$150/$100 Google Store Credit for Pre-Ordering a Pixel 6 (from $999) or Pixel 6 Pro (from $1299) @ Google Store

1870

Pixel 6 is out and I can't wait to get my hands on this phone.

Google is offering a $150 store credit when pre ordering a Pixel 6 Pro.
$100 store credit for the Pixel 6.

Not all colours seem to be available at the moment and items seem to be already selling through.

Prices start at $1299 for the Pro and $999 for the Pixel 6 which is a great price for such a high end flagship phone. Specs look great. Camera amazing…and the much hyped tensor chip.

I'm seeing some shortages coming based on demand and chip shortages. I understand that the first drop is only about 7 000 000 devices globally so get in quick….

Interweb already lighting up with very good reviews.

Also another deal with free nest audio from JB Hifi courtesy of DialaDeal
Harvey Norman also providing a pre order bonus

Unsure how this hangs together with the Google TV /Netflix deal with the $70 coupon…if you figured this out let me know.

Update: the $70 Google TV voucher dropped now and can be applied to your purchase. You still get the $150 store credit which is great. Delivery times however seem to blowout till December or January 22 already.

      • USD $899 is approximately AUD $1,200. No free delivery and then pay freight and insurance with a forwarding account. It does end up being almost the same cost in the end to get it here.

        • People always say the us is cheaper but it's not really most of the time :)

          • @G-rig: It is cheaper if you're there so reality is, it is cheaper! I get why it is cheaper there though so I'm not fussed.

        • You also get the free USB pixel buds in Australia

    • Google is more competing with iPhone 13 range prices which are much higher here than the US, I think that's why the 6 is more expensive but the 6 pro is cheaper

    • Sadly only hardware - Google Store is separate to the Google Play Store. Former is for physical products, latter for digital products.

  • +1

Terrible front design, you can see the top and bottom edge is much thicker than pixel 5 or Samsung… Better wait next gen Samsung coming next year

    • -5

Does Samsung flagship as the pure Android experience? How about the Tensor chip? Free high-quality photo backup option?

      • I'm going to get 6 pro and agree with point 1 and 2. However i think they removed free photo backup.. very happy to be wrong here!

        • You may be right, even though Google made it very confusing.

New Pixel devices may be missing out on this perk.

      • Pixel 6 has unlimited saver on google photos??!?

        • as above. potentially goine with pixel 6. would be nice if anyone can confirm.

      • No, but it has about 100 extra features, is often far cheaper, higher quality build, better actual phone hardware like mic and speakers. Most should be paying for backups so they aren't restricted to a certain brand of phone anyway. And what are you going to use the Tensor chip for? You know it's based off samsung CPU?

        • +1

Samsung just make it, though both use reference ARM cores, the configuration is unique to Tensor.

      • I care more on screen and look than other stuff, this is why I stay away from iphone, lol

      • -2

I don't think anyone cares about a tensor chip or not, its a phone, as long as it performs, which all the high end ones do. however I will personally never buy another samsung, between their broken apps, bloat and bixby the s9 was the last samsung phone I am likely to ever own. But I will say at least the samsung phones look a 1000 times better than the pixel.

        • After 12 years of pixel and Samsung, I gave up and bought an iPhone haha. As a tech and phone enthusiast, it hurts me, but android IMO is still a mess and Samsung was by far the best in my experience.

The fact reviewers are coming out saying they have weird embargo during the preorder period is enough of a red flag for me to not consider any purchase until the proper reviews come out. Extended embargos scream problems

    • Pixels have always had their fair share of issues, I would be waiting a month after release to be safe. I remember getting my Pixel 5, and finding the call quality to be one of the worst I've used in years, the speakers were terrible, and it loaded web pages slower that an iPhone from 4 years ago.

    • +2

You can always return it unopened if the reviews suck, you won't receive the phones before the review embargo. Also google will probably remove the embargo later this week because apple also have an embargo for next monday for their new devices.

      • Yeah the microphone, earpiece and loud suck compared to pixel 3XL, however it was sold cheaper as a less premium phone. Hopefully they have made some actual improvement on the pixel 6 if the price is creeping up again

    • If no one has a review, then it wasn't done well but Mkbhd managed to get a lengthy review out. If its weird, how did he manage to do it when they wouldve got it at the same time. Some people just like to complain about things.

      • MKBHD actually highlighted the review embargo and pointed out that it's a red flag in his review. He said he'd have a longer review once the embargo lifts. It seems it's around software and photos/videos.

  • +1

Shouldn't people wait for some reviews to come out?

I get the hype around it but Google has released some real substandard products from time to time.

    • there's quite a strict review embargo for good measure too

  • Did the 150 credit show up on the confirmation? I only see the Google 1 discount

    • +1

No, the bonus 150 will be emailed to 30 days from dispatch

      • -1

Wouldnt you just order a second one with the 150$ credit and return the first one?

        • +1

According to others, the credit is only sent after the return window closes.

          • +1

@reactor-au: Based on many comments here though, it seems the invoice states both stores credit from Google one and promotional credit.

