For those using in ear monitors or more sensitive earbuds, apple dongle is better than this because it had a lower voice floor. Even in Amazon reviews people reported static noises.

  Apple usb-c dongle is best value ever, but…, it’s not compatible with Windows 7, and, somewhat with Windows 10. Try for yourself - don’t connect headphone or headset, reboot, observe Device Manager crazy refreshing.

    The USB C dongle is not compatible with Windows 7, because the window7 system does not match the USB C application program.
    When the USB C dongle was born, it was already Windonw10, you can try to update your laptop system.
