The real fail is you for not checking network coverage.

      • Lol nicely said

      • +10

You can relay on their maps, i'm victim of their poor signal strength, which not only degrades their voice quatily also kills battery

      • +1

It still pales in comparison to boost
Currently porting out to kogan (vodafone)
Speeds I'd say are more responsive/faster than telstra

        Reception is sub standard

        Vodafone is still lagging optus

    • +3

I can't agree with you more. Only get this if you know you are getting a decent connection and If your hermit crab who don't move around much. Else at least get optus. Vodafone sux donkey balls.

Vodafail days are a looong time ago now. I have never really had a problem with Vodafone in metro areas for many years now, but of course outside of metro you need to be very careful who you select as it can vary greatly. I get over 200mbps on vodafone 4G where i live and work (similar with optus and telstra). That said, i have had a few problems when travelling to regional areas (mudgee, south coast nsw, byron, port douglas etc) in past years, but i always knew that was a possibility by not paying the Telstra premium. I've had issues at times on Optus (amaysim) as well and other brands i've cycled through and forgotten about. All these things change A LOT over time though as networks introduce and move around spectrum (i recall reading that vodafone got more from merging with tpg?), upgrade transmission etc. But then again it's easier to just ignore these things and throw anecdotal poop about.

I think most of us learnt long ago mobile brand loyalty is for suckers. Check which networks suit your circumstances and milk the best bang for buck offer you can find. But to imply your experience is the experience is nonsense.

        • +1

You were silly if you were loyal to a brand anyway

    • +2

Depends on your location. At my place, Telstra sucks. Optus best and then Voda.

  • Damn. Just bought their $150 pack on special.

  • +4

Ironically, my phone with Vodafone has no signal in Costco Lidcombe, just next to where they put the Vodafone sim cards.

    • +3

A giant metal faraday cage tends to do that.

Does this plan support esim and wifi calling?

    • +1

Vodafone Wi-Fi Calling is not available to customers on prepaid plans.
      https://www.vodafone.com.au/support/device/wi-fi-calling

    • +2

I'm on the $250 prepaid pack. Can confirm being able to switch to esim on the app and also have wifi calling.

      • Really? Have you tried turning on airplane mode and make a call? If it goes through then Wifi calling is available. Mine still doesn’t have it.

        • My bad. I had the Wifi calling function turned on and thought that was all. Have tried and no wifi calling through airplane mode then. It has 5G though. Chewed through 300ish MB for a speed test.

      • Damn. I just bought the Apple Watch wifi only

        • You have 14 days to return for a refund.

        • what's wrong with purchasing the wifi model in this case?

          • @Neis: Overall cellular isn’t something I needed, also the fact it’s an extra $5 per month was off putting.
            It’s still kinda cool though

            • @[Deactivated]: can only use a cellular watch on a postpaid plan, not on prepaid.

              • @Neis: Thanks for the tip. I feel at ease

      • +2

My $250, 150gb vodafone prepaid sim does not work with wifi calling, I have a Samsung S21, I have wifi calling enabled on the phone, but no go. I tried calling support and they said prepaid sim = no wifi calling.

    • Wifi calling is now available for prepaid

  • +1

When is the latest it can be activated by? Thanks

  • +1

    5G?

    • -5

You've got to be kidding right? No chance

      • +4

I think there is a possibility it may be 5G.

    • +2

This $199 prepaid plan isn’t showing up on the Vodafone website so I’d guess that this plan doesn’t include 5G. If you want 5G, Vodafone’s currently got the $250 starter pack discounted to $150 for 150GB over 365 days!

      • +2

        112.50 after 25% CB.

      • +1

Still beats Telstra who doesn’t have it on any prepaid plans

        • +1

Telstra does only on the $60/month prepaid recharge. They’re bleeding everyone for 5G - anything to increase ARPU.

      • +1

Pretty sure all of Vodafone's prepaid deals are on their (extremely tiny) 5g network.

      • +1

This is the same as $250 Starter Pack, but with bonus 90GB and Included international calls, then discounted to $199.99 normally at Costco, and further discounted to $169.99 for this catalogue.

    • +1

I get no G with Vodafone lol

    • +2

Confirmed with live chat, all plans including prepaid give you access to the Voda 5G network.

      • Thank you!

    • +1

      Yes this supports 5G.

  • Make sure to check the coverage map on the Vodafone website.

All carriers are now decommissioning some 3G frequencies to make room for 5G, so the whole 'Telstra is king' may no longer apply. Optus has significantly caught up and Vodafone is not as bad as it used be. This also depends on your devices.

It is easy to say Vodafail and so forth but coverage has changed dramatically recently so once again, check your coverage maps and ask your mates what their coverage is like if you have any.

  • +1

This has international calls and extra 90GB data. If you don’t need those, just get the pack on Voda website. $112.50 after CB.

    • I can't find this plan in vodafone site

      • The $250 plan on Voda site has only 150GB and 50 international texts.

  • -4

15% off. Thanks for wasting my time :)

  • Been having problems with Kogan barely been able to download in Melbourne metro, speedtest gave me 2Mbps download, 0.03 Mbps upload, but most time speedtest could not be completed at all.

  • -4

I wouldn't take it if they gave it away for free Vodafone network is so bad

  • Since Boost has increased their price to $200 from $150 this seems to be a good deal.

Given the recent price increase, if Boost is unable to offer 5G or eSim, I suspect many will start moving over to other plans.

    • +1

$200 pack usually on sale for $154.

      • Usually for new port in but some have had luck using the new sim pack for recharging.

  • Just took this post topic as an opportunity to change my Optus $39 monthly plan into $150 prepaid plan from Optus with 100GB for one year. 40 bucks always seemed like insanity to me, I barely use my 10GB monthly data

  • +1

Just went to my local Costco store at Bundamba and they also have the 6-month expiry plan 100 Gb for $99.99, hopefully it will be on sale too.

    6 month expiry
    12 month expiry

    • I don’t believe it is on sale. However $99.99 with 100GB and some international calls for what is normally (elsewhere) $150 with 80GB and no international calls is still a nice deal.

  • +1

Too risky. Maps are wrong. Outside of sydney map showed 4g data no issues. Get a great deal only to have zero data access. Call up and yep, confirmed no data in area. Apparently they have an internal system that shows actual coverage.

Unless in heart of capital city id stay away.

Disgruntled? Yep, that was a 2 week pita process of port in, trouble shoot and port out and then getting the refund was another story!

  • Instore only?

  • Anyone knows when have to activate it by?

    • 365 days.

  • This is now cheaper than Kogan, with additional International calls. Win

  • What's the cheapest way to get a Voda 5G sim card to test the network? Don't want to jump ship without a check first.

    • +3

The $40 pack is on sale for $14.

      • Great thanks!

  • -1

    worst company ever

  • It show 150gb data only for 365 days instead of 240gb while I trying to activate the Sim.

    • You get bonus 90gb data after activation

    • Hi, Did you get the 240GB? I tried to activate it yesterday and had the same issue.

      • I talked to live chat and they said bonus data be applied within 24 hrs.
