$150/$100 Google Store Credit for Pre-Ordering a Pixel 6 (from $999) or Pixel 6 Pro (from $1299) @ Google Store

1870

Pixel 6 is out and I can't wait to get my hands on this phone.

Google is offering a $150 store credit when pre ordering a Pixel 6 Pro.
$100 store credit for the Pixel 6.

Not all colours seem to be available at the moment and items seem to be already selling through.

Prices start at $1299 for the Pro and $999 for the Pixel 6 which is a great price for such a high end flagship phone. Specs look great. Camera amazing…and the much hyped tensor chip.

I'm seeing some shortages coming based on demand and chip shortages. I understand that the first drop is only about 7 000 000 devices globally so get in quick….

Interweb already lighting up with very good reviews.

Also another deal with free nest audio from JB Hifi courtesy of DialaDeal
Harvey Norman also providing a pre order bonus

Unsure how this hangs together with the Google TV /Netflix deal with the $70 coupon…if you figured this out let me know.

Update: the $70 Google TV voucher dropped now and can be applied to your purchase. You still get the $150 store credit which is great. Delivery times however seem to blowout till December or January 22 already.

The pro price is definitely more accessible. Thought I'd have to settle on the base model.

Very excited for the call features & camera.

Does it say when it'll be shipped?

Other note I thought I'd wait for a Telstra JB deal but not sure if I have the patience now after watching the launch event…

    • +9

I feel the same, but I'm going to wait for the Telstra JB deals. Pixel 2 XL has served me well, and now its watch has ended.

      • I miss my pixel 2xl
Left it outside in the rain and will never forgive myself. Stick with a Huawei to bridge to what's finally come!!

        • +3

I go all the way to the nexus phone…I think it was nexus 6p…comes full circle with this release

        • @DialADeal But the Pixel 2XL has an IP67 rating, can withstand being submerged in water to 1 metre for up to 30 minutes!!
What happened to your phone, or did it already have a crack in it?

          • @PukeyLuke: Yep cracked it 😔
Was too cheap to replace the screen (even when I got a great replacement deal when I was in Hong Kong)
And then rained right on it.

        • At least with the pixel 5 you can take in the pool and not worry about that. Mind you, the speaker is rubbish and hard to hear as it's under the screen

      • +3

I've never been so attached as I am to my 2XL… even a move to the 6 will be a reluctant one :S

        • Not when you compare battery Life, the old ones are rubbish where I can go two days on the pixel 5.

It's just a tool no need to go too attached. But seriously, usually the camera, processor, ram, storage, screens are better, aesthetics up to the individual

          • +1

@G-rig: My battery will easily last two days and the phones touching 4 years old, granted I don't play games. I still use my 2XL for watching videos, browsing, emails, some network utils on site, text, chat etc oh, and a LOT of calls.

            • +2

@REDRUM: Well that sounds a lot better than the pixel 3xl

        • +2

I'm too attached to my 2XL to upgrade when it still runs great. I know it's probably going to fall off a cliff in the next 6 months but it's hard to preemptively dispose of such a great phone.

        • Wish I had the same kind of love for my Pixel 2XL lol, it was alright but by its 3rd birthday it was screaming to be replaced.

          • +1

@pennypincher98: You may as well go back to a nexus 6p lol
Those were the days when you'd get a free upgrade to pixel 1 as a replacement

            • @G-rig: I jumped ship from Google after the Pixel 3, 4 and 5 were fizzers. Pixel 6 looks promising, hopefully they don't stuff this one up.

Not sure what the point of your comment was but lol

              • @pennypincher98: Yeah people just saying how good the 2XL is but it's well obselete so time to move on.

Apple seem like good devices but not keen to get into all that (and expensive)

                • @G-rig: Yeah agreed it's well time to move on. Honestly as time has gone by, Apple has implemented some of my favourite Android features but the walled garden will never appeal to me.

                  • @pennypincher98: Yeah but f apple haha
Hate iTunes on the iPhone 3G and haven't looked at it since.

                    • @G-rig: Yeah there's a lot I still don't like about Apple so would never purchase haha (or at least not until significant changes are made)

    • +3

      Est arrival 27/10

Will the call features available in Australia though

Getting an error 500 on the site when trying to order…looks like Google is getting globally ozbargained…

    1. That’s an error.

There was an error. Please try again later. That’s all we know.

      • It crashes when going to payment

      • +3

Yep, and when you scroll to the bottom of the fine print you'll see theres an extra piece to this bargain..

Which i think most people have missed.

Have been waiting for the $70 GTV voucher to come through before I order. Was the white ever in stock at 256gb? The fact JB and Oworks also don't show it makes me think it didn't exist for AUS ordering.

    • I got a $10 voucher for the Google Store this morning from "Google Chromecast", how certain are we of that $70 coming?

      • True, no mention of the date of the voucher in the previous deal. I kind of feel rug pulled.

        • +1

Emailed by November 1st I thought. Haven't received mine.

        • "Eligible customers will receive their promotional code via the e-mail address that was used to place an order from Google Store Australia by 30th November 2021"
          We have to wait :(

          • @svict4: also waiting on this - if it comes too late I assume it becomes a 'choose the credit for the previous purchase' or 'get the preorder bonus'
which is annoying if we can't do both

          • +1

@svict4: and $100/$150 credit ends 7th November… so what are the chances they will send the voucher out on the 8th? -_-"

        • I addressed this here

Don't know how much help it will be especially now that the pro is sold out.

      • +2
        • Yep, I'll be a little less cynical next time.

The "by 30th Nov" bit was the concern though. Maybe they needed to finalise the birthday promos before the launch date was confirmed.

