6 Months of Apple Music Free for New Subscribers with Apple AirPods / Beats Purchase @ Apple (iOS/iPadOS 15 Required)

680

After installing iOS 15 today I saw this pop-up notification for the Music app:

Get Apple Music free for 6 months.
New subscribers get 6 months free with your AirPods or select Beats products.
Get over 75 million songs, ad-free. Listen online or off, across all your devices. And hear sound all around with Spatial Audio, featuring Dolby Atmos.

How to redeem your offer.

  1. Make sure your iPhone or iPad is running iOS 15 or later.
  2. Pair your eligible audio device to your iPhone or iPad.
  3. Open the Apple Music app on your iPhone or iPad and sign in with your Apple ID. If the offer doesn’t appear immediately after launching the app, go to the Listen Now tab where it will appear.
  4. Tap Get 6 months free.

Which devices are eligible to receive 6 months of Apple Music for free?
Any AirPods Pro, AirPods with Charging Case, AirPods with Wireless Charging Case, AirPods Max, Beats Studio Buds, Powerbeats, Powerbeats Pro, or Beats Solo Pro is eligible. No purchase necessary for current owners of eligible devices. AirPods (1st generation), Beats Solo3 Wireless, Beats Studio3 Wireless, Beats EP, and Beats Flex are not eligible.

I have an Apple audio device that came with 6 months of Apple Music for free. How do I activate my subscription?
New Apple Music subscribers get six months free with an eligible audio device. Make sure your iPhone or iPad is running the latest iOS or iPadOS. Then, you can activate your Apple Music trial after you pair your audio device to your iPhone or iPad. Or visit support.apple.com for more information.

When does my offer expire?
You have 90 days after first pairing your device to take advantage of your six free months of Apple Music. For current owners of eligible devices, you have 90 days after upgrading to the latest iOS or iPadOS to redeem your six months free.

Where can I listen to Apple Music?
You can listen to Apple Music on the Apple Music app and music.apple.com. The Apple Music app is already on your Apple devices. But if you’ve removed it, you can download it again from the app store. You can also listen to Apple Music on many popular streaming devices, smart TVs, and gaming consoles if they support the Apple Music app.

FWIW I was able to see and activate this offer on a pair of AirPods I purchased early in August this year.
The offer should also show up in the Settings App in iOS/iPadOS 15.0 as “Apple Music Free for 6 Months” if eligible. In this option it also shows the expiry date for the offer (23/12/2021 for me) and the option to redeem or set up later in the Apple Music App.

  • Does it say you need to activate it immediately or you can activate it later on a date of your choosing?

      • Ta!

      • Quick question. Are you a completely new Apple Music user or had previously tried the Apple Music trial before?

        • +1

I don’t recall ever doing a trial. I have Spotify PH so never thought I’d use a trial, although the allure of Spatial Audio with my APPros does make me wan to pull the trigger this time ‘round.

  • no luck for me

  • what do i do with the paired airpods? shall i unpair and pair it again?

    • I updated my phone this morning, reset the device again and the offer showed up. Airpods were already paired to my phone before the update.

      • hummm just a quick settings reset works or do i need to erase everything?

        • Reset = restart device. My apologies for the miscommunication.

  • No luck for me, doesn’t come up.
    What do I do?
Already paired pros, have had trials a few time :(

    • New customers. Guess that means no previous trials. :(

Can I use my airpods that bought 3 years ago?

    • As long as it’s not first generation of airpod and you’re new subscriber. Give it a try!

  • I updated to the new IOS 15, airpods were already paired. I was offered two months only.

    • Did you use above link to get offer?

    • Is it possible a trial for Apple Music has historically been used on the Apple ID associated with the AirPods?

Thanks OP, I just activated this. Spatial audio is a pretty cool feature.

  • Anyone know if Family Sharing works with this? i.e. My daughter activates it and I also have access to it with family sharing?

    • +1

It shouldn’t work as it’s 6 months of individual membership. You’d need a Family membership / Apple One to share the AM subscription.
