Lol at over $800 it will never be a ozb favourite coffee machine.

If it was around $300 then it may have a small chance at the title.

OzBargain's favourite manual machine, the Breville Dual Boiler is $1000 on sale and that's amazing value! $800-ish for a fully automatic machine isn't terrible value

    • Unless it's spectacular at what it does, it's entirely possible.

  • I have quite number of Philips appliances at home over the years, but I'm not sure I'm going to purchase their coffee machine ๐Ÿ˜

  • Wait until BFS next month you might see the price dropped to $600 or less + 15% Shopback/Cashrewards rebate.

  • So this is going up against bes920 price wise?

In what universe does coffee actually look like that? That is the most unappetizing looking coffee I've ever seen. If you buy this, sucks to be you.

    • Yeah, I think the picture of the coffee should tell you everything you need to know about the machine. The Brevilles in this price range, or even lower are much better value. While they're not fully automatic, it really isn't that involved - especially with some of the newer and more affordable machines like the Bambino.

    • latte macchiato, not very popular in Australia (cannot recall many cafes here even selling it)
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnGTNh3aDLQ

consumer products like to feature it as it shows distinct (3) layering effect

      • +3

absolutely not a macchiato in any sense of the word.

i don't mind this guy's reviews, but this screams dodgy American interpretation of the crap you can buy in the states.

        • ps not my cup of tea (or coffee in this case) just answering the question on what type of coffee it is

yes i agree the naming is terrible seems it just got hijacked

he obviously has to caters for his market (us)
he was one of the first ones that popped up when you type in latte macchiato and explains the difference between the two types

        • -2

This is exactly what a latte macchiato looks like in most of central and western Europe, and it's the main image most manufacturers use to push coffee machines eg Jura, Nespresso.

Not for you? That's fine. Nobody's making you drink it, and the fact that the machine can make one tells you nothing about its quality whatsoever.

Sure, marketers also use shaving cream in photoshoots instead of ice-cream but you don't see people eating shaving cream sundaes. This is a terrible way to texture milk and is why it's not popular. It's like a worse version of a cappuccino / latte / piccolo / babyccino

"And then I pushed my glasses up my nose and snorted."

    • French brand, have you been to France and tasted their coffee? ๐Ÿ˜€

      • What does that even mean?
Coffee comes from all over the world, and coffee machines are available everywhere

Eg Ethiopian coffee + Italian coffee machine is a good combo, you can get that in France and Australia btw

        • I am talking about the coffee making skill. It is difficult to get a good coffee in France.
A lot of hotels have even converted to Nespresso as they donโ€™t have the barista skills.

          Source: I am French

          • @Platinumtelecom: Yeah, I was honestly shocked at how bad the coffee was in Paris, given its reputation for cafe culture. Good cafes certainly exist - but they were very hard to come by.

  • This might be a bargain when it goes on sale

  • I've noticed you have to use aquaclean filter that needs to be changed every three months. Looks like Amazon sells them for $36 for 2 so you'd have to pay $72 each year for maintenance.

Might consider getting this if it goes considerably down in price.

Till then, I'll continue using my Ozbargained $149 Saeco Caffitaly Bravista Latte + HD8603 from 2016 and my $5 phin filter lol

  • Nice try but Breville is King

I think it is a great buy .. damn these things have come a long way :-D . It will never match a semi auto machine and a decent grinder but if you want to press a button and get better than pod coffee then this is grand IMHO. Dollar cups in seven eleven are not so popular because they taste great, they are popular because they are easy and cheap and taste better than pods. If you reckon your pod machine is good, I reckon get one of these..or at least keep an eye on the prices.

  • I have one of their seaco machine works fine.

But the real highlight for me is their support which is truly amazing. Helpful and no bullshit.

    Would recommend them.

  • Pretty sure saeco = Phillips

  • Wait for the pop-up, get an extra $30 off coupon in your email.
