  • Says it's out of stock already? Is this true?

You'll need to change store to see if your local one has stock. As the stock availability on the good guys web site is linked to the store currently selected. Use the SHOP LOCAL button at the top of the page to change to a different store.

Castle Hill and Carringbah NSW for example still have stock.

      • Thanks for that, picking up 1 now in the store

        Cheers

  • It depends on the store, e.g. Nunawading, Vic have stock. Check via the main website and use postcode.

  • Grabing one now from Artarmon store (NSW)

  • No the greatest reviews on the GG site…

  • Hi
Be careful when you buy from Good Guys. Last Saturday I bought a panasonic inverter Microwave from Chadstone Lifestyle Center. Our earlier one is 800W and new one is 1100W. It's amazing new one is not heating like old one. Then we took that into the store and did several checks. Those guy are telling that's way it works. We ask what the purpose of buying a new technology with more power, if it takes more time to get heat.
We were totally unhappy. Then that guy talked with the manager and they asked us to get new one.
So we selected a Sumsung microwave and took home. It amazing when compare with this one packing and earlier one's packing. What I understood is, panasonic one is already broken and after repairing they sold to us.
Good guy's have done bad work.

  • can this record xbox 360 games ?? and will the quality be any good then those $10 easycap capture cards??

    • stb is to watch tv
      pvr is to record tv

  • I got one of these 2 years ago the capacitors just died in it, I was going to replace caps … instead I will go and buy another one :) Very happy with this unit. I use it as a media player in my bedroom, it doeasnt play mkv files.
Incidentally I took an old LCD monitor and hooked it up via hdmi to it. plugged in speakers to rca plugs and makes for a cheap bedroom telly.

Scored one at Cannington WA branch (near Furniture Spot). Plently more. Cash for $18 but hey if u manage to smitten the sales girl/ guy, u might get lower :)

    • guess i wasnt trying hard enough, i got $18.50…lol

      • Depends on how generous the sales person is. Went to buy Sony blu-ray player at after Christmas sales. Sales person didn't want to give discount saying they were already selling at cost. I pointed out the less for cash, so reluctantly he only offered $1. I then went to ask another sales person and ended up getting $5 off.

  • got one from alexandria nsw - about 15-20 still there.

  • do tuner these days still come as either HD or SD ?

I assume this being so cheap its SD only so wont get the HD channels or is that so 2009 ?

    • They still sell SD only set top boxes, but this is HD so you will get every channel and be able to record to external hard drive via USB.

  • Got one at Highpoint, for $18.50 without asking for a discount. There is heaps there, but i still manage to choose one that was return and didn't have a manual. The use/fuctions is quite straight forward. Only gripe is the subtile keep turning itself on with out promting. Has anyone experience the same problem or my its just my crappy set. Pvr is not so bad, play mov dvd mp4 doesn't play xvid or divx. But recording can be play on the computer, with is a bonus. If you don't connect using hdmi, then don't bother buying, the quality is to crap.

  • So it doesn't play mkv, xvid, or divx. LOL. What DOES it play!?

    • Bought one of these today - and it definitely DOES play mkv files! Disappointing though, is when playing a video file from a USB thumbdrive, it keeps getting "stuck" every so often. Like it's loading the next few MB of the video file before playing it. This causes it to skip several seconds of video too - so you have to "rewind" to see what you missed.

It could be the brand of thumbdrive I guess (Lexar - the lilac 8GB one in their recent catalogue). So is this lockup thing happening with anyone else?

      • Sorry, should have read: "in BigW's recent catalogue."

  • I purchased on from the good guys in geelong, but every time I select a program, the text comes on and I have to cancel text, but when I select another channel, the text comes back.
    Any ideas, anyone?

  • Try pressing the INFO button at the top centre I think it is. Sounds like someone pressed it once or twice. One or two more presses should get rid of it.

If that doesn't work - just take it back and swap it. (I did.)
