g. the 2TB 980 Pro goes from $539 to $699 from the stores listed.

    • +2

Yeah but it's handy to know, now people will find the deals and include this in the details.

    • +2

I got the 2TB 980 Pro today for $492.15 at Computer Alliance with ebay plus & afterpay.

      • +1

great score! now extra $70 towards games!

  • 980 pro:

    2TB MZ-V8P2T0BW - $70
    1TB MZ-V8P1T0BW - $40
    500G MZ-V8P500BW - $20

    • +1

Yep, first line of the table.

  • +10

For what it's worth I have bought an SSD under this exact promotion and have just spent an hour trying to submit a claim for it but the system rejects my serial number which the chat support person assures me is perfectly valid. So now I have to write an email to Samsung asking them what the problem is.

It's a lot of time and hassle for a fairly small reward. This sort of thing seems to happen to me a lot which is why I hate these rebate type promotions rather than just going for best price. By the time you factor your time in, and having to wait for ages for the reward to turn up, and making a note to check if it ever does, you can be way behind.

That's why the companies love making these offers. They get more people buying because 'it's cheaper', but you'll find the amount of people who they actually end up paying out on is a lot lower than the amount of people buying. Heaps of people don't claim properly, forget to apply, lose track of their application etc

      • Heaps of people don't claim properly, forget to apply, lose track of their application etc

You're absolutely right that's why companies make these offers - but all the problems above are entirely the fault of the individuals ! If you're organised and you follow the instructions precisely, it's perfectly possibly to have a 100% rebate rate. If you deviate in any way, then you're going to lose…

        • +1

Yeah that's the point I was trying to make - the companies know the people will mess it up and they won't need to pay out on them. They get good brand marketing and it doesn't cost them as much as it should've.

If you are on top of things it's great. From the point of view of the company, they're willing to take that hit because there's going to be lots more people that aren't

        • Not always true, Samsung made it very difficult in a previous offer like this I recall. Sure you could apply and be accepted easily enough but they didn't deliver for a long long time. I think it may have been Borderlands 3? It was a while ago.

    • +9

Serial number on the box is different to serial on the product. There is one extra character on the product.

    • +6

Not sure if related, but you need to use the serial number printed on the SSD (15 characters) instead of the one printed on the packaging (14 characters)

    • Have claimed several cashbacks without any issue & as others have said, you need to use the SN from the SSD itself.

      • I spoke to Samsung chat support who said the 15 character serial # I was trying to use was valid. Perhaps the reason it wasn't being accepted by the promotion system was that it was a newly produced product but who knows. Anyway, I have written an email, attach pictures etc. and now have to wait and see what the response is.

        Lot of hassle.

        • +2

Yep, last time around there were a bunch of serial numbers missing from Samsung's end, so you couldn't redeem until Samsung had manually added your serial to their database.
All part of the rebate game, does it matter as long as you eventually get your rebate ? If you don't value the $150 then just don't bother. If you do want the $150 then you might need to do some admin.

    • Had an issue a few years ago where it just turned out the serial on the NVME was simply too new, Samsung had not updated their system to validate such recent serials as the one I had.

    • Famous last words, both my SNs were appearing as invalid so had to email them 😂😭 still only took 11 days from my first email to receiving my vouchers yesterday.

I’ll never buy a Samsung promotion product again.
Promotion website never worked for my codes and contacting support was a joke. Think it took me about 2 months to finally redeem my product

  • +4

Past Samsung SSD promos worked for me. This promo you were supposed to be able to claim yesterday but there was no submit area on the website.

I waited till today and tried live chat and they agreed website not right and to email [email protected]. They replied end of the day apologies website had issues but fixed now.

I tried to claim and it doesn't recognize the serial number off my drive :(. I've emailed them again and hopefully they sort it out….

    • yeah, the submit section appeared all of a sudden, was'nt there earlier today

    • Seems like I wasn't the only one to ask live chat. Claimed no problem with SN.

    • Just an update for everyone last week they emailed will let me know when this is fixed. I never got a email saying it was but tried it just now and it is working. I can only assume they added in my serial number finally. Got the email up to 7 working days to get the credit sent to my email.

  • Samsung, dragging their feet yet again but by using any means possible to make money.

Good for some I guess yet I just cant help feeling they just dont want their customers to keep the money in their pockets.

  • Got my $40 after 17 hours… straightforwards and fast. Came in 2 x $20 cards.

  • Any decent price for a 4tb 2.5 inch?

  • I bought a second Samsung SSD that arrived today and its serial number also gets rejected by the system.

    https://samsung-redemption.com/customer/#/evoucher/redemptio…

I emailed Samsung promotions 6 days ago when I had problems with the first serial number and have not heard anything back yet. Presumably they are swamped with angry customers.

So all up, if you are intending to try to take advantage of this promotion, be ready to set aside a lot of time for it.

    • Double check the zero vs O letter values in the serial number. I got caught out by entering an O where it was supposed to be a zero, it's very easy to mistake reading them from the label.

      • Yes I had the first serial confirmed by online chat and tried all possible variations in case chat was wrong. I'm not someone who complains about tech issues lightly.

I 100% agree that it is impossible to tell if the characters are the letter O or the number zero and I complained to Samsung chat about it, for all the good that will do.

        • +1

I just had the same experience, definitely getting all the details correct, verified the serial with an agent via chat, it keeps telling me "Invalid SN/IMEI". This is incredibly poor form by Samsung. I'm sure it will get sorted eventually, but so much stuffing around to come I fear.

They said I can email promotions support at [email protected] for help. Would be nice if they made sure their shiz worked properly to begin with though.

          • +1

@foobar: I sent an email to that address a week ago and have not heard anything back.

So far this is a shambles.

