How are the cameras on these phones?

    • +2

Average. Not bad for the price though. If you're after a better camera, the Xiaomi Redmi note 10 pro has a better camera as does the Poco F3.

    • +4

The cameras are just ok. In good lighting the photos are decent but results are subpar in low lighting, even using Gcam (although that is an improvement over the stock camera app). If a good camera is important then I'd probably look to another phone. Not much to criticise elsewhere though - a very good phone for the price.

I take photos of the aurora and Milky way with my dslr. I bought this phone for its camera. The camera is awesome, to the point that I can taken 30 second exposures of the night sky with it.
My wife has my old phone, a Samsung s9+. We consider photos of both of these to be on par.
The poco has wide, normal and zoom lenses. NFC that I used daily, band 28, All for $300 . I get 2days out of the Battery, heavy user, if I put it on max battery save overnight. It runs all my favourite apps from Google store. Don't underestimate the value of this phone and it's camera

Bruh this comment makes me excited. Mine should arrive in 2 weeks or so! Bought this phone just because I am curious about it. My current Honor View 10 is still going strong but I want to see what new phone tech is like :)

      • Just verifying: you like the Xiaomi Redmi note 10 pro, Poco 3 camera, or the POCO X3 Pro?

It's hard to tell who/what you're referring to when you write, "I bought this phone for its camera.".

Which did you buy & recommend?

        • I'm discussing the phone that this whole discussion is about. The phone is the poco x3 pro. I've had the 6gb version for well over 12 months now.

          • @desfromoz: I think this is the first post I've seen rating the camera so highly. Most say it's the weak link in an otherwise great phone and given you're comparing the quality of it to a phone from 2018, it doesn't make a lot of sense for the camera to be exceptional.

          • @desfromoz: The phone was released 8 months ago - March 2021.

        • +1

Just checked. Mine is the Poco X3 NFC. Purchased Sept 2020. My apologies if the X3 pro is different.

Good comparison of the X3 NFC vs X3 Pro cameras.

      • Thank you!

  • Man I'm in the market to upgrade my Mi 9T and the sheer volume of Xiaomi phones out there right now is cray cray….. I'm settling on the Mi 11 Lite NE 5g but these are supposed to be good too and that's a great price……

    • +1

i don't suppose you've considered a custom rom for your 9t? mines still going strong

      • +1

No, I'm not much into rooting phones, I'm not that into the faff of it all. Tbf there's nothing really wrong with my mi9t but it's almost exactly 2 years old and I wouldn't mind a bit of a refresh.

I just use my phone mostly for consuming Netflix so looking for something with a decent screen mostly.

        • Pretty sure Mi 9T Pro has an AMOLED screen with like 60hz, difference in refresh rate isn't going to be noticeable in Netflix surely?

          • @reloxation: Oh yeah you're probably right. Like I said I'm more just after a refresh. At these prices why not? Like if I was dealing with 1k+ phones I'd be holding on :D

            • +4

@Willywolfy: Bad for the environment, unnecessary waste, etc, but a good deal is a good deal!

          • +3

@reloxation: This incessant upgrading is tiresome. I'm happy with my LG v30 but the battery doesn't last a full day now with around 5-6 hrs SoT. Its the first phone I've considered replacing the battery manually as it will be obsolete in a few years anyway!

            • +2

@Skinnerr: Agreed. My next phone will be a PinePhone or something similar, tired of having unreplaceable parts. Gonna use this Mi 9T Pro until it dies

            • @Skinnerr: My v30's fingerprint scanner just stopped working recently and I got it on black friday 2019. I couldn't find a reliable way to fix it and the now abysmal battery life is really making me want to upgrade.

        • +1

I went from a mi 9t to this. Screen slightly worse when it comes to colour richness and daylight brightness. Literally everything else is better.

If you want the screen and the speed go the F3.

      • +3

Same here. Degoogled ArrowOS works like a charm

  • Google pay works?

    • +1

Yep, I use tap and pay daily.

      • I've got the X3 NFC, not the X3 Pro.

    • Yes, works fine even with custom ROM.

    • Will work fine on stock ROM. Some custom ROMs get it working but Google tries to prevent this with Safetynet, workarounds exist but get patched, new workarounds are developed etc… personally not my cup of tea.

