70

Have been looking for a friend and found this deal from onlinecomputer.com.au - think it's pretty great.
Cheapest I can find for the same model on Static Ice is $1039:

Other deals published in the past weeks were on similar laptops but this one with a 500gb hdd is great value IMO.

May not be the best Ultrabook but I have an Acer Timeline X - very similar specs minus the SSD and it's a beast at around the same price, so a good bargain methinks…

  • It seems to do reasonable but not great in the reviews when compared to the other contenders in the ultra portable race. The price seems alright but if I were buying an ultra portable I'd probably save up for a better brand. That's just my thoughts based on sour experience with Acer in the past, I'm sure they've upped their game since then…

    • Yes I'm not a huge fan of Acer but my mate's on a tight badget… When i found this i was quite surprised, hard to say it's not good value.
Like someone else said, it's at least another $300 for a competitors ultra book (albeit better).

There are definitely better ultrabooks available, but this certainly beats all the other contenders in terms of price. So unless you are willing to spend $300+ more for a different brand/model, then this looks like a very good deal.

  • Hope he isn't planning on gaming with a HD3000

    • No it's for music production on the go, i think it will do the job. Hard to find good gaming laptops that are also portable and haven't seen any ultra books that would be ok for even mild gaming.

  • no usb 3.0 and only a 3-cell battery, i think this would date quite quickly and probably wouldn't last too long without charge either.

  • "HDMI 1080p"

    "Display 13.3" HD 1366 x 768 resolution"

I assume you don't know what an HDMI port is for?

  • The 3-cell battery is the main let down of this ultrabook…reviews rate it at 3-4hrs max.

If I was going to get this I'd aim for the i3 model that has been priced at $599-$699 in past deals.

  • I hear the HP Folio 13 is pretty good. I was thinking either that or an Asus Zenbook. Now I can't decide between these three.

If you have the money go for the zen book it's great (see my previous post for a pretty decent price).

    • Wouldn't hold my breath.. ;-)

  • Lol just realised that it sounds like i was looking for a friend…

    • frieand !?

    • Process to get friends in the technological age:

      1) Buy Laptop
      2) Use laptop to find online friends*

*Friends may be bots or not speak the same language, but if theyre on your f-list, they count by todays standards.

      • OK but how do you get real friends? that's the real pickle… :-p
