Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2021 (11.5" OLED, 6GB/128GB SD870, Widevine L1) ~$575.69 AUD shipped @ GizTop

1350
PADPRO30

I came across Wystri Warrick's deal that is posted here and recently had put in an order for a new phone from Giztop, while browsing the site I remembered seeing this same tablet was on sale, so went back and checked the price.

This comes in cheaper than the other deal and I was encouraged to post this as a new deal.

Rather than copying and pasting all the specs, you can view the previous deal and soak up all the effort that was put in to get the info before deciding if you want to make a purchase.

  • Standard price: $429.00 USD
  • Apply the coupon above to get a $30 USD discount (Expiry 30 Oct)
  • Add on $29.99 USD for shipping via DHL

It brings the total price to $428.99 USD including shipping.

If you're using a Mastercard with no international transaction fees, this will cost you exactly $575.69 AUD thanks to the Mastercard currency calc. Those forex rates will apply until around 11am Monday morning AEDT.

Remember to always pay in USD via PayPal and let your card issuer handle the conversion.

The bonus here is the shipping. DHL don't muck around as many of us know. I've ordered from Giztop in the past, their processing times are fast and customer service for me has been really good.

You can only apply one promo code at a time, so while there are discount codes for signing up to the newsletter, the discount is much smaller and you can't apply both.

Enjoy.

    • Correct, they don't charge GST. They also label your parcel as low value for customs purposes.

      • That's great. Now I'll really think about it, as the extra 10% GST on it might just tip it over the "I won't consider" scenario. But at $573, with the keyboard totally around $700, might be a goer. The only thing is the future update being not certain, or that if you update, might lose functionality. I take it that you've ordered one bonezAU? Have you got it yet? How long does it take to get here from ordering mate? Thanks.

        • It certainly is a good price, but I haven't actually ordered one. I got myself a new phone from Giztop and noticed this tablet when browsing, then a couple of days later I saw Wystri Warrick's deal so posted what I'd found.

At the same time as buying my phone, I also picked up a couple of Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad's, I just wanted cheap tablets for the kids to play games on so the $575 tab was a bit too much, especially when buying two.

I ended up splitting the phone and tablets into two parcels and paying double shipping because I didn't want it to be over $1000 and then get a bill for GST.
When they shipped both packages, they emailed me a note saying they'd written $158 USD + $15.95 USD value for the phone and $99 USD + $15.95 USD shipping for the two tablets, so I was a bit annoyed that I had paid extra shipping but you can't win them all :)

          • @bonezAU: How long did it take for you to get the phone and tab? At least they tried to mitigate your GST at the expense of paying postage twice. However, if you were to post them together, might be too heavy, and they'll slug you for a higher postage anyway. So, when they declare like that, you're not going to get pulled up for GST, even when they declare a value of $158?

            • @aristocrat: I ordered everything on 21st Oct and it was packed and picked up by a "shipping agent" on Sat 23rd. Their website states that the shipping agent then takes it to Hong Kong (takes 2-3 business days) where it's handed over to DHL. Tomorrow being day 3 I expect the packages will be handed over. Once DHL gets them, I would expect 3-5 days to be at my door step.

I was given the DHL tracking number on Saturday but at the moment the tracking just shows "Shipping information received".

They would have let me group all items together in a single package as far as I know, the phone cost $29.99 USD for shipping and the 2 tablets were $39.99, if I dropped it down to 1 tablet in the cart then the shipping would go to $29.99 as well, so they just increase by weight it seems.

I don't think customs would pull anything up like that, it would be very rare. I've imported all sorts of stuff via DHL in the past with declared values below the true value and there's never been an issue.

@bonezAU: That's good to know, thanks mate. Have fun with your new gadgets.

            • @aristocrat: @aristocrat After conversion with the keyboard it cost me $724AUD. I ordered it on Sunday however there was a mix up with my address. Hoping it will be dispatched this week

        • Ordered on the 24th, got the DHL shipping number today. Got the whole package tablet, pen and keyboard Case. Total AUD $787

  • +3

I just saw the price drop to USD $399 on the website, so I pulled the trigger. The promo code still works, but now it only gives you $15 off, not $30. But still, you're still saving an extra $15 comparing to before. So I bought this and the keyboard combo, to a total of USD$502.99 inclusive of DHL shipping. This equates to AUD $672.21 currently with no bank fee card.

