I paid not much less for the 2x8GB kit a little over a year ago. This is an outstanding price…

  • Want to upgrade a Dell XPS 8940 from last years deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/584484). Better with 32Gb of this, or the 64Gb for about the same from the other deal today - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/661785 ? Have three screens, a bit of gaming and streaming going, and 16Gb falls a bit short. Any suggestions or wait for something else from a Black Friday deal? This is a great price but perhaps overkill…

    • 32GB is fine for a triple monitor setup. You should check your motherboard's compatibility with XMP

  • Cheers OP! Glad I waited around for a good discount, came to $327 which incl 9.90 delivery and a 1% surcharge? Not complaining, great price for tight af cl16 b-die!

  • Bargain. Think I paid 380 last year.

  • $339 at MSY

    • Not certain those are B die though, for those playing at home.

The model ending in N have the 16-16-16-36 timings, those are Samsung B die's. Be careful with the models ending in R or C those are Hynix.

Waiting on umart to get more stock of the 2 x 8 GB modules.

    • +3

the MSY model shows F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC which indicates 16-19-19-39 timing which is worse much much less than B die

      • Yep, those are definitely Hynix, Samsung OC much better.

ahh the B die would explain it. Cheers all for clarifying this.

Would anyone with high PC parts knowledge know if it is worth me upgrading and swapping out my current ram which is:
    https://www.mwave.com.au/product/team-tforce-delta-rgb-serie…

    DDR4 3600MHz CL18-22-22-42

Obviously the CL timings are better with the G Skill but is it worth the upgrade? Happy to shell out if it will boost gaming frame rates decently
    I run a Ryzen 9 5900x if that helps

    • +2

I don't think you'd see more than a 5% difference at most. And getting new ram always runs the risk of the new parts having issues.

      • Thanks mate, not really worth the minisule gains in that case.
Seems to be diminishing returns after a certain point

        • You could probably OC the Gskill to 4000 at CL16 with slightly looser secondary timings, which would then be a gain. I'd suggest the differences would be closer to 10% actually, but it depends on what your current setup is (dual rank?) and how much money you have to play with. You can see anywhere between 4-10% differences just from dual ranking RAM with the ryzen 5000 series.

      • 5% maybe at 1080P on a RTX3090 or RX6900XT

        3600CL 16 to 3600CL 18..on a mid range GPU it would be 1%

  • LOL of coarse they go on sale 2.5 weeks after I buy them from shopping express.