  • +1

The aliexpress singles day promo starts tomorrow, so i'll see the price of that first.

  • Banggood provides one warranty and Amazon provides 2 years?

  • I bought the redmi note 10 pro full of issues software / hardware mic problems / call problems / static on calls software is garbage have requested a refund

I would be very skepticial of buying xiaomi in future that's just my experience so far the hardware for price is amazing but pointless if it don't work properly and can't do the basic functions of a phone

    • Interested to know reviews of others who have used either this or Redmi Note 10 Pro phone. I have used only one Xiaomi phone (MiA1) in the past and my experience has been great. Can't say if it's due to Android One to some extent.

      • It's just Xiaomi being Xiaomi, their production cycle is so fast that quite a few of their phones end up buggy, for a long while too.

I helped a friend of mine get one of these. I don't think he had issues with it yet

    • That's a shame. Most of my recent phones and that of my missus have been xiaomi phones of all variants (redmi notes, mia2 mi 10 lite, mi 9t. I will say Miui can be an almighty pain in the hole at times, trying to find some setting locked away in some obscure place but it's definitely gotten much better and I've never had any deal breaking issues with any of them.

    • That's unfortunate. Good thing is that these phones are pretty cheap so I won't feel too bad if they break down and give out. I had a brand new Nexus 5 just die on me years ago which was a bit sad…

      • +1

Still have my working Nexus 5 in my drawer as a back up phone, and currently using my Nexus 6P soon to be replaced by a Pixel 6 Pro.

    • Don't forget the ads in built in apps.

I'll never buy Xiaomi mobile again.

      • Easy to disable them all…

        • How?

          • @JH100: Plenty of videos on youtube, just search for "disable ads on miui 12"

  • +1

Very tempting phone and reviews seem to be 👍 but I would like to upgrade to 5G in the near future so can't decide. But if you're happy with 4G then this is a good option.

    • Definitely want 5g if buying today

      • +2

        Why?

        • Cloud gaming and console streaming is probably 1 of the main reasons at the moment.

    • Get poco f3 then

  • +3

make the 8/256 sub $300 and I will buy.

  • +1

Very temping, but waiting for a deal on the F3 8gb.

    • Let me know if you find one .

    • F3 6g for $423 ok Amazon

    • Have had my F2 Pro back to HK twice & its died a fourth time yet again (now outside warranty). The (now) well known charging issue. Staying clear of these.

  • +1

alright folks get your crystal balls out… do we think this is gonna get cheaper? is it worth waiting for black friday?

    • I checked and it told me more lockdowns are coming 😩

  • How long do you need to wait for the shipping? One or two months?

    • +1

That´s the real problem I think. Got mine sent on the 2nd of Nov, but there was people who bought it mid October that are still waiting…

    • People on Whirlpool are saying they got theirs after 2 weeks.

  • +2

Was checking for issues with this phone and found this.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwXlW4I6PDw

  • 8/256Gb model comes out to be $318 if paid in AUD. Do we know how long before they arrive? Their page says 10-11th Dec but wanna know if they do get delivered within this time-frame?

    • You should get it within a month, maybe earlier. Also how are you getting $318 AUD? cheapest i can get is $323

      • So if you check the HK version simply by opening Bangood website it shows price as $328 AUD. Add to cart this HK version & then apply the 8/256gb coupon (BGb8f368) mentioned above by OP. The price drops to $318. If you are a new user Bangood offers you another $2 voucher, bringing total price down to $316.

  • Can anyone confirm if we have to pay any import taxes on this phone when arriving in Australia? Some reviewers have mentioned about being taxed "import duty" for other countries on the Bangood website (under reviews section). Amazon UK 6/128gb deal posted few days ago doesnt have any such issue with import duty, but unsure about buying from website such as Bangood (HK). Please confirm if anyone has received any phones previously & faced any such situation?

    • +2

From what I've researched around Ozbargain I havent seen any mention about paying import duty, so you should be good on that front.

  • Does anyone know how to get tax invoice from Banggood? It doesn't come with the phone.

    • +1

Desktop site under order details click on print invoice.

  • Received mine today.

    • From this deal?

  • Just tried buying both (6GB after 8GB failed)- get "Invalid Coupon Code" for both codes, looks expired.