    • According to their flash sales page it should still be $30 off, even at $399

      Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2021
      Coupon: PADPRO30, $30 Off

It might be worth jumping on the live chat for the extra $15.

      • Thanks for aristocrat for mentioning the price drop :)

I tried to reach out to their live chat but they said to wait until their China team is available tomorrow. I'm not sure if it's a pricing error since it was $429 before then $30 off is $399 - I don't think they meant a further $30 off with the coupon maybe? So not sure if I should just jump now or contact them tomorrow hmmm.

        • +1

Yesterday it was $429 when you clicked through to the product page, now it's $399.

It's still listed on the flash deals page as being $399 with a $30 discount by using a coupon code, so yeah probably have to wait until the team comes online tomorrow.

          • +1

@bonezAU: Yeah it still shows on the discount page as a $30 coupon, but when I try it, it is only saying $10 off… Sigh

            • @Mobe1969: I ended purchasing the tablet yesterday but did contact them today to double check. They unfortunately just told me to contact their support via email: [email protected].

I'm not going to bother trying to chase it up as I assume if they wanted to refund me, there will also be the 4.2% Paypal Fee deduction etc, but hopefully you can contact them and they can fix it up:)

            • @Mobe1969: Try your luck with the online chat, if they want you to email them it may be worth it as well, depends how much you value your time vs chasing up the possible discount.

They might just say no because they've already taken $30 off the device, so whatever the bonus gives you now is all you get.

I've had email responses from them in less than an hour before, and other times it's taken more than 24 hours so YMMV.

Either way it's still cheap IMO!

              • @bonezAU: What about price protection from the credit card company that you use?

                • @jobargain: Not sure about yours, but mine has a minimum claim of $75 AUD

                  • @bonezAU: My card doesn't have it, but was just throwing it out there

                    • @jobargain: @bonezAU I tried reaching out to their support, finally got an answer from Jessica who says:

                      Jessica Oct 30, 03:22

sorry for the delay response, the 30USD discount code has been used off , there is only 15$ discount now, and we even lowered the pad price on our site already, that is the same as discount.
                      thanks.

                      BOB Oct 29, 15:28
                      Hi Jessica,

Customer complaint: The customer ordered Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2021 and applied discount code PADPRO30, only a $15 discount was given instead of $30. The customer mailed on support id but has not got any reply from us.

                      Please do the needful

                      Thanks & regards
                      Bob

In other words, if you get $15 off, or $10 off, it's pot luck whatever they want to dish up to you. In the end, it's cheap enough, but don't like it when they don't honour what they advertised.

                      • @aristocrat: cheers for chasing it up.
Now its a waiting game for all of us that ordered from Giztop, to get their act together and start the actual shipping….still saying info received by DHL, parcel have not even been pickup yet

                        • @jobargain: I haven't even got a DHL note yet. Nothing's acknowledged aside from an invoice from Giztop.

  • I was advised by email they had "shipped it on Monday"
Received shipment advice on Wednesday, DHL today still showing only one entry "shipment information received" on Wednesday
Is everyone else having the same message, and any idea how long these take to arrive?
    Thanks

    • +3

I received shipping notices on Saturday 23/10 for my phone & 2 tablets (both separate packages).
Got the DHL tracking numbers and they are both saying "shipment information received".

I queried Giztop and their response was:

      Jessica Oct 27, 03:31
sorry for the delay caused, all of the packages has been delayed in present by HK DHL office, they need more time to proceed and solve the delay issue.
please be more patient, we confirm the package can be delivered within 10-15 days.
      thanks.

Meaning that they are confirming our packages will be delivered within the 10-15 day window that is promised during checkout, it seems there are just are delays with the shipping agent getting goods from mainland China to HK, or slow processing in HK.

I'm not entirely sure. I just subscribed to the DHL email updates on the tracking numbers and will sit back and wait.

Their customer service has been really good to me so far.

All thanks to COVID. I have a shipping container through work stuck on a dock in Japan… not enough boats.

      • -1

Starting to loose patient to be honest, I highly doubt it is a DHL issue. I had multiple things sent from HK to Aus throughout the year, never had an issue.
I suspect something is not right from the giztop end, they kept saying it's DHL issue, but when I pressed further, they said my order has been "completed" meaning it's been dispatched. So I asked where is it then, their reply "please allowed for 10-15 business days as advised on checkout"…
What a load of BS to blame everything on DHL

        • +4

My 2 DHL parcels from Giztop that were shipped on 23rd Oct were scanned by DHL in HK yesterday. So it seems it took them 9 days from when I got the tracking numbers. I'm not sure if this is a DHL issue (I doubt it?) or if it's actually taken their 'shipping agent' 9 days to pick up the packages from mainland China and row them in a boat down to HK.

