    Come on OzBargain!

  • 2 hours to go, over 650,000 'sold'. lol

  • Just snuck in with 1 min to go… and they offered 99 when I got them :D

    but now EXPIRED!!!

    • Scoopon had broken the Australian record for the number of vouchers 'sold' in a single deal.

      Read more: http://www.smh.com.au/small-business/smallbiz-marketing/will…

      • +1

Thats only because they were allowing each person to buy 99 coupons, I bet ya each person who purchased 99 of them will only end up using about 5.. Its a bust of a deal..

        • +1

Yes, that is true, it will be interesting to see the actual number of unique buyers

        • Plus there is no real expense or commitment from the buyer. So really, this is more of a discount voucher than a deal. They could have easily done this via Facebook or mail box.

      • I recon if everyone had to pay upfront for the voucher, they still would have had a fairly good number, but nothing as extravagent as this.

  • +3

Reminds me of how Maccas used to have $2 Big Macs (actually it was $4 for two).

    The good old days…

  • Would be interesting to see how many they would have sold if we had to pay for the vouchers upfront?

    • Probably only 15% of the total.

I "bought" my vouchers while i was on the phone to my brother (he told me about the deal), and i thought that i was actually paying up front, $40 for 20 (the maximum at the time). I was not aware of the expiry date at that time though, which is a big killer.
I'll be handing some out to friends, as i wont eat 20 in 2 months.

  • Obviously, Scoopon is getting their cut by adding to the subscriber list. HJ's getting theirs by the media attention. Couldn't buy that sort of advertising.

  • :( They ran out of coupons? I wasn't expecting that.

    Please mark as expired.

  • Hi Everyone. I've had a busy week and missed out on this great deal for my family.

Just wondering if any generous OzBargainers who purchased 99 vouchers had any vouchers they could spare?

Here's hoping for some cooking free days and cheap meals. Thanks so much.

    [email protected]

If this breaches any OzBargain rules sorry and mods feel free to delete.

    • Please, for your own sake, remove your email address from the public forum.

I am sure that once they become available, people will post copies on this thread. Subscribe to it and they should be up on the 20th of march.

      • I have to agree. If you're going to give out your email, do it over a private message, not in public.

      • +6

Mailinator is a free, disposable email service for everyone who wants to protect their identity in blogs, forum and social media.

      • Thanks for your advice. I did learn about Mailinator from OzBargain so it's OK.

    • +1

I got 20 coupons and I'm sure won't use that many. Will email some over to you when they become available:)

      • Thank you sooooo much!

      • Sorry please see my edited new email below [email protected]

    • I just found out the emails from Mailinator get deleted after a few hours.

So sorry if anyone sent me any vouchers and I haven't received them to the mailinator address.

If anyone has any to vouchers to spare, my email address is [email protected]

I don't mind putting this up on the forum. Thanks again

  • Lucky I used throwaway email addresses…holy shit the SPAMs from Scoopon have started en-masse already, at least three a day to each address!!! :o

    • Unsubscribe from newsletters. Usual group buying issue.
I've received none, as never subscribed to newsletters when set up account (apparently), only got emails of my purchases.
      So, hows the kitchen :-)

      • +2

I've received none, as never subscribed to newsletters when set up account

I never subscribed either, but they must have done it for me as a kindness…bless their souls! ;)

        So, hows the kitchen :-)

Not a hammer gets lifted til I have a discount burger in my hot little hands!

Two more sleeps til 'B-Day' when OzBargainers participate in a coordinated national assault on HJ's…we shall eat them on the beaches, we shall fight them at the counter & we shall fight them at the drive-thru, we shall never surrender our coupons! (Winston Churchill, 1940) :D

    • ever heard of filters?

you can create it easily with most big free internet-based email providers.

mine, filtered straight to junk for this kind of marketing materials.

      • +3

        ever heard of filters?

Um, what part of disposable email addresses did you not get??? Why the hell would I bother setting up filtering when I can just dump the whole address when the deal is done??? Are you worried about landfill??? :p

Vouchers are out. They have names printed on them, unique barcodes, and they take up an annoyingly huge amount of space :/.

Would they accept it if I print two per page?

    • I assume customer service staff have been briefed about the offer, maybe just the bar codes would do?

    • but u can only buy 1 per person per day.
you can print 2 to save paper, but not sure if they'll sell you 2
(unless you go to different store)

      • ..or one for breakfast then another in the evening I don't think they'll notice
        (unless they're on double shift)

    • +2

With so many vouchers, Im thinking about maybe reducing the size to a business card and printing 20 on one A4 paper and then cutting them all up. Maybe I'll bring in a magnifying glass too incase they dont have one.

