Schweet! Postage to Aus was always major killer for me for TG

  • +6

"the shipping discount will happen automagically.." That's nice.

  • +2

Nice, they have cool stuff, but usually shipping is the killer…

  • Same as you guys, cool stuff I've always wanted but killer shipping. This should be good!

  • Bummer, I only need one VI Mug, but they're $9.95 a pop. Anyone wanna do a powerbuy for the sunshine coast area?

    • -1

really? how is this going to help you?

      • +1

        40 dollar for free shipping…..

        • no, i think he meant how is a VI mug going to help you when it is in the dishwasher or something! HOW WILL YOU EVER SAVE THAT FILE AND QUIT THEN!?!?!?!

        • no i mean how would a VI Mug really improve your life

    • Sitting in my UNIX class, I'd consider it….
      But I'm in Brisbane.

    • +1

Real VI users don't need the command cheat sheets on their mug :)

Everyone else just need to remember

      :q!
      emacs

      :)

      • I saw a nice geek quip: How do you create a pseudo random number generator? Put a first year CS student in front of VI and ask them to save and exit.

    • haha thats awesome! i want one!!
      :wq!

  • +1

Ok got some stuff, now conditions.
    Free shipping is:
    International Economy Shipping
For orders to Canada and Australia (more countries coming soon!) in addition to express shipping via DHL and UPS, we offer Economy Shipping via local postal agencies. International Economy Shipping is available for smaller, lighter orders — less than approximately 4 pounds and totaling less than $100. Orders shipped using Economy Shipping may take up to 1-3 weeks for delivery and tracking is not available. Please note that orders shipped via Economy shipping cannot be rerouted after shipment.

I put in my order for:
      x1 Laboratory Beaker Mug
      x2 Tetris mug
      x1 T-shirt

I did not get the free shipping… the shipping came to ~$50.
Surely, all those items do not add up to 4 pounds??

      • yeha it must have… 4 pounds really isn't much…

      • 4 pounds = 1.81436948 kilograms

  • I remember when Amazon.ca changed their economy shopping to "sea freight"….
Things took 3 months to arrive.

    Never again.

  • Think I'll order that 1up shirt + other stuff I've been wanting to get for a while :)

edit: "Size L out of stock" Dammit!

  • Shame on the 5 pounds (~2.2KG) limit :(

But great offering :) Time to spend some moneys!

    • -3

I went on the Think Geek chat and they said it was a 4 pound limit…who is right?

  • I ordered a bit of stuff that I had in my cart this morning.
it charged my PayPal But think geek says the order didn't go through. :s

I have faith that they'll fix it though.

  • Also I really REALLY want the Messenger Bag of Holding, but it doesn't qualify for economy shipping, which would make it $50 + ~$50 shipping.
    I want it ;_;

    • well… at least I don't have to decide whether or not to get it now.

      • It sucks, I'm gonna jump on chat and ask them why it's so much.

        • I just bought the Bag of Holding (Backpack) edition and was eligible for free shipping. I tried to order the normal messenger back and it wasn't eligible. You can still get your Bag of Holding for cheap! $60 for backpack edition (which can become a messenger bag too!) rather than $100 for normal edition ;)

        • WOAH! THanks man!

        • Glad I could help :) I've wanted this bag for months!

        • Except it's $70 not $60 for the backpack. Still, if it can do both, its better.

        • Oh yeah I'm an idiot, only saw the first figure and thought it was $60 not $69.99. Was too quick to purchase! I was 'this close' to spending the $110 to buy it and get it here. I'll save $40 and wait a bit longer :) sorry for making you think it was $60 :P

        • WEll, thats ok. I'm on chat now asking if they can send the Messenger one via economy, since I don't think I'd ever use the backpack version.

To save $10 would be nice as I've already spent $45 on this site today :S

          EDIT: Ordered the backpack one.

        • This is worse than playing Jenga - I've added the Backpack 3 times now… and the free shipping only showed up the first time… then an LED umbrella tipped me over the limit, so I built the list again, and only DHL or UPS are available now… I think they have 'fixed' the weight on the Backpack of Holding so that it no longer fits into the 2.2kg

Waah! My daughter would have loved this

        • Don't worry, it'll work.

  • Purchased. A t-shirt, mug, magnets, and titanium sporks. Qualified for free shipping which saved US$19.

  • Dang it! I bought some stuff last week which cost about $20 shipping. Oh wells, i did find a coupon that gave $10 off my order

  • +2

would the chocolate han solo melt by the time it gets here?

    • Probably not. USA is still quite cold while Australia is heading towards Autumn weather. I wouldn't order chocolate from overseas during northern or southern hemisphere summers, but now should be fine.

    • +12

I want to always live in a world where this is a valid and serious question

      • +3

        You do

        • +13

Ask ThinkGeek to freeze your Han Solo in Carbonite for delivery.

  • The up voting on this one is a beautiful geeky hands up for heaps of ozbargainers

  • sigh i thought that I was finally going to be able to kind of justify buying a lightsaber, but it's too expensive for economy shipping

    • As in no insurance? Don't really understand what you mean.

Also emailed to any Think Geek member… So he hardly needs credit.

      • oic. I didnt know. I unsubscribed from their lists too much spam I couldnt buy. lol Maybe now I can!

        • +1

          True, fair point.

  • omfg they have caffeinated lollies now!? that is massive geeky (but awesome)

    • +1

      A) I don't think you know what 'geeky' means….

      B) they don't ship most edibles to Aus. Maybe hard candy is different?

      • Depends on the caffeine or product some products are banned in australia so most likely customs may sieze it, so thinkgeek do not send them.