DHL have been overestimating their ETAs since COVID began, I am confident this package should arrive by around Friday at the latest.

I'm in Perth and am half expecting the package's next stop will be Singapore, then direct to Perth.

          • @bonezAU: I get quite a lot of orders from HK, mainly blu rays - and it is very typical, irrespective of shipping method that they sit for around a week in HK I guess an unpublished "quarrantine" before leaving.

  • Anyone still waiting for their order to be dispatched?? Still waiting for mine, ordered on the 24th Oct, supposedly shipped on the 27 Oct

    • See my message just above.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11279359/redir

My stuff should be arriving in Perth at 3pm today, and with any luck be at my door step tomorrow.

Yeah read your post, the wait is unbearable 😅

        • It's crazy hey. To make matters worse, DHL seem to be fumbling around with my parcels, they have both been in Singapore for 2 days and were at 'shipment is on hold' all of yesterday (waiting for a flight) and at 4am this morning they were in transit to the airport.

There's a flight from SIN to PER that left 30 mins ago so fingers crossed it's on that.

    • Paid for the more expensive "express" 24 Oct.
Giztop said it shipped Monday 25 Oct,
DHL still only shows "Shipment information received" 27 Oct

      Frustrating.

Mine is still in HK (according to DHL) after being shipped (according to giztop) on 27 October.

I'll be interested to hear people's setup as far as side loading Google Play store and any firmware updates/mods/international versions used as well as the impact on Widevine L1.

  • They might have changed carrier. Mine is being sent by a mob called www.yunexpress.com. They have just received the goods after about 10 days in Shenzhen. Waiting for flights, etc…

    • Did you choose standard or express shipping? Sounds like you may have gone with the cheaper one…

      The express shipping is DHL.

      • Paid Express at $29.99 (8-15 days)

        • You got ripped off then. Send them a message/email and ask them to refund the difference.

          • @bonezAU: I might wait to see if I indeed get the product delivered within their timeframe of 8-15 (business) days, as they now enlighten me, not calender days, but business days. I'll harass them if I don't get it within the 15 business days. I think because I got the deal at $399, with the code, but the code only gave me $15 off, and now there is no code, hence they were going to make up that $15 difference that they gave me somewhere, hence cheapen out and gave me the secondary slower shipping. That's just my guess

            • @aristocrat: The website doesn't state business days, it states days. At the checkout, Express Shipping quotes 8-15 days. On the shipping options page, it lists the approximate times for each step of the process, again days, not business days.

Perhaps they're just telling you porkies because they shipped your package through Yun Express and not DHL.
My package has been in transit 13 days in total, it arrived at Perth airport mid-morning today so I am expecting DHL to deliver it tomorrow.

              Fingers crossed anyway…

              • +1

@bonezAU: When you go into the shipping info page, it does specify "business days", inclusive of processing time. I have emailed their support and they said they will refund half my shipping if arrived outside the promised timeframe.

              • @bonezAU: All shipping services go by business days regardless if it's specified or not it's always been this way.

  • +1

Mine arrived today. Was pre set up…is it worth factory resetting?

    • What's the pro and cons of factory resetting?

    • +1

Be careful with that, unless you're used to mucking around with stuff.

I got my Oneplus 9RT today and it was already set up too, I factory reset it and then had to figure out how to install the Google Play store again as well as all the default Google apps.

The reason they had pre-set it up is to load the Google stuff on there, it's not available by default in China.

If you're comfy doing it and navigating through changing your keyboard back to English and disabling all the pre-installed Chinese apps then go for it. I prefer to set it up myself from scratch anyway.

If you don't know / aren't sure, best leave it as it is IMO.

      • Yeh. Mainly asked due to security concerns. In case seller has added random malware etc. Shall tinker and factory reset.

Also. Been a few a years since using a tablet. Anyone using stock launcher or installing a different one? i.e Nova, PocoAny recommendations?

        • I think third party launchers may cause problems because of the desktop mode changes
          eg. https://www.reddit.com/r/androidtablets/comments/pvm6ev/xiao…

Update: Just received notification my order is arriving today.