Mine only states google one which is a bit of a concern. I'll try to contact then and confirm

            • @SmiTTy: The invoice doesn't, the email states both.

              • @kulprit: My email confirmation doesnt either. Just the google one 10% off :(

Although I did contact them via chat and when they checked the order they did suggest to me my order was eligible. So fingers crossed!

    • Yes it does in the confirmation email.

"With this purchase of Pixel 6 Pro, you can get $150 Store Credit that can be used towards a future Google Store purchase. Terms apply."

  • +2

Im from New Zealand, if I order one to my friend in aussie and then he ships it to me in New Zealand, this should be sweet yeah?!

they not on sale here in NZ

    • Should be fine. Use DHL though, not AusPost/NZPost. Thank me later.

      • Why is that?

        • +2

Because AusPost currently takes four weeks to deliver from Melbourne to Melbourne.

Extrapolating for distance, you'll probably see it land in Auckland circa 2023

  • Anyone know what the return policy for these. Can i use it and get the full refund if i dont love it..?

    • 14 days return policy even if opened, no restocking fee in Australia

  • So if you were on the 2TB plan already, would you get both:

    • 10% store credit
    • Plus either $100/$150 depending on which phone you bought

    In about 21 / 30 days time?

    That's pretty decent if true.

    • +1

I will let you know in approx 38 days, I'm going on that assumption for now

      • +1

Yep this worked for me when I pre ordered the Pixel4XL. Got the 10% plus the addition $150. So expect it will be the same this time around.

      • I'm not that optimistic - I spoke with them earlier they told me that you can only get one credit for the same purchase. For example, if I use the $70 Birthday sale credit that I'm yet to receive, to buy the Pixel Pro, then I won't receive the $150. And, apparently, I can't return my unopened Chromecast that I bought from the Birthday sale just to get the $70 Pixel credit.

  • +2

Dissappointed I wanted Pixel 6 Pro 256gb in colour other than black… Oh well guess I'll cope with 128gb. Got to say I think this pricing is extremely sharp for a flagship and when I combine 10% back and $150 credit. Great deal indeed!

    • +1

A shame we can't use the credit to pay for our Google One subscription, but handy for the new upcoming Pixel stand I guess

  • +1

Anyone know whether free unlimited space saver uploads to Google photos is still included? I couldn't find any reference to it on the Google website or some of the announcement articles online… I guess the rumour about no more free uploads is true then?

  • +1

Finding it hard to see available cases from the major brands (e.g. Spigen, Caseology, etc.) Would we expect these to hit Amazon AU and aussie online retailers today/soon? Prefer to get the case at the same time or before the phone the comes!

If anyone has any links, please feel free to share!

    • +1

I got a cheaper case about 3 weeks ago off ebay to see if I liked the size and shape prior to ordering. It also allows me to have a case whilst I figure out which case I want stick with.

      • Great idea, will do the same - thanks!

  • +3

For what it's worth I signed up to one month of the 2tb google one plan and my order confirmation email shows both the 10% credit for that as well as being eligible for the $150 store credit for preordering a 6 Pro. Been an expensive couple of days between this and the MacBook Pro bring on end of next weeks deliveries!

    https://imgur.com/a/Bs5X9is

    • Not bad, assume too late to upgrade teir to 2tb now to get the 10% off (and downgrade later perhaps)

      • I actually missed it on my first order, so quickly signed up for one month of the 2tb plan ($12ish) then reordered. Once that was confirmed I canceled the first order. Once I have the phone and confirmed credits, I'll downgrade the google one plan.

        • I did exactly this and it only showed the 10% credit on my confirmation and did not have the $150 like yours. My original order has the $150. I didn't want to risk it and cancel. Wondering if 3rd times a charm and try again?

          • @smoothymcmellow: It might be limited to only 1x 150$ credit per Google account

          • @smoothymcmellow: Yeah the uncertainty on this is why I thought it was worth posting my experience and screenshot because I was a bit nervous it wouldn't work either (especially as at the time I ordered there was all sorts of google cart/payment issues)

Good luck if you try again at least they are easy to cancel if it doesn't work out

            • @drc13: Worked on 4th try! At least I have an email confirmation of it to push back if I don't get it

    • Where is the 10%? Is that cashback or is it google one credits?

      • +1

$150 google credit for preordering the 6 Pro
        plus
$129.90 store credit for using the 10% google one (2tb plan only) discount which is automatically applied in the cart

so essentially paid $1299 for the 128gb 6pro and got $280 google credits

        • ok thanks for explaining.

        • So too late to sign up for 2tb for the 10% now?
Already got a Google One account but 100gb

          • @G-rig: In my case I reordered and cancelled my original order once confirming it worked. Fortunately no change to delivery date.

    • Can I apply for Google One 2TB now to become eligible?

  • Looks like this offer if valid through to November 7th reading the * at the bottom so no need to preorder if waiting on reviews… That said as you also mentioned odds are will be out of stock by then

    • +1

I'm sweating a Pixel 2XL from 2017, I can't afford to wait and see if stock runs out considering the global chip shortage and the global shipping delays. Order now, cancel later rather.

