  • Would this PSU be powerful enough for me to be able to play E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial The Game?

    • +27

It's powerful enough to send E.T home.

    • +2

No. You'll need an excavator to dig one of those up from the desert. But they buried them for a reason…

Not worth it over this - https://www.pccasegear.com/products/49568/super-flower-leadeā€¦

Antec 90% efficient at 100% load
Superflower 89% efficient at 100% load

Antec 94% efficient at 50% load
Superflower 92% efficient at 50% load

    • +1

Diminishing returns the higher up you go on the rating scale.

    • +7

That's an excellent value PSU, Shiny1 has the right idea when saying that there are diminishing returns.

10yr Warranty Vs 7yr on the super flower.
Louder fan on the super flower
More Ripple on the super flower
80 plus titanium vs platinum (titanium requires 90% efficiency at 10% load which pc's spend a lot of their time)
No semi-fanless mode on the super flower that I could see (Correct me if I'm wrong).

For everyone with a brain, buy the super flower. If you're like me and only want the best then buy the antec for the extra $180

      • +2

Superflower has silent mode. My PC consumers 700watts at full load OCCT testing and fan doesnt even turn on.

Nah, we just buy Asus ROG Thors

    • You would have to game for more than 100hrs each week, for the next 10 years, to make up the difference in electricity costs to justify the extra.

At 50%/500w load the 2% difference is about 10watts.

      100hrs * 52 weeks * 10 years = 52,000 hrs * 10watts / 1000 = 520kW at 0.26c per kW that comes to $135.

I doubt this Antec PSU would be worth it over the long term. That's alot of time spent gaming or working to justify the extra cost.

  • Could buy 5 decent 750w PSU for this price.
