I just switched to Platinum after many years with Citi Prestige. Its right decision. The prestige card is now a joke. Most of the old (and good) benefits are gone now.

Shame as that was the only real competitor to Platinum - nothing really comes close now.

  • These deals are good but if you're not living in a popular location they just get annoying.

For me so far I've lost $850 travel credits, ordered something online from David Jones that i didn't really need but don't have a David Jones near me to go and look and now this deal with no restaurants within 200km and any online I'm interested in not shipping to me.

    • Why would you not use the $850 travel credits? If you can't travel book a hotel room for a friend.

    • You can try providoor ? Or one of the online stores? Manettas or vics meat

I was really interested in vic meats but they don't deliver to me. The others felt like I was wasting the money buying something I didn't want.

With the David Jones I bought a nice towel for $350 which although nice was probably not what I'd have gone with if I could browse a store.

With the travel credits I don't like the uncertainty that was being created booking random trips. This year I've booked a couple of random flights way in advance but as as the time gets closer they are really inconvenient dates. Because I'm remote I don't even know if I could book any hotels near me on amex.

So really what I was saying is the feeling of wasting the credits or buying stuff you don't want just to use them gets annoying to me and feels wasteful.

        • But you could’ve got a David Jones gift card which have a 36 months expiry.

As for the $300 credit you can also buy a gift card and use it later

As for travel credit, I booked two flights that were canceled. And the refunded the credit for 12 months after.

End of the day the card is not ideal with covid… but they’ve done a lot they didn’t have to which other companies wouldn’t…

          Grocery credit $400 x2 David Jones $200 and restaurant $300 that’s $1300 already

    • You could've also got a $200 david jones giftcard and wait until you need to buy something

  • Can you buy a $300 gift voucher at one of the participating restaurants and still receive the credit?

    • Yes. You can.

  • Applied a couple of weeks ago, got approved today. What are my chances to get this deal instead of what i signed up for? did i just answer my own question?
    Has anyone experienced this?

  • Anybody bought a voucher online to a venue and received the cashback?

  • In NSW the restaurants are in Sydney, and so I ordered $306 Aged Beef, delivered to Newcastle from Vic's Meats. Big BBQ coming up!
The offer has dropped off my 'Available Offers' and so I assume that all is good.

  • Merry Christmas All!
Regarding the Amex Platinum dining credit, can anyone report success with purchasing an online gift voucher from any of the Melbourne venues?
    many thanks.
