Saw this on Facebook. Probably due to the GTX 680 releasing tomorrow, but signs are pointing to that being >$600: http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=gtx+680&spos=3

Rumours so far say the pricing for the GTX 680 will be around $500 USD MSRP in the States. It's usually common in Australia to have a high initial price gouge period however this usually subsides after a month or so once there are adequate levels of stock available

Yeah, the HD 7970 had an MSRP of $550 or so and was selling at $700 when it launched here. It's pretty ridiculous.

    • Thanks for the heads up. I'll hold out a bit longer :)

Looking forward to the release of the next gen cards and price drop of the older cards - SLI time for my 570!

    • I can't even understand how more than one current gen card can actually fit into a PC case smaller than a fridge. My single 570 is just about too big for my HAF X case…

Current gen cards like the 580/570/560 are no longer than the high end cards from two generations ago :)
I have a GTX 570 in my PC and the whole case is only 32cm high, 36cm long and 18cm wide…far smaller than a fridge!

  • It is a cheap price, but yeah new cards are coming out very soon.

  • Didn't even realise the GTX680 was this close!

  • The 580 rocks.

  • Whilst I believe that the 680 will be a big leap up however $399 is getting near to a mid range price for what in the 580 will still be a fast card. If you are okay with not having the latest and greatest then this is a good buy.