  • Man….with the plastic coke cups they are currently using, you can recycle and basically have a complete meal for $2.

Anyone think the vouchers can be used more than once?

  • +1

Can some one upload one voucher please? :D

  • +9

Maccas are doing $1 drinks, so you can grab one of them first and take it to HJs with this voucher for a $3 all up meal!

    • how much are drinks at HJ

    • which drink?

    • True. But HJ soft drinks can be refilled for free. Macca's can't.

  • +5

Got my $2 scoopon today and used it tonight, looks like you can just keep printing the same coopon and use it for unlimited times. They didn't scan my code or anything, just pounch a special button that they have setup on their register and that's it.

    • Is that mean we can purchase 2 Whopper in the same store in a day ?
Because in the voucher only mention we can do that once a day.

  • Does anyone know if they'd accept a voucher presented on a smartphone?

    • You will never get a definitive answer, as each stores & staff is different and since there is no official documentation stating you can present it on your smartphone it's unlikly that they will accept.

    • +2

I'll swap a printout of your voucher for your smartphone. :)

Just got the email, But site has crashed.
    Scoppon email:
    Mouth-watering value!
Hi there, Hope your tummy is rumbling! Because today is the first day that your Hungry Jack’s Scoopon can be used! Yes indeed, there’s a juicy Whopper and small fries with your name on it.
All you need to do is go to your Scoopon account, download and print your Scoopon. Present it in a participating store along with $2 and they’ll feed you – it’s that simple!
To clear up any confusion, we want to confirm that we didn’t charge you anything when you ‘bought’ your Scoopon. $2 has to be paid in-store at Hungry Jack’s to complete the purchase.
You can check The Fine Print on your Scoopon printout for all the conditions of use. It’s all listed on there, but if you have any questions or concerns, please visit our Help Centre at the following address: https://helpcentre.scoopon.com.au/
One more thing – if you’re not sure how to access your Scoopon printout, just follow these steps:
    1. Go to www.scoopon.com.au and login to your account
    2. Hover over the ‘My Stuff’ tab to display a drop-down menu
    3. Select ‘My Scoopons’ or ‘My Gifts’ from this drop-down menu
    4. Your Scoopon purchases will now be displayed
    5. To view and/or print your Scoopon, click on ‘print’
    Enjoy your Whopper and fries!

    • +2

It looks like they OzBargained themselves.

Mmmmm: I can fit 2 delicious HJ burgers inside my stomach and I'm an underweight person..nom nom nom. I will bet a fat man could do 4 in one transaction. :O

-'how many bar codes/'card printouts you got, sir…that'll be 8dollars'

  • Yeah I'm at work and I can't get onto their website. I finish at 9 and I want a nice juicy whooper on my way home.

    • Yep you can login but you can't view any scoopons you have bought.

      • +1

I can't even get onto the homepage :(

        foreverhungry.jpg

    • +2

So…how is the fact that you didn't check the participating stores before getting FREE vouchers a reason to neg the deal?

    • Give it a try.
I successfully redeemed my voucher at the Bankstown one and they were on the "May or May not list" as well.

  • Got my scoopons. The ones I bought on one account had the same bar code but another lot I bought on a different account had a different bar code. I doubt they will bother to scan them anyway though.

  • +1

    Got all my 99 vouchers.

  • Do we have to print the whole page for each voucher?

    • i dont know… i cut just the top part and put 4 vouchers in a page.

  • Has any one been able to log into scoopon? I have never been able to get it - it gives me a Gateway Timeout every time. I tried it yesterday, and now, and still no luck.

    • +1

fine for me… just logged in and downloaded the vouchers no probs at all.

    • yea, i couldnt got on before lunch time either.. but i can now.. just try again..

  • Went to Auburn NSW yesterday. They didn't accept my coupon. 8(

  • Has anyone tried using the vouchers at Circular Quay?

    • +2

Yes, I used my first one there today.

I thought I'd just hand it over and they'd have processed 1000s already and just process it really quick, but the guy I handed it to had never seen one, read the whole page, punched up a Grilled Whopper and Fries, hit the discount button, and it comes up with $2.25 owing. Retries it 3 times before asking someone else. They umm and ah and tell him to override the discount amount before the Manager overhears and looks over and tells me "no substitutes, you cannot substitute". I have no idea what she is talking about, and we all eventually work out the guy was putting in a Flame Grilled CHICKEN whopper instead of an ordinary Beef Whopper.

So it seems they just ring up a Burger and Fries and hit the "Scoopon discount" button which gives a flat $4.95 discount from the expected $6.95 total, but a chicken whopper is 25c dearer.

