I've had covid so that means my immunity is stronger, broader and longer lasting than any vaxxed. Can I still get 5G?

    • +3

No! minimum required is single covid chip, double chipped people get 4/4 bars in all covid hotspots

      • +1

        What is COVID chip?

        • It’s err what they inject you with when you go get a Covid vaccine. Apparently it gives you 5g or brainwashes you

Optus have offered this deal for over a year. First they pretended it was the "Optus One" plan, but that got removed and it was rebranded as a promo plan.
Still the same 12 months discount from $115 to $65 for 12 months.

Even though the last "deal" for this shows as expired, Optus keeps bringing it back, including a very recent comment saying it is back for click frenzy.

So if you miss out this time, very high chance it will be back.

Also not that this will only share data with other "upfront" plans and not previous (and grandfathered plans).

    • +2

It's actually not as good. They got rid of roaming inclusions.

      • +1

Yes. Exactly. This plan is worse.

    • Yes, it’s a way for Optus to get people to retire their older el cheapo plans on the same account, as they won’t share data.

  • Edit: appears to be a 12 month plan. Any idea if it came effectively be used as home internet? And fixed IPs or port forwarding available?

    • Plan is month to month.
You can leave after a month (also no pro rata on these new upfront plans so choose to leave wisely or your paying for days you wont get).

Discount is the only thing for 12 months.

CGNAT with no exceptions. So dont get your own public IP.
As for using the sim in a router - check the CIS, or add another upfront mobile broadband sim to share to that for use in a router.

We had it in a 4g sim router for 3mths as our internet (WFH & Kids) worked well.

I needed to change the default APN settings in the router (every few weeks it'd reset so I had to change it back).

I'm tempted to use this for my oldies internet as FttN in AussieBB has been appalling ABB have been fairly useless getting it sorted for over 2yrs now (internet & phone goes down for at least 7 days/mths then fighting with ABB to get NBNco out to fix is tiresome)

      • +3

Half price data Sim at the moment.
Perfect if you've got a 4g modem already.

So for $72.50 per month you get 505gb to share for home internet and one mobile.

        • Cheers mate, exactly my situation

  • +2

    Also NO overseas roaming !

    • True but many people ain't roaming overseas any more XD

  • +1

5G included if you're double vaxxed LOL

  • I can guess in a couple of years I could get 1 Tb of data for this price 😎😎😎

  • My 2nd year with Vodafone. $65-$10 = $55 for 500GB

    • Is this still available

      • Vodafone are offering 300mb for $60 (ask for at least a $5-10 monthly credit if your so inclined, all they can do is say no)

but Im guessing they will change this to 500gb $60 inc talk and text and 5G is going gangbusters in 2022!
        $85 is unlimited full speed

        • I got that plan since Oct last year (month-to-month, but the $10 bonus was only for 12 months)
This year when that discount expired, I had to chat to ask them for 12 more months.

The speed in my house is around 90Mbps off-peak, and 40-50Mbps at peak hours. After 500GB the speed is capped at 10Mbps.
Also, I considered switching to Felix if they didn't give that $10 discount.

My monthly usage is between 300-400GB, and my employer is paying $50 :)

        • I was looking at signing up to Vodafone $40. How easy was it to get them to apply the credit? Did you do it in store?

      • +1

and dont forget felix mobile $35 unlimited talk, text and 20mbs data unlimited (vodafone)

    • that was an awesome deal and if they entered it as a 99 month option you will be years on this deal ~ much to my regret for missing out

  • $65/m truly unlimited data at 5g. Unlimited international in 30odd countries.

  • I'm on optus one plan which I signed up a year ago. The 50% discount expired this month and when I went to switch to the new $65 plan, optus rep said i'm not eligible as the offer is only on new or recontract plans….

    • threaten to port away, they will re-do-it or port away, felix $35 unlimited everything, 20mbs data (vodafone) or Circle 100mb (optus) and get them to price match!

    • I didn’t change mine and discount was due to expire this month but then out of the blue i received this :

Hi Andrew, to say thanks for being with Optus, we've extended your Optus One discount of $54 off per month for your service xxxxxxxxxx until November 2022. You don't need to do anything, you'll continue to see your discount on your monthly bill. Discount forfeited if you cancel, recontract or move to another plan. N/A with other discount offers, unless we otherwise agree. Need help? Visit optus.com.au/contactus

      • I thought that plan was replaced with an Optus choice plus plan recently..

      • also got this same SMS, but they are only charging me $35.50/month for Optus One. will see if that continues next month

        • Yeah weird - i got more discount than i should too!

  • Im based in south brisbane
Was with telstra , aldi, boost, kogan….

    And now with optus
From my experience, optus is the worst one except its 5g internet

  • Add a $7.50 data sim and share the data for home internet.

    • Where can you get a $7.50 data sim with Optus? Minimum is $15…

      • 50% off deals

  • Ported my wife and I to these plans last year, and got the cheapest mobile bradband sim to go in the Orbi 4G router which is itself connected to the rest of my Orbi mesh wifi. Whole of home internet running off Optus 4G for approx $150pm. Consistent speeds of 80+ mbps peak and off peak which is far superior to ABB in my area. Ping anywhere between 15-25ms which is absolutely fine for my online gaming needs. I had hoped that 5G would have rolled out by now but there have been no new tower upgrades in the last 12 months (Geelong). This is absolutely a decent replacement for FTTN internet so long as you don't truly need unlimited access.

  • Meh
I have 3 x $75 mth unlimited Data 5G on their nokia router, free connect, no contract. Have 3 running the house and 2 other businesses. 2 of them are in 4g only areas. Gotta work their loophole. lol
Oh 4g is faster than the 5g ones. Go Figure.
Just a quick test on home 4g one. 65mbs. Not perfect, But I can throw in the car and take off to fraser, and share the internet with the whole campsite.

  • You can also get an Oppo A53s for $36 usually $250-280 if you already are on a no contract month to month plan from optus or plan to get one, $1 a month over 3 years or $3 a month over 12, i took the 12months and got my dad a new phone. It was locked but they unlocked it right away when i went through chat.

I am too tired to see if this is an offer that is around here already haha, i dont think so.
