FML I bought last week for $280.

    • I almost bought for $329 from jb just now, thankfully I did a quick google

  • Is this compatible with Australian, I recall the imports required some stuffing around to work with Australian doorbells?

    • Given that the model number is: GA01318-AU (AU on the end, I would assume it's the Australian model?)

      • Same model sold in jb

    • Does different countries have different types of doorbells? How does this work?

It says "Sold and delivered by F Digital (Shipped from Overseas)"

How sure are we it's the AU model they're claiming?

  • Thanks, I've ordered one.

  • Thanks! Picked one up too.

  • Thanks, got one!

  • Looks like this needs a subscription if there is a need for recorded footage.

Has anyone had experience with recording to a NVR or other method of keeping the storage local and not resort to paying an additional subscription fee?
Happy to look into another bell if there is something that does all this at a relatively reasonable (<$300) price. Thanks.

My understanding is that it only records to google cloud (Your google account) not to local storage like a NAS or NVR.
There is 3 hours of free recording, but that's not 3 hours of video, more like any footage captured over the last 3 hours for free.
You can upgrade your google account to enable more recording up to 30 days i think.

If you want local recording, better check the eufy one. I have been tossing between the two for a while, convenience of google ecosystem won the battle

Good move. EUFY products are a nightmare with any kind of smart home automation.

        • Someone below said eufy is better. So which one is better? Google or Eufy?

          • @LeVuHoang: both have advantages/disvantages.

Eufy has local storage and therefore no need for cloud or subscription (though is available for more functionality IIRC). It connects to google for automation but the responsiveness, according with the reviews, is pretty bad (like video feed taking 10+ seconds to show up). I do have the smartlock and works well but not perfect, and I can't connect it with home assistant.

Google has the google perks, integration with the google ecosystem hubs etc (though someone said is only good if you cable it). In the downside if you want it as security and not as just a camera you would need to pay subscription. Even with subscription it only records events and not constant recording. It has all the google AI behind it too, included in camera/dynamic range and smart detection, like package detection or known faces (I expect it to be good, though i haven't check reviews about it).

I've got the doorbell, the floodlight camera, and one of those motorised cameras. I've mucked about with all sorts of HA software, and it's just a no go (various success with packages, but overall, I can't get a live-stream). I also have them connected to my Google display and it's 10-15 seconds to connect. So yeh, great with their app, but nothing else.

I shopping for a doorbell and ruled out nest doorbell for the same reason. I have shortlisted Eufy 2k with Homebase as of now ,waiting for a deal

This sucks if you don't have subscription as you can only view the last 3 hours of events. Anything older than that will be automatically deleted. Battery also is not that good compared to my 1st generation ring doorbell. I also don't get a consistent announcement in my JBL Linkview, Nest mini and nest home hub. Also phone notification is inconsistent and super delayed.

If you want to record to NVR or Synology, you can try AMCREST AD110. This needs to be hardwired as it can record 24/7

Perfect! This is almost exactly what I was looking for. Thanks to all for your input.
Now if only there was one with ethernet, may be I'm asking for too much.

  • Warranty?

    • Yes, please.

  • Awesome price, got one. Thanks OP!

  • I would prefer a cabled permanently powered version. Can’t find one anywhere, only the old model.

    • Not out yet from what I know. Nest year at some stage as I'm waiting for the same.

This can be hard-wired. It has terminals at the back (plus instructions in the setup) for hard-wiring a power supply.

It's called battery, but it should be called battery with optional hardwire (wire not included).

      Source: have this device.

  • Great price!

  • 100% you need to get this wired otherwise the product doesn't work very well. I had this on battery for the first two weeks. There is a noticeable lag when someone rings the bell to the notifications on your Nest Hubs. At times it takes 5-7 seconds for the video to appear on the Hubs. Sometimes video won't even stream and it's just black.

Hooking this up to hardwire, resolves most of these issues. Fortunately. I nearly gave up on Nest.

100% recommend Eufy if you don't need Nest Hub integration. Their products are painless.

Thought I would add mine arrived 2 days ago and it's working fine. Need to install it but we set it up and all going good. Thanks again for the deal, OP.
