Excellent price on this awesome tablet from Alldocube that's packed with features. You can checkout a review from Techtablets and Gaming/Emulation review from ETA Prime. The 128GB model usually sells for around this price, so having the 256GB model at this price is a good deal.

Featuring Android 11 (stock with Google Play), 10.4" 2000x1200 IPS 540 nits Display, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage (expandable via MicroSD), Dual SIM, 4G with B28, 6200mAh battery providing 8+ hours of usage, quad speakers, WiFi ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and GPS. It's powered by the UNISOC Tiger T618 Octa-Core (2x A75, 6x A55) CPU that's been overclocked to 2.0GHz instead of the usual 1.8GHz to provide better performance.

Now onto the downsides before people make a comment without reading the post. The tablet will likely stay on Android 11, however Alldocube are known to release firmware patches and security updates on occassion. There's also no Widevine L1 DRM so Netflix/Prime will be in SD quality.

Now for those wondering how it compares to other tablets in this budget Chinese price range. The direct competitor is the Teclast T40 Plus and Techtablets did a comparison. In short the iPlay 40 Pro has faster RAM/storage and clocked CPU resulting in better overall performance (especially in the ROM) as you can see in the video. The Teclast does have a brighter 680 nits display as well as a 3.5mm jack, but half the storage.

Also better than the Blackview Oscal Tab I shared for nearly half the price. iPlay 40 is pretty much better in everything, namely the CPU, RAM, Storage and Display.

    • I need to replace my in-laws Acer Iconia a500 (android 4; 1gbr etc). They will just do some browsing and YouTube and very light games

Unfortunately I missed out on the cheap blackview however for their use is there any advantage in going higher spec than the blackview? They want to spend as little as possible.

  • This seems like a decent performer. Good deal Clear!

  • Waiting for an interaction with fingerprint and faster charging.

I bought an older model for the parents mainly for YouTube Vanced and media, definitely bang for buck

Can we use this for home assistant display mounted on wall. Looking some thing decently priced for Fully kiosk dashboard.

    • I can't see why not. I'm pretty confident it would have the ability to wake on front camera presence but I can't be sure.

For HA, i'd probably recommend the Samsung A7 Tab. Yeh, its less powerful than this, and has drastically less storage, but considering you're probably going to use it for Wallpanel or Fully Kisok, that would be plenty (and you know it works, and you know it is supported).

    • Im using a ~2 year old Teclast P10 (10" screen, Android 7) tablet as a wall mounted HomeAssistant dashboard, but its slow..

Id like to get an 8" to 10" tablet with decent CPU to use as a Klipper touchscreen interface for my 3D printer - but the problem is fast tablets generally come with everything high spec and so are expensive.

For the purpose of a single webpage touchscreen interface you want a nice screen and fast CPU - however RAM / Storage / LTE connection are largely irrelevant.
Bit of a niche market that manufacturers dont cater for.

Since Klipper runs off a Raspberry Pi maybe I will be better off looking at a RPi touchscreen or external HDMI touch-screen..
That would also work for HomeAssistant - but only if the screen and RPi were located near each other.