  • +1

That Pro model price is an absolute cracker. . …will sell out like hot cake

    • +1

Roger! Just bought the pro via JB

  • works now and bought!

  • +4

Bit disappointed the guaranteed 5 years of updates we all heard about only extends to security updates, OS is the same as previously. Expected Google to do better than Samsung now that they're on their own silicon.

    • +3

That's disappointing if you're spending laptop money on a phone tbh. I've been tempted to switch to iphone since I know those will last 3-5 years but now seeing the price for this I'm torn. Will wait for the reviews cause if the camera blows everything away, it'll clinch it for me.

      • It does suck, but I would guess they are not making much money on these models, and are looking to make us all upgrade after a couple of years.

      • +1

You don't consider this laptop money? You can by two midrange laptops with $1000.

      • People spend more money on a Rolex than a car. What's your point? Getting sick of these posts. Don't buy it and stop negative comments.

    • Even the Pixel 3 which came with Android 9 is getting Android 12. So I would expect Pixel 6 to get an additional year of OS updates to Android 16.

      • That's still part of the 3 years of Android version updates they guaranteed with the Pixel 3 though, it was guaranteed through October 2021 for the Pixel 3. Pixel 6 is through October 2024. Nothing has changed there. Security updates are guaranteed for an extra 2 years now. Pixel 6 might get Android 16, but Google aren't promising that.

  • +2

Don't know how reliable this source is but apparently Telstra will sell them for a substantial discount: https://eftm.com/2021/10/google-pixel-6-and-pixel-6-pro-wher…

    • +1

But only with signing up to a plan?

      • Ah crap was so distracted by the price on the table i missed that bit.

    • Seems like they don't even have the 6 on the page yet.

    • +5

Telstra won't sell shit at a discount. The plans will probably be overpriced.

Hopefully the professionals figure out a way to get around it.

      • +2

Quite Happy with this boost prepaid still for what was about $229 for a year. Only 4g but don't think I really need 5g

    • Telstra deals are up if anyone is curious. Cheap phone if you can handle the monthly plan.

  • +2

    good morning everyone

  • Phone aesthetics is kinda important to me and that is one fugly phone my goodness. Will stick with my 4a 5g

  • +4

    the camera strip looks ugly

    • +1

i agree…unusual…and will take getting used too….they are marketing this now as the camera bar

      • +2

More of a camera pub. Looks a bit rowdy

    • +2

I agree. But I think most people bput some bulky case on it anyway and it really helps with the aesthetics. I have a note 20 ultra and without the case the camera area looks awful, protruding from the phone a great deal. But with a case, I think it looks great. And I don't know the last time I seen someone without a case on their phone.

      • +5

And I don't know the last time I seen someone without a case on their phone

Generally the people on pubic transport with shattered screens

    • +3

Interesting, didn't downvote you, but I reckon that strip looks way cleaner than the ginormous wonky camera bumps on the galaxy and iPhones - plus it doesn't rock on the table

  • Do we have any idea when phone carriers will be listing this?

    • +1

Already listed with Voda. Telstra and Optus probably within a couple of hours

  • After trying for ages, finally got the order in. Noob question, when do you get the $150 credit?

    • they say 21 days

    • for your next purchase once you have kept the phone for 30 days (past its return period i believe)

  • +1

Pardon the silly question but is it likely price will drop as we head into Christmas?

    • +6

hold up, let me just get my crystal ball?

      • +4

better yet look at previous trends which tells us that Google always notably discount Pixels a few weeks/months after launch!

    • +1

      Yes.
Although I don't know how much of a risk these phones will sell out. Unlike previous years

    • If current demand is a divining rod and remains strong then it's highly unlikely there will be discounting.
Because they can make plenty of money without doing it.

  • +2

In Europe they are offering Bose 700 headphones.

    • Yes at particlar retailers, not from Google Play store itself

    • That is a solid proposition, I think they had something similar with the pixel 5 in the uk

  • +1

No 256gb available for pro silver color :(

Does anyone know whether there is and education store for Google for better price?

  • Does the 10% Google One (2Tb + plan) store credit also get applied to purchases?

    • It says so when I add to my cart - sweet if it stacks with this deal though (I think it does)

    • Yes, I think so. Worth going that plan for one month just for the phone purchase to get an extra $129 back in credit!

    • +1

Just reading terms and conditions, it says a max credit of $225 per transaction, so not sure if that means it won't fully stack

      https://support.google.com/googleone/answer/9003266#zippy=%2…

    • +1

I decided to test signing up to get the 10%, put through an order and my order confirmation only had the 10% credit and no mention of the $150 credit which my other order confirmation has on it. So cancelled second order. Anyone confirmed their order lists both credits?

      • +1

Didn't actually go ahead to order, but upon cart/checkout I could see both the $150 + 10% via Google One

        • +1

Interesting, mine only showed 10% on second order even though terms and conditions say you can get $150 back on up to 2 orders. I didn't want to risk 2 phones haha

          • @smoothymcmellow: Did it a 3rd time and it worked, had both applied and confirmed

Issue though is shipping date changed to end of November, so cancelled that order too. Just going to have to accept my $150 back only

  • +3

I would rather $150 off than a store credit.
Paid$800 for the pixel 5, felt it could have been a better phone. Battery awesome, microphone and loudspeaker seems rubbish, earpiece vol not good either.

Wonder if the pixel 6 is $400 better.

The camera bar on the back is a bit odd, wouldn't sit flat on a desk - would you bother with a case

    • +2

Not many phones can sit flat on a desk without a case nowadays. Least this won't be uneven as the bar goes all the way across.