If I realised I'd have happily given him $2.25 as I much prefer the Flame Grilled Chicked any day. In fact, I'd be glad if they would ring up a meal deal and then take the flat discount off, as a drink in a deal cost is much cheaper than a stand-alone drink, but that's obviously where they expect to make their money…

Short answer - yes, accepted at Circular Quay. If you can find them.
Note 1: The location as marked on their website is wrong - Hungry Jacks is actually across the road on the other side underneath the Cahill Expressway.
Note 2: They do not appear in any Google Maps search - searching for "Hungry Jacks Circular Quay" on your Google Maps or just Google shows only the Wynyard Station one, not the Circular Quay one at all.

  • Remember to check this list if the store you want to use it at is listed http://sc.pn/hS

    • They don't make it easy by having it in State based alphabetical order do they!

  • anyone tried at berwick and fountain gate?

  • Has anyone tried only handing in the top half of the voucher?

    • +1

Yep, I did successfully. They didn't really care at all.

  • Just letting everyone know that I was able to use the coupon at Bankstown. (They were on the 'May or May not accept' list)
He tried to upsell me a drink…haha.. that would have been a clever way to recoup the money. A small drink cost them 5cents and they sell it for $2.

    • Do they scan it?

      • +2

Not when I went today but it's possible that they pile them up and then scan them at the end really fast to save time and render the coupon as used.

        • Which essentially means you can use the coupon over and over again

  • can I get 12 of these?

I got 20 but will Hungry Jacks let me use 12 at one time?

    • …you want 12 Whoppers at once? Anyway no, one per customer.

      • +2

Instead of cooking for the family I thought I'd get 12 burgers to feed everyone.

  • Same list of stores that accepted the last $2 whooper promotion. For those that go to Knox, in Melbourne, the foodcourt doesn't accept the voucher. The one in Knox Ozone will accept the voucher.

  • +1

No problem at Forest Hill, they grant me a free coffee as well ( I appear to be a senior ).

    • free coffee for seniors you say… hrmmm

  • +6

I presented a coupon and the girl handed it back to me without scanning it.. she explained that theres a universal code for this deal.. so i did the honourable thing and ordered a second

    • This isn't a coupon, it is a receipt from Scoopon. Amazed that HJ accepted it.

      • +4

Sadly, it doesn't surprise me…HJ's staff are not rocket surgeons! :p

  • I am also wondering if we can keep reusing the coupons we have or if i should have bought more :(

  • +3

If any one missed out and wants some coupons just PM me your email and i will send you some .I went mad to see how many they would give me so have 100s - ok 1000s

    • i would like some, didnt buy many as i thought we had to prepay scoopong, sent you a pm

    • Hi buddy, any chance I am able to get some coupon off you?
Not going to give you a sob story of how i want to feed my 7 kids and wife for a month (LOL) i just wanted some cheap meals while im on nightshifts

Cheers mate and appreciate it a lot!

      rompn8 @ gmail . com

    • Could you please send some my way? I've PM'd you. [email protected]
      Thanks

  • I wouldn't worry too much about a voucher.

I went to a HJ drive through yesterday, and ordered two.
I only had a PDF (well, 2) on my Phone, but I was wondering if she would whinge about it, scan it, or not bother…
Well, she asked me for the money and didn't even worry about the voucher.

Note: This store is normally a PITA when it comes to vouchers.

    • +2

Thats awful!!!! Not only because the guy is making money of something that was given free but worse this might stop companies from providing these kinds of deals, scoopon might think twice about offering it for free if someone else will just sell it off. He should be reported if it is possible?

    • This guy's also selling a Cellarmasters giftcard (with $120 min spend) that you can sometimes find in junkmail! lol!!!

    • +2

I said these would be on ebay…..

  • Can anyone advise if HJ will accept multiple vouchers i.e. 2 or 3 at the same time?

    • +1

They accepted 2 from me yesterday, no questions asked.

    • +2

It says no on the voucher, depends on the server I guess.

      • -8

I am not blind, I asked for experiences not opinions thanks

        • +3

But others experiences will differ from yours anyway - with the location, the staff member serving, the mood they are in, if the manager is watching, if they have been told to do things different since the poster left the store, & importantly if they like/relate to you… so only answer is "depends on the server I guess" when you buy. (Most would not care or read the T&C.)

Unfortunately, judging by your displayed people skills, I would guess the answer will be 'no'. Would you do a favour for someone who gave your answer? Its often how you interact that determines what you get.
But, that was just another opinion, based on years of staff training.

  • I went in to use one of the vouchers today, but looked up on the board and bought the Jr whopper deal instead (burger, fries and frozen coke, looooove frozen coke!), so unfortunately they got more money out of me this time :)

    • They must love you. Offered to upgrade my order last night - should have asked the price. Didn't know that was an option on a voucher.
