  • Anyone have any experience with this brand?

  • where to get install after delivery ?

    Based on this thread: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/606594

"These are rebadged TCL air conditioners - it has not much to do with Hyundai, Kogan just licensed the brand.

The Kogan units are OEMed by Midea / GMCC while the Hyundai branded units are OEMed by TCL - both are imported and distributed by Kogan.

TCL is also the OEM for Euromatic (split system), AKAI and Stirling.
Midea / GMCC is the OEM for Carrier and Kelvinator."

Not sure if this is worth it or add a few hundred dollars for a Carrier with 7years warranty - especially since installation is more expensive than the product.

    • A cheap back-to-back installation is ~$500 in Melbourne. Where is the installation more expensive than the product, so $919? Can it get that expensive for more complicated setups or different towns?

      • The quotes Ive been getting are like 900ish already for this size. Can you recommend an installer for that price?

        • My bad, the $500 one was for a smaller (2-3kW?) one.

          • @pizzaguy: Bunnings just quoted me 1k for a 2.5kw install in an apartment. Where are you getting these cheaper quotes from?

      • Large splits required a dedicated circuit from fuse-box to the isolator switch.
That would be that main reason for higher install cost of a larger unit.
If the circuit is already there, there is little difference in parts cost or time.

Vacuum pump, gauges and hoses $130 on ebay:

Please suggest reasons why Pakistan build is different in Korean

Or this the point of the OP post, that there is no practical difference?

    • It's all about perceived perception i think.

      • +1

        perceived perception

The same perception that we sense?

    • Quality control.

Sorry could someone explain to me the specs of a air-conditioner, how it works ?

It's a 7.2kwh air-conditioner, but looking under specs it says:

    Cooling Power 2.6kW
    Power Input Cooling 1900W
    Power Input Heating 1700W

    • +2

Not sure about the 2.6kW - I assumed that might be cooling capability which is often below heating capability but later it specifies both heating and cooling in BTUs and it's about 7kW for both.

The 2 input numbers are power (electricity) consumption as opposed to the heat transfer.

Also, most importantly, I'd never buy from Kogan.

        Hi afoveht,

        Thanks for the explanation :)

Yeah think I'll stick with a Mitsubishi that I was planning on getting from Bunnings.

    • +1

Typical 7kW aircond would produced 7kW Cooling and 8kW Heating

I rather buy from local shop with peace of mind

    • you pay for 7.2kw of energy but only get 2.6kw worth of cooling?!

      • obviously no.

      • It's the reverse. Heat pumps provide better than 100% efficiency.

  • how do you claim warranty for this product? who do you call?

    • +6

If its Kogan oh my gosh

      • +3

I looked at the manual and it says Kogan, no number or email just says to go to help.kogan.com, and when I go there I see nothing about this aircon. I recently had warranty calls for 2 aircons, Haier and LG ,both around 4 years old and was a straight forward experience. Imagine if it was Hyundai I'd be stuck.

      • Speaking from my own experience i have good experience claiming warranty from kogan. The Kogan dish washer broke down twice. They sent a technician on the first and fix it but broke down again. The second time a different technician rang me saying they will pick it up without even looking at it. I got a new replacement. Only issue is kogan product is not lasting but work quite well for its price.

      Ghostbusters!

Never spend tons of money building cheap stuff into your house.

  • +3

Don't bother. Do you really want to be sitting there in your jocks infront of a pedestal fan when this breaks and it's 40degrees emailing kogan back and forth? Buy a tried and tested brand and never worry about it again.

Made in Pakistan? Hope it doesn't e*****e

    • Don't be ridiculous mate. That's only a risk if you show it disrespectful picture or cartoons of the prophet Kelvinator.

      • +1

or if you burn the manual.

  • Don’t this to yourself. Go get a locally supported brand with 5 year warranty. For couple of hundred dollars it is not worth the hassle of finding someone to come and fix it for you. And gets worse when you cannot find the parts and need to order them from another country.
