Pretty sweet for a 1080 IPS 17" display

I know it's Harvey and this is 15.6" but still i7 processor.

Not touching HP any more. Quite sure it now stands for Horrible Products.

Largely an internal issue, think they try to cram too much into the shell and that's what makes them overheat and die so quickly. Shame because they used to be great.

maybe it is the user ……. I have got no issue using HP

        • Maybe you've just been lucky. Regardless, when you've got around a 65% fail rate within 6-12 months across multiple users there's enough data to warrant a switch.

          • @pennypincher98: have you run HP Support assistant to update your driver, bios and do hardware testing as well as run your windows update ?

            • @HolyCr4p: Dude we've tried a lot more than that. Even HP couldn't fix. Like I said above, enjoy the fact you've got a functioning HP machine.

Maybe it's the fact you've got an older machine that's still running well? If so, keep it until it dies because current HP is a downgrade.

          • @pennypincher98: 65% across how many devices?
            That's pretty horrific.

@M00Cow: Don't know the exact amount, but would be around 40. Few clarifications:
              - This was 'critical' faults within the first 12 months of purchase, things like a noisy fan doesn't count.
              - Only laptops (so not sure about HP's desktops/all in ones or Omen range)
              - HP was able to fix some of the 65% and their warranty/return was relatively quick

Afaik they don't (or didn't at the time) have on-site warranty, or the higher ups stupidly didn't opt in.

My advice: avoid any that have names like the one listed above "HP LAPTOP 15S-FQ2600". Maybe the other more "premium" lineups are still okay but these types are plagued with issues.

  • Big screen, not a gaming machine.

    • Minesweeper will look great on that 17.3" screen :)

Jokes aside, this can probably run older or eSports titles but if gaming is your primary purpose definitely get a gaming laptop with discrete graphics.

    • PS 5 is gaming machine and cheaper than this

Plus LG C1 OLED to play it.

        Laptop now cheaper 😀

        • i dont need to have high spec TV. my old TV can still play for it and i dont need 4 K

  • Recently looking at replacing my ASUS - bought it in 2014 - old i7 - with 1TB / 8G RAM - DVD drive - that's still going with no issues (except almost leaving it behind in the Bangkok outbound bag scanning area - and running back thru two terminals to get it back) .

Strange how it's only the processor that has really changed.

Anyway - just grabbed one of the 17in i7s - think it's time to update - 1TB with 512SSD (might have grabbed the last one) .
