Great price for one of the few remaining affordable DRAM-equipped drives. These are basically EOL and the replacement is worse, so if you want one, get it.

    • +2

No component swapping happening with this model?

      • +5

It's discontinued and no longer being manufactured. You're essentially getting stock stores and suppliers still have lying around.

  • +3

I grabbed one earlier on the weekend. Be aware of shipping time tho as it's coming from the UK. If you need one ASAP this is not the one for you. But if you can wait around 12 days then this is perfect!

      still better than auspost

      • +1

I got a SN550 from Amazon UK, it came through Auspost Global

      • +4

I've gotten things from the Amazon US before Auspost parcels.

      • Hahahaha so true

    • the eta is 22/10 apparently, not sure how accurate this is

      • Makes sense. That's my ETA as well and it got shipped already the day after purchase

nice, considering buying just because they are hard to get cheap now.

    good SSD, good price

Wow just bought this earlier, didn't click that it was Ozbargain post worthy. Got motivated to look for a value SSD after missing out on the recent Samsung EVO deals.
Oct 22nd expected delivery for me.

  • Bought one but got cancelled, anyone else get this?

  • finally, been a while since this great ssd had a sale.

  • +1

Thanks OP. 23/10 expected for me.

Finally moving up from 500gb again after storing all my HDDs on a shelf because I can't cable manage to save myself and needed the room šŸ˜‚

Side note: I have a Kingston SSD (128gb) bought ~10 years ago from my first pc and it still goes strong. Read speeds are almost on par with my 870 Evo (write, not so much) and no SMART etc signs of degradation despite being my main drive up until a year ago. Not a bad investment.

  • I got this drive on a previous sale. Upgraded from a sata ssd and now I press the power button and the login screen appears a second after. It's a thing of beauty.

  • Best 2t nvme for game storage ?

    • The Crucial P5 for $300 is pretty darn good.

  • Just bought the blade 17 from the earlier deal. Was gonna buy a 970 evo for the spare slot, but how does this compare?

  • Is Samsung 980 or this one? $10 more can get Samsung 980 at ebay from FutuOnline (shoppingExpress).

    • This one for the DRAM.

    • +3

      Here's a comparison. TL;DR:

      • Random read: Samsung 6% better
      • Random write: Kingston 2% better
      • Sequential read: Samsung 41% better
      • Sequential write: Samsung 37% better
      • Overall performance: Samsung 8% better

Some other things; A2000 has DRAM, SLC cache sizes are similar and Samsung does better on thermals. You won't go wrong with either option.

      • I got the Samsung 980 about a month ago and I have been very happy with the performance. Technically it's faster than the Kingston most of the time.

It didn't come with the screw in the packet, so I had to go searching for one small enough to install it.

        • Screw usually comes with the motherboard, there doesn't seem to be a standard screw unfortunately

  • Why shop from the UK when we can get the same thing locally

  • Bought the 980 pro but having second thoughts , would this be comparable?

    • +1

Different class of SSD, but if you're using it to load your steam library there's not much in it between SATA SSD, NVME gen 3 or gen 4. If you're using the pro for scrubbing through large media files and productivity or if you think direct storage will make a big difference to a future gaming experience then sure keep the 980 pro.

  • How does this compare to the Timetec ones?

  • Oh no, it's already gone! Any other suggestions for a good SSD for a laptop?

      • Nevermind, I had it in the shopping cart on Amazon and the price is still 130$, I've just bought it (probably one of the last remaining!)

Weird though, if I click on the "Go to Deal" link it gives me the one for 152$

        • Yeah, it would automatically show whichever is currently in stock.

      • Product is EOL so they won't be able to fill more stock

  • cant seem to see it for that price, maybe OOS? can't see backorder either

  • anyone have a recomendation for 2TB with dram?

  • Got this not long ago, the Acronis Clone Disk did not work for cloning my current 500GB NVME, after several attempts, differing options; then loaded the Acronis True Image - the Clone option in there worked first time, if anyone else has the same issue with Clone Disk, go straight to True Image :)
Software provided via redemption with the drive.
Thanks to all those who provide/d drive comparison info in previous/this deal/s.

  • mine arrived today sooner than expected via Australia Post Global from UK. I paid 12$ extra prirotiy for delivery by 23rd. But got here sooner 19th shipped on 13th. This is faster than local deliveries. thx OP.

    • Mine got here today, but was 10 minutes away at a depot for 3 days. Still good though.

Bad thing is, it's bloody bent. It was shipped in an envelope, as was yours no doubt, but something has hit it and the end where the screw goes is warped upwards…ffs. Do I return or hope it works? Eh

For reference (bad phone camera quality).

      • Yikes. I'd probably return… there may be some cracking in the solder because of that. Even if it works initially the expansion and contraction from heat in the case could bring out a problem in the future.

My tracking last update was leaving UK on 13th October…

      • Agree with 808State - not worth the risk. Might work initially then fail catastrophically a day/week/month later.

Mine shipped 13th as well - carrier picked up package on the 13th and nothing since. Still slated for delivery on the 24th though.