        • Think Geek don't post most caffeinated products to Australia but Chemical Evolution do. I've ordered from them a couple of times and have never had a problem with customs.

      • just googled define geeky:

        Definition for geeky:
        Web definitions:
(geek) a carnival performer who does disgusting acts

I bet you didn't know that one either LMAO!

    • Caffeinated lollies have been around for 10+ years!

I'm pretty sure penguin mints can be purchased locally:
      http://www.coolpc.com.au/catalog/index.php?cPath=23

  • Filled my cart with $54 worth of small items and went to checkout but the shipping charge for economy is still $9.95 so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

    • Ignore that, the shipping charge is shown when you select shipping but the cart reflects the shipping price of $0.

(not SUCH a great deal really since the free shipping only applies to small items - under 4 pounds - which would normally only cost $10ish to ship anyway).

      • I think they didn't even offer international economy in the past .. I remember minimum shipping costing me like $35 for a $15 item.

  • I just wonder if this is going to be like Amazon UK, where it gets extended indefinitely, but always with the risk that it could disappear tomorrow…

    • Unfortunately, the Amazon UK free shipping was not extended indefinitely :(

      • -1

It was… it just finally ended.

  • +11

I always seem to find random things I want off that site throughout the years, without even searching, but shipping has always been too expensive. Now that there's free shipping; I can't find a single thing I want. Wtf?

    • +10

The difference is that today you'll actually have to complete the transaction since shipping is no longer the thing limiting you from buying. So the things that you always thought, "Fuck, I would totally buy this if not for the expensive shipping." now seems like, "Fuck, do I really need this?"

  • Just noticed there is a $13 item in the "gifts under $10" section:
    http://www.thinkgeek.com/interests/giftsunder10/?icpg=leftna…

    • +9

Those scam artists! Lucky we have warriors such as yourself to warn us common folk that would otherwise completely mistake the item labelled as $13 for cheaper than $10. Thank you, brave sir.

  • :( Tauntaun sleeping bag price is doubled by shipping, not eligible for international economy :(

  • +2

u can get a lot of the stuff on thinkgeek from focal price for much cheaper

    • love the avatar

  • Damn, hope it lasts a couple of days until the ME3 hoodies to be restocked..

  • Any good buys?

  • Has anyone tried the "SCIFIDINER" coupon code to get $10 off on orders of >$50?
(as in… is it working?) =)

    • just tried, didn't work. says: "A better promotion has overriden this one"

  • why is free shipping not working for me… i just want the Mario chess set and Plush Beating Heart (Thank you New Girl)…. help me please!

    • I'd guess that the chess set would go over the free weight limit (5 pounds - 2.2kg)

  • Yes, I've been eyeing off the Portal 2 Plush Turret with Sound http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/plush/e71c/ for ages but the shipping was $36 and I also wanted the Wheatley keychain LED Flashlight http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/lights/ea43/ which I could add to the turret at no extra shipping cost, so for the both the shipping would have been $36 but just got it for nothing, awesome.

    1. Assorted superhero babydoll shirts ordered
    2. Find a girlfriend
    3. ???
    4. Profit!
  • i went to buy:
Samurai Sword Handle Umbrella - Katana
    The ThinkGeek Annoy-a-tron - 2 Pack
    Utili-Key 6-in-1 Tool

    total price: $52.97
    Shipping : $69.49

no reduction in shipping, even on the last paypal screen, damn shame :(

    • The umbrella's must be too big for economy.

  • Just like the above poster, as soon as I saw this I went straight there to buy my Bag of Holding (been eyeing this off for weeks, but $40 shipping is a killer). Read his comment and was utterly disappointed :(

    • hold the boat! I managed to order the special edition (backpack) version of the Bag of Holding with free economy shipping. Only the regular messenger back was unavailable for the free shipping!

      • Has anyone got a link to this backpack? I see people mentioning it, but I can't find it.

EDIT: DERP found it, same product, just click the dropdown box to order. It appears to be the exact same bag, but it has back strap(s) attached to it.

    • Five messenger bags at $59.99 per bag shipped is $299.95 + $109.29 = $81.84 per bag. If anyone in Melbourne is willing to get in, then we could buy it together

EDIT: Got the backpack as mentioned above.

      • Gotta say I can't go past www.tombihn.com for the best messenger bags. Not as cheap as this but incredible forethought re the design and the bags I bought a few years ago look good as new.

  • you have to get a Star Wars Force FX Lightsabers
    they are the bomb

    http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/collectibles/b72c/?pfm=eb5…

    • Got two and yes they are, won't ship for free though,
just noticed they went up in price, got mine at christmas for $99 each (but only 700points)

    • nice

  • Combination of size and weight restrictions was a bit tricky but I managed to get a bunch of stuff split across two orders with free whiskey stones included in each order from previous geek points. Only disappointment is I couldn't get an Airzooka Air Gun to fit http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/warfare/60b6/?srp=2

    • I want some whisky stones, I'll get some free with my next $50 order.

  • Annoying trying to find out which items were not allowing me economy postage…. but otherwise great deal! Got that Tardis Mug I've been eyeing off for awhile now.. :)

  • +1

Has been Ozbargained. They now changed it to spend over $75

    • Free shipping at $75 is for the US only so this dealio has expired. :(

  • I'll bet it was the Bag of Holding. Shipping was $38 and which was then free.
They probably didnt like losing that much.

  • +1

    Doh!

I spent way too long thinking about what I wanted… missed out on the deal. Don't feel like paying $61 for shipping my order.

  • Looks like the free delivery offer is no more :(

  • :(

  • Well my first order went through, made 2 more, each a day apart and both orders thinkgeek cancelled today.

  • has anyone received their's yet?
