Your logic is irrefutable, and yet…

good but it's asus on a radeon, I wouldn't trust the double dating "big 3", since they all have a relationship with nvidia, while radeon is just some side girl that they date who they couldn't care less if they threw away. I've seen at least one of the big 3 reuse nvidia coolers on radeon cards every gen (not the same vendor even) for the last 3 gens, and no surprise, doesn't fit = high temps and bad cooling.

But you ain't gonna get a 6800xt on xfx/sapphire/powercolor/his/asrock at $1800 these days, so might as well jump if you want.

      Not so

      Very impressive according to HuB

    • ASRock only manufacture Radeon cards and still manage to suck, at least for their mid tier coolers.

      • Where did you hear / read that? Watch this entire RX 6900 XT PCB/boards comparison https://youtu.be/Azvn6H1vX28?t=633

        • I guess they've cleaned up their act. Their original Navi cards were a dumpster fire.

          • @Void: ASRock 5700XT’s thermals were fairly bad with the reference cooler.
You could get a good result by running it at 70% but that brings more noise.
Suffice to say I’ve since moved on to a RTX 3070

            • @[Deactivated]: I skipped the last gen RDNA 1 cards so wasn't sure how their first iteration of cards were.

Personal experience + research over last two months convinced me Asrock do build top of the line current gen Radeon cards as I used an Asrock Phantom D RX 6800 XT vs Sapphire Toxic RX 6900 XT (water cooled), the Asrock card was much stable undervolted at higher clock speeds (VRAM + GPU clk) than the Sapphire top line card.

I have since parted from that Asrock as have no purpose for two graphics cards but it was an amazing card because of power management + stability for an air cooled card.

    • Gigabyte definitely has a history of doing that during the gtx 9xx series/ r9 3xx era. At that time, they had poorer quality coolers on their AMD lineup (less heat pipes, less fins) even though it had the same branding compared to nvidia. They also didn't bring over their more premium branded coolers to AMD around that period.

I'm not sure how it is nowadays since people don't really care too much about the coolers, only whether or not they can get their hands on the graphics card lol

    wtf $100 off the 6900xt

    • Where? I heard about that but that seems to be the "old price" - cha Chung!

  • Probably going to be more next month lol

  • This is a good price atm for this card.

6900XT for 200 bucks more with two free games worth $100…probably a better deal if you ask me

  • Recently built a system With below parts: (OZBARGAINED )

    NZXT H210i
    Aorus X570 Pro Wifi
    Ryzen 5900x
    GSkill 32GB 3600Mhz
    NZXT Z53 AIO
    1.5 TB Samsung 970Pro SSD

Currently using a GTX 1050ti from my previous build.

Can't decide which one to go for RTX 3080 or RX 6800 ?

Can only use 2 and half slot GPU due to case limitations.

    • simply depends on what you play mate, which is the one thing you left out

    • I would go 3080 for the DLSS.

    • I have the same case… and actually the rest of the same setup more or less.
The 3080 is likely the only card that’ll fit… I had an XC3 on “pre-order” with PLE for 9 months before getting a refund.
The 6800 XT and 6900XT as far as I can tell are more like 2.8 width cards.
I was honestly excited before the launch of RDNA2, to see AMD kick it to Nvidia, but upon launch their cards have the thickest profile of them all.
Unfortunately ITX builds just got even tougher.

The 3070 fits in just fine, it was a zotac one I bought for $999 or something before, honestly it’s just too hard to get your hands on GPU without paying a ridiculous sum, add to the the complexity of making it fun in ITX.

That's a really bad decision on the nzxt case. You spent all that money on nice hardware and a case that's going to choke your video card. Do your hardware a favour and get a better case.

      • You can always take off the front panel when gaming

        • +1

No. it's the zero space underneath the card that's the problem, recirculates hot air. Worst case ever.

      • +1

Agreed, I built on this case few months ago, had few problems such as none of top end radeon cards fit this case as too thick + too long. Quite hard to fit AIOs in this case.

After months of fiddling with this case, got the 710i which fits my requirements. Fit two full size AIOs etc.

  • Cheers Op. Bought 5. Now, what does it do?

    • +3

Well first thing you need to do is grab a ten gallon tub of KY Jelly…

      • lmfao

  • I post this exact card not long ago from BPC tech for $1599, which is the launch price, some people still complained it was too expensive

  • +1

    Holding out for next gen

    • See you in 2023…..supply chain issue getting worth.

  • Lol these prices can piss right off. I'll stick to cloud gaming and portable.

Waiting for discount on release prices, see you all in 4 years!

  • It's amazing that this and the 6900 are still selling out. Feels like prices will not go back to normal ever, why would they if manufacturers know people will pay up to 2x msrp seemingly forever?

Are miners still buying these or just exasperated gamers?

    • This is around $200 above launch pricing. Not "tWo hUnDrEd pErCENt oVEr eMm eSS aRe PeE"

    • Graphics cards will be linked to crypto forever. Until a crash and prolonged downturn curbs demand.

    • Not sure why any miner would buy a 6800/6900XT TBH, its not a particularly strong card @ 64MH/s given the price-tag. I'd say likely demand is gamers and scalpers more than anything.

Wonder what will happen with graphic card prices once Covid is endemic and high vaccine uptake is commonplace (i.e. return to "normal")

  • Luckily I grabbed a RX6800 Fighter for around 1350 from ebay earlier. Runs very quiet and cool in both gaming and mining. Also it is not power hungry as the 6800xt and 6900 xt. Perfectly fit my RM650x.

  • This is saying its back in stock at the same price still

    • not anymore now $1899