            • @B3: I've just chatted to them again, let them know it's broken as others are having the same issue and that no one replies or perhaps even reads emails to that address. They said they would email their "superior" and get them to contact the promo team.

Collectively, the amount of wasted time on this must be incredible.

            • @B3: As per others below Samsung have now advised it was now ok to submit a claim and I have managed to do so!

        • +1

Similar issue with my serial number for a July 2021 manufactured SSD. Hopefully Samsung updates their promotions system with the new serial numbers. Alternatively, I could just use an older serial numbered SSD in it as I have another identical drive too.

          • @Sleepycat3: It's working for me now so suggest anyone with the same issue give it another go. My manufacture date is also 7th month 2021 for a 2TB MZ-V8P2T0BW.

  • +1

I was another one with a invalid SN. July 2021 Manufacturer date. I wondered would it let me register it for warranty purposes though? The answer was no it gave the exact same error. So it isn't a simple stuff up but a slightly bigger one.
So I did the whole email thing. Pictures of the SN that was on the device and all that fun stuff.

Earlier on today about 4pm email came in with.

    Dear customer,

Thank you sending over your serial number details.
We will get back to you once your issue has been resolved, so that you can submit your claim.

    Kind regards,

Samsung RMS (Redemption Management System) Support
    Samsung Electronics Australia

It would have been nice is they explained the issue. Maybe said sorry the July ones etc would be added X day please try again then. I guess that's just asking too much lol.

    • +1

For just before bed 2am funzies I thought I'll try it again. I thought the page was going to break in a unique new way but no I was wrong. Now it's a wait and see what happens next. :)

      • +1

It's working for me now so suggest anyone with the same issue give it another go. My manufacture date is also 7th month 2021 for a 2TB MZ-V8P2T0BW. I'm guessing by what you said it also worked for you too?

I also go the email you mentioned, oddly enough I had not yet sent an email to them outlining my problem with the redemption, seems someone there finally got the message and got it fixed.

        • Not working for me - just tried just now.

          Mine is 1TB 980 Pro - manufactured 2021.07

          • @proudwanderer: Hmm live chat a samsung csr and get them to validate the serial number as zero's can look like O's. The serial on the box was missing a W or somesuch at the end for mine as well.

            • @foobar: No. My serial number is correct. I tried both O and 0 … got the same error.

I used the SN on the SSD not on the box.

I emailed promos and they replied back requesting a photo of the SSD and I sent them a photo.

But haven’t heard anything back since.

I don’t understand why I’m getting the error. What’s the problem?

              • @proudwanderer: Extraordinary incompetence and f**kery on the part of Samsung unfortunately. I would have thought that whatever fix they implemented would have fixed it for all, but sadly not it would seem. I really hope that each and every person that encounters this issue doesn't have to email them to get it sorted, what a mess…

                • @foobar: Had to contact Samsung as well, still not resolved.

                  • @Ctn: This is the response I got back yesterday:

                    Dear customer,

Thank you sending over your serial number details.

We will get back to you once your issue has been resolved, so that you can submit your claim.

                    Kind regards,

Samsung RMS (Redemption Management System) Support

                  • @Ctn: How did you contact them. I can't find anything on the redemption website to reach them.

                    • +1

@archieduh: It's in the terms and conditions pdf

  • Has anyone got their credit? It's been a month I claimed but no response yet. Does anyone have any experience of past offers, how long does Samsung usually take?

    • +1

Mine have taken about 3 months in the past 👍

      • +1

Mine took about 3 days after the site finally accepted my serial numbers.

    • Thanks for sharing. Lot of disparity.

      • I've only ever done the actual cashback rebates, so the game code may will be lots quicker 👍

        • I can see in my "Samsung Redemption Account" that it was "Approved" couple of days back. Let's see when I get the email.

  • +1

weirdly: Samsung said that I attached the wrong proof of purchase even though it's a scan of a the paper invoice included with my order last week. Have sent them the digital invoice from BudgetPC on the 13 Oct and see if they'll accept it.

    • Exact same thing with my redemption. Scanned the paper invoice that came with the package, and Samsung have claimed that it is not a valid proof of purchase even though it has all the info on it that they have requested.

      • Hi 79Scorp, I've just been told by Samsung that if you uploaded the image of the side of the SSD packaging, it's missing a single digit from the end of the serial number. What they're actually after is a 15 digit code found on the SSD label or found on a screenshot of the Samsung SSD Magician software.

  • +4

Mine has been "Approved" for over a week now and nothing still

    • Looks like the TCs say within 2 weeks, so you might be OK. Mines is 15 days so far and nothing, so sent an email to [email protected] to see what happens.

      • +1

any response? i still havent got my code

        • +2

I send an email to them as well. No respond after 3 days. The SSD got approved more than 2 weeks ago

        • +2

I did get a generic response saying it will be emailed shortly, that was approx. a week ago and still no code. Surely it’s not that hard??

        • They may have ran out of steam vouchers? T&C does say while stocks last…

I mean they are giving out farcry 6 codes pretty fast given the amount thats been for sale in the classifieds.

        • I ended up calling Samsung promo support to see whats going on, I was advised to forward my inital confimation of the Samsung redemption email to [email protected] to follow them up and they will honour the redemption.

          Lets see how that goes…

          • +1

@cobez83: good luck let us know how it goes… but i think you will just get the generic "we are working on it u will get the key soon" response…

I also contacted them on FB and same response

      • OK ppls…

This is what worked for me…

Forward your initial confirmation email from [email protected] to [email protected] and let them know that you still have not reciueved your code.

I just recieved my $50.00 Steam Wallet code approx 1hr after sending my email, hope it works for you all that are still waiting.

  • I just got my codes… i guess they are sendign thenm out now

    • Same here, just received my codes.