        • Let us know how you go with it all.

          • +3

            @robotdad: All good.
Tablet arrived in an opened box ( the plastic circular sticker/seal was cut on one side, other side still there), sandwiched between two sheets of foam.

Open box, reveals tablet in its sleeve, clean and unmarked, packed in lenovo crepe/plastic protective sleeve, powers up to 30% battery or so.

            No film on screen.

Removing the tablet reveals a small packet below containing warranty, a pin to eject the SD tray, and a USB-C to 3.5mm audio adapter.
To the right of the box is another packet with the power adapter - US pins, 5V 3A (15W) with a USB A outlet, and a USB-A to USB-C charging cable (looks around 1.5m)

Turning the tablet on there is no setup, as others have mentioned it has had the Play store added.

I did not get the keyboard and mouse but tried pairing it with a Microsoft Sculpt bluetooth mouse and microsoft wedge bluetooth keyboard, also with a logitech T651 touchpad - all work fine, tested the PC mode.

System update shows firmware 12.6.238, no updates available.

            Model Lenovo TB-J716F

            ZUI 12.6.238 ST
            Android 11

Charges ok with the 18W PD Kogan charger.
Plugged in the 65W GaN charger and a message comes up "Turbo charging" so it must have some kind of fast charging - it reports 39 minutes remaining to charge from 62%.

So far so good, but will probably reset it to purge (or possibly reload) potential malware

@robotdad: No worries - the first issue just cropped up, loaded up playstore, logged in but it will not let me install chrome browser.

@repeat: Chrome was available on the green app store most of it is in Chinese, but you can search in English.
If I reset the tablet, I am guessing that app is where you get Google Play installed from.
I may be wrong so better to research this before you reset it.

@repeat: Chrome installed fine for me from the Play Store, Prime Video did too but Netflix won't install, says the device isn't compatible with this version.

@stinkychicken: Interesting. After I did a factory reset, I installed Google Play Services (the jigsaw thing) and the Playstore (the one with the most downloads) on the green "App Center"
Once they both installed, I opened the playstore, put my account in, and chrome installed.
Now Netflix is not showing up on the Play store…

I installed F-Droid from f-droid.org, installed the aurora store, then installed Netflix from that.
Works fine now, shows Widevine L1 in the licensing page..

Chrome didnt show up immediately in Playstore which was weird, using Brave Browser anyway, might as well earn som BAT tokens while you're at it.

I find Netflix and Youtube auto runs at a smaller resolution, and have to manually change it to at least 1080p. Doesnt happen on my Shield, Android phones and PC…strange..

          • @Kuro: What is concerning is the variation to what works and what doesn’t for different people, you would think that they should all be same model/same patch etc. and behave identically.

My delivery estimate from DHL was 11/11 but it arrived in Sydney last night and was delivered today.

  • My tablet is not playing Netflix in HD. DRM shows Widevine as L3 not L1. Tablet came with bootloader unlocked which I suspect is the problem. How do I fix to get Netflix HD?

    • Did you buy from Sunsky or Giztop? They did different things to the tablet to sell outside China.

        • Did it actually fix it? Don't want to brick it. Pretty disappointed it's not widevine l1 and no simple way to fix it

          • @polol: Yes, to get L1 you need to install the CN firmware in English. Works well after that and I am very happy with it.

            • @rusta2019: Thanks dude. What is the point of the "global" rom then? Any other drawbacks

              • @polol: Pretty sure there is not a global rom just a modified CN one. For what I need the standard CN is better than the modified. If someone knows the differences between the 2 let us know.

                • @rusta2019: hey I tried the steps following the script and now im stuck on fastboot mode, restarting just loops me back to this menu. any ideas?

                  • @polol: All I did was update to CN firmware then lock bootloader. Only issue I had was installing the windows USB driver which was a bit of fiddling around. Post your problem in the XDA forum and I bet someone can sort you out.

                    • @rusta2019: I tried following bootloader locking without flashing the firmware and that caused the boot loop. So I followed the steps to flash the Chinese firmware and after that it was bootloader locked and working.

Got the widevine L1. Pretty annoying that it didn't just ship like this. The only difference seems to be no Google Play installed but you just download the apk. 10x easier than figuring out XDA!

                      • @polol: Agreed, CN firmware is better than the modified one it was shipped with.
