    can't go wrong for $10

    • True, that's why we all ordered, although not sure when to use these.lol

  • +1

Can never have enough 10mm sockets.

  • +1

tool shop may sell for $5 for each piece when you need one in urgent. $10 for 10 will give me the excuse to stock up…

    • Plus socket rail.

  • Can you use these for normal drill?

    • yes but sounds like you will need one of these https://www.bunnings.com.au/craftright-3-piece-socket-adapto…

      • Bought it a week ago when I got the ozito drill.

      • +9

Probably shouldn't suggest to buy non-impact adapters for an impact socket. The adapter will explode if you actually use them with an impact driver.

https://www.bunnings.com.au/irwin-impact-pro-performance-3-p… for a few dollars more is probably better (though reviews seem like they snap too) so maybe https://www.bunnings.com.au/kango-3-piece-impact-mxm-socket-… might be a more reliable option…

        • I have the brushless hammer drill.

          • +4

@htc: hammer and impact are different. hammer is not what you need for these sockets and could damage them. Hammer drills hammer forward and are designed to chip away at masonry while drilling. Impact drivers or impact wrenches hammer with the rotation of the machine, which gives the rotation more power, but does not send any energy forwards. These sockets and the adapters mentioned above are for use with an impact wrench (for sockets directly) or driver (for adapters and other 1/4" hex bits).

            • @dunc0: Will it work if I turn the drill to normal drill setting?

              • @htc: it will work, but it will almost certainly struggle removing larger or tighter bolts, and won't have that much tightening torque (it might be fine for extremely light applications, but expect to be breaking bolts loose, or finishing the tightness by hand with a ratchet or breaker bar). You could also use normal sockets this way. there is no need for impact sockets/connections if you are just using a normal drill. You'll need an adapter to go from a drill fitting to a square 1/2 drive to fit the sockets.

        • +3

Nearly learnt this the hard way with a hex bit adapter that wasn't impact rated, it split creating a sharp edge that nearly skinned my finger.

I was lucky I let go of the adapter at just the right time and no longer steady a drill with fingers at the pointy end.

        • +1

          agree
but first idea came up is to use proper 1/2" drive instead 6mm hex with the adapter.

          • @sanrs: I think I was tightening a screw with a hex head or something similar, nothing arduous, it really didn't take much to split the non-impact rated adapter.

These were Bosch bits in a kit, which I now know are notorious for being weak.

        • I think there seems to be a bit of confusion between a drill, an impact driver and a impact wrench.

          Just to generalise….

A drill is low torque but high speed. You can use those craftright adapters just to do up something quickly but it won't be that tight.

An impact driver and impact wrench can sometimes be similar torque but it's much higher than a drill and lower speed. You would want a impact adapter for impact driver application. Impact wrenches normally have a square head.

With regards to the original comment on this thread, like what brownsound said, you'd need an adapter but impact sockets would not be that advantageous (except this price) in terms of usability.

        • Or save a few dollars if you only need the half inch - Kango 1/2" MXM Socket Adaptor

    • No, a drill doesn't have enough torque to tighten a socket. You need an Impact Driver.

    No brainer
Spent almost the same amount for a 22mm last week, glad they have the 10mm too

If you are going for this deal, consider this set from eBay:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/10pcs-1-2-Electric-Impact-Wrench…

Has a Chuck adapter and impact driver hex adaptor too.

    • You will need to have an impact wrench for this?

  • Thanks op, ordered 1

  • +1

Thanks, hard to pass by at the price

  • What is it used for?

    • +5

If you need to ask, you don't need to buy it.

(It's used to turn nuts/bolts with lots of force)

      • +1

Thanks… is it for automotive use or can be used around the house? I don't think I need it, just curious to know.

        • +4

Massive overkill for most household DIY tasks.

More likely to be used on a car, or bolting a bridge together.

          • +5

@abb: Someone was trying to sell me a bridge the other day, I could use these to take it apart.

    • +4

21mm 22mm and 24mm useful for removing wheels of tyres and putting on spares

  • Been happy with the quality of all HRD tool products I have purchased from TT.

    Bought a set.

  • Yeh I’ll give it a go. I think I might need it but not sure lol

  • Auburn total tool is the nearest store I go to… seems like these guys are always out of stock of everything. Anyone else notice that?

  • Thanks OP. Don't really need them but at that price can't go wrong.

  • +1

Got one. Now to buy a driver impact tool..

  • +2

Just a bit of a CSA, these aren't really worth $34.95 with only a 1 year warranty, auto shops all have 5 to lifetime warranty for a bit more, or less when on sale

    • +3

For a home DIY'er at $10 probably okay though right. I expect that 1 year warranty is a warning to tradies.

      • +2

absolutely, or even for people who have a 12 point set but don't have a 5 point one, use these with your existing ratchet/extention bar

  • +1

for actual packaging, see their facebookpost (https://www.facebook.com/totaltools/videos/price-crash-1-day…).

Seems like a store-branded, with no case, only socket rail

    • +1

Socket rails are pretty handy if you're just shoving them in your tool box. The plastic cases take up too much space in some situations.

  • +1

This is a good deal, 1/2 inch across, not half 3/8 and half 1/2.

