Please scold me? Man, save it for the bedroom.

Maybe that's what the Dremel's for.

Perfect for sanding off those foot calluses.

      Homemade truffles, yum.

        🤢🤮

Hah! My mrs uses mine for her feet all the time! It was my suggestion though because I didn’t want to pay for a specific foot one.

This comment section is a little concerning so far 😂

For anyone wondering Camel3 shows usual price is about $199, and the lowest $149 was in June 2020. Looks like it is rare to drop to this price. I like these additional integration on OzB. Makes it easy to spend more money.

  • Hrrm, Is this worth upgrading from my aldi workzone rotary tool?
My main issue with the aldi tool is that the cable is so long and stiff that trying to get it back into the case is a total pain in the arse.

  • Any opinions on this vs waiting for a deal on the cordless?

    • Wondering this too — the 8220 is $5 more atm, and I've seen some tutorials to rig it to be wired when needed. Choices…

I have this model for about 8 years, and it just works as new when I need it, not worrying about dying batteries. Depending on your use you might be better off with cordless, but if you use it once a month then corded is better to my opinion.

i have limited space (and no proper work area) in the house so bought the cordless during Masters' fire sales in 2016. worth it for me just being able to work on something wherever that something is.

This dremel aged well, picked up mine years ago from masters when they did dremel 4000 + drill press attachment for $150

Side note: If you're using this with 3D printing, look up friction welding.

    • Thanks, will do.

    • That's heaps good… Never thought about trying to join pieces like that

Tempting.. I’ve got an ozito that’s done well so far, but nothing like the real deal

  • Not sure if this is out of stock yet. I just went to "See All Buying Options" and it was still listed at $164.

I just ordered one. (My wallet is getting light this week…..)

  • I was going to wait for the supercheap $50 one. Just a home use DIY guy - is this really worth 3 times as much.
    Plus supercheap is cordless :D

It's not 3 times better therefore not worth 3 times as much. Is a Mercedes worth 3x more than a Ford? That said, I've bought one hahahaha…but I drive a Ford :(

      • Lol. Don’t worry German parts and reliability is worse anyway

Still can’t decide… I mainly want to use it to customise my bike and trim things around the house. Plus I have 3d printer to trim. Would be so much easier than reprinting the whole thing

        • +3

The Supercheap one will do the job. It's currently $75 which is much better value than the Dremel - the cordless-ness is a big bonus too. Sometimes the thought of plugging in a tool is enough to make me put off a DIY task. That's the level of my laziness.

          • +2

@damfrog: completely agree. thats whats stopping me from jumping on the dremel right now. I just know I wont be bothered looking for outlets and getting the extension cord out when I need to work on the car/bike

I have an old Dremel 395 that's at least 17 years old and still going strong when needed. I had a voucher a few years ago and picked up a 8220 cordless and that works just as well, find it more convenient being cordless, bit more precise has the quick release chuck and built in spanner in the collar. The battery holds a charge in between uses which I don't find as reliable with other cheaper cordless tools I have.

Is it worth the extra money.. probably not as much these days, I use it a fair bit so worth the investment for me given the very long use I got from the previous model and if I recall it was on special at Bunnings at the time and what sucked me in.

    • the quality of dremels and their attachments makes it worthwhile to me. probably not "worth" 3x as much but for the peace of mind that it isn't going to break on that one occasion you really need it.

  • It was $149 a few months ago

    • Funny how this post has more upvotes when it’s more expensive!