  • Can I use this credit for future Google One costs, up until it expires in Oct '22?

    • +1

      Only for device purchases

  • +1

Anyone ordered 2 on the same account and gotten 2 $150 credits? Plus will jump on the 2tb one plan for the extra 10%.

    • +1 I like to know too as I've managed to secure two. However, if my 4XL buying experience from Google Store remains true, I'd say it's $150 Google Store irrespective of the number of devices purchased. I have contacted Google Store, awaiting their response.

      • The terms and conditions say up to two per person so should be good. If black and white come back in stock will grab them , although annoying I missed the student beans 10% off.

        • They used similar wording during Pixel 4 XL Black Friday Sales. I bought two 4XL's thinking I would get 2x promo credits, but only received one, as their argument was "one promo per account respectively on the number of devices purchased". I ended up spending 2x 1-hour sessions with them, even got their lawyer involved… in the end, they provided the second credit. I hope I won't have to go through the same pain again…

      • Last year I bought a Pixel 5 and two "4a 5G" phones, got credit for them all. Which added up to more than the "$375 per year" limit. I've used that towards my Pixel 6 Pro purchase. Tracking looks like it will be with me tomorrow :)

  • Does Google charge the full amount now at Preorder, or at shipping time?

I've got a CC to churn for points arriving soon that I'd want it purchased on.

    • My CC shows the full amount already

  • Android 12 is out now for everyone else.

    • yup got it on my pixel 3 this morning

  • +2

I really want the pro in 256 white. Wonder when that is coming in stock

    • Yeah I wanted white too, but only the black one has anything in other sizes.

  • The $70 credit to buy this phone is just a stupid promotion. If we use that credit, you'd miss out on the pre-order bonus of $150 credit…

    • Yeah, pretty annoyed by that as I wouldn't have made the birthday purchase otherwise

  • +11

Just letting you guys know, if you still have a student email address you can get a 10% discount on the Pixel 6 (verify with Student Beans) for a total at checkout of A$1,169.10. Then you also get the $150 store credit for Pixel 6 Pro and I got an additional 3% Shop credit for Google One 200GB Plan, A$35.07. You could possibly get slightly more store credit by upgrading to the 2TB plan instead of the 200GB, but I already had that so wasn't worth the upgrade.
So my total with store credit deducted was $984.03 for Pixel 6 Pro 128GB, pretty good:)

    • +1

"To redeem your promotional code, visit store.google.com/au, add desired device(s) to your cart, enter the promotional code during checkout to receive a 10% discount for all device purchases, excluding any Google Pixel phones. Available only while stock lasts. The 10% discount on all devices excluding Google Pixel phones will be applied at checkout. Promotional code must be redeemed by 31st December 2021 11:59pm AEST, or it will expire."

      Wait how?

      • The only promotional code you need is the Student Discount: https://google-store-au.connect.studentbeans.com/au
Then log in and it gives you a code to enter at checkout. The Google One and store credit are automatically applied at checkout, I even called the sales team and they confirmed that you can stack all 3 in one transaction and the store credit appears in your account 30 days from the delivery date.

        • nice. sometimes I wish i was a student again

          • @RQNinja: I graduated from ANU in 2018 and still have access to my ANU email…

        • Can confirm that mine has apparently stacked and the student discount worked.

    • +5

You are the best! Just used this to purchase Pixel 6 Pro 128GB.

      $1,169.10 after 10% discount.
      $12.49/month Google One 2TB

-$116.9 10% Shop credit with Google One 2TB
      -$150.0 Store credit

      $914.69 !

      • To get Google one 2TB plan for discount.. do you sign up for the plan prior to ordering the phone, or you can do that whilst ordering.

        • Following this thread… if we can stack both discounts probably enough for me to just risk it. Do I just need to buy one month of Google One use the discount the cancel? Can anyone confirm

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: credits will apply 30 days after dispatch, so you may need to keep it until the credits show in your account.

Ts and Cs also mention that you need to have the subscription status at the time of credit activation, meaning you can't just cancel after ordering the phone.

What I am not sure is if you can downgrade after ordering, but for me, I will just wait until I get the credit, and cancel.

            • @aveeno bb: Cheers. Worth eating another $12 though then again I am not sure what I would spend the credit on so the phone alone credit may be enough… I am not big on ear buds and the pixel buds seem the only thing worth redeeming. Unless you want two pixel phones

        • +1

need to do it prior, as there is no option to sign up during pixel checkout.

    • From what I can see, the Google One store credit is separate from the Pixel 6 offer and you don't need to purchase them in the same tranaction.

    • When do I see the discount for Google One? Is it at checkout? How does the credit come through?

  • +1

Note white 128gb Pro is now shipping end November. Black still available

    • Totally out of stock now for the white.

  • +1

If you have a Goolge One subscription you can get even more store credit.

eg. Standard plan is $4.39 for one month and you can get 3% back. The Premium plan is $12.49 for one month and you get 10% back.
    https://one.google.com/about/plans

Haven't tested if these stack with the $150 store credit.