Goes well with the Ozito deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/655392

  • got one just for the 10mm basically. Cheap enough to throw in the tool trolley for when needed. Thanks OP

  • +1

I like how they are not 12 point, great for DIY at $10. Only $6.80 postage for me, which I'm happy with to save the piss-farting around with click and collect.

    • +1

I think impact sockets are all 6 points, for maximum surface contacts.

      • Oh, I meant the existing sockets I have are all 12point, so nice to have some with better surface area rather than just 'grabbing' at the points.

I do wonder why 12 point is cheap, I would have thought it's easier to manufacture 6 point.

  • -1

oh yea, that be some quality shit for $10.00…

  • Damn, put in a click and collect but the store rang to say one guy cleared out all their stock.

    • Limit 5 per customer so they only had 5 on hand then..

      • Yep - took all 5 of them - country store, probably not as well stocked as a city one.

  • Ordered…
Now the usual question - should I get a wrench or driver for general home use and minimal car work?

  • +1

    Insider rewards - paid $0.

    Thank you!

    • +1

Perfect for wrenching that 2 stroker

      • Wise man.

        • YZ250? or are you some rich KTM dude 😀

          • @Muzeeb: This is a bit awkward. I've got YZ450 and KTM250.

            • @2stroksmokr: Sweet rides rich dude 😀 450F too much power for me 🙁

              • +1

@Muzeeb: jumping on bike post wr450f for me :)

  • Got charged $4.95 shipping! Yay!
And just purchased an impact wrench so perfect timing! 2 x Yay!

  • +1

Chrome vanadium steel is suitable for ratchets, not ideal for an impact socket. For $10 though, just get a few sets and go through them over the years, no biggie and will get the job done in the meantime. Throwaway socket sets.

    • +1

Probably makes no difference for 19mm and smaller sockets.

      • +1

it's a bit sketchy if you're trying to loosen stuck/strongly torqued bolts. the 12 point vanadium ones can strip the heads more easily…. then you're in for a fun afternoon.

  • Thanks! Got a TT near me.
I have 3/8 sockets and tools, but 1/2 breaker bars, and will eventually get a 1/2 impact wrench, so these are perfect.
Now I can use 1/2 sockets on my breaker bars without adaptors.

  • Great deal, ordered one

  • looks like it is out of stock now
some people may have taken the 'max 5 per customer' too seriously

    • +1

I think it's store by store - still available for me

      • I was happy to pay for delivery, shows available for delivery and then shows out of stock regardless of store. Wierd.

    • Try a different store.

      Makes good Christmas present.

      • +2

Great idea. Got 2 for the MIL.

  • Website allowed me to order one for click and collect, got to store 15 mins later, store told me sold out and refunded. Crap systems.

  • Just ordered & picked up one @ Warners Bay 2282.

  • They don’t seem to be magnetic… unfortunately.

Once you use magnetic socket drivers, you can go back.

    • But they are black.

Once you use magnetic socket drivers, you can go back.

So they are shit? Why do you want to go back?

      • +1

Sound like typo, probably mean you can't go back.

  • Webpage gone now

  • Just wanna say, thankyou so much for this deal

I just went in about 20 minutes ago to go collect my click & collect order from the ashfield store

Spoke to the salesperson he said they & all other stores were all sold out within the first 2 hours.

Should also say, the other 4 people in line there today whilst i was there were there to pickup the exact same thing.

    Thankyou @owgasm, good deal!

    • +1

Haha you must have gotten there not long before I did. They'd sold out before I was able to checkout online, I was there to pickup something else and 3 people queued in front of me to pickup their sockets.

  • Sockets are made in Taiwan, usually indication of higher quality.

  • Gone, all i see is a page with a broken hammer

  • +1

Bought 2 at TT Joondalup WA, was a heap of 10 buck bargains, and kitchen table sized bench with over 100 sets of these sockets. Thought might be different sizes but nope all identical size.

  • +1

I work hard for 1 day and I miss this deal.
Lesson learnt, don't work hard again.

  • +1

This deal was a no brainer. Unfortunately they sold out incredibly quickly. Mine disappeared from my cart by checkout time as they sold out - as they say, you snooze you lose.

Had to drop by my local TT outlet on Friday anyway, to pickup something else (Ashfield). Walked in the door, the guy said "You're here for the sockets aren't you?" "Nah mate, missed out, you sold out just before I checked out". He then told me they sold thousands of them in the space of a couple of hours.

As I was driving home, the guy behind the counter called me to tell me that he had 4 left for which the guy who reserved them had changed his mind but I had to pick it up today, so I raced back in and picked a set up just before closing time. It was worth having the membership because it made it easy for the guy behind the counter to call me. (Andrew I think his name is). Awesome service and most appreciated.

I was using them just this weekend for tearing down/rebuilding a PWC engine. They work really well with both a traditional 1/2" torque wrench and on my DeWalt impact driver for rapid removal/fastening. For $10 you couldn't go wrong.

  • +1

Ordered then waited over the weekend, got cancelled today. How can you run business this way total tools?

  • Did anyone else actually get their item?
ordered properly and checked out. Took my money and then got an email saying no stock in ashfield and they dont have stock anywhere else and cancelled
    terrible

    • same, you'd think their systems would be better than this, pretty amateur.
