Just a reminder that the Hitachi name is owned by a Chinese company since 2012, and their TVs are now generic low-cost models (I think same as EKO and Blaupunkt, if I'm not mistaken), but rebadged as Hitachi.

That being said, this is the lowest this TV has ever cost.

  • I believe the 75inch was this price a few months ago

    • Yep was $795 if I remember correctly

  • It would be better if it was engineered and produced by Hisense but the version we get is from a Turkish company https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vestel

    • What do you mean? Like the same Hisense U8G models we get in Australia?

    • The Hitachi tv brand is licensed to 'Tempo' in Australia, and they source their tvs from low cost Chinese manufacturers. Unfortunately we don't get the Vestel ones in Oz.

      • Tempo and Vestel are one and the same grade of company. The North American buyers are lucky as their version is made by Hisense.

I would take a tv screwed together by Vestel over a China company anyday.

Good old Bill. That's why Australia is so behind compared to all other countries. Did you still think one device was made in one country only? As with assemblying, whatever you used to type this comment was probably assembled in China.

Note I said screwed together, I didn't say made by.

Go ahead and buy it then lol

    TCL 65’ at jb for$895

  • Do good guys do price beat? Otherwise, we could do it with JB? XD

Yeah it seems they do but you have to negotiate the price in store or over the phone. I think they would just match the price and that is all.

This is from the TGG FAQ section. Product & Price sub section.

"I've seen one of your products cheaper elsewhere - do you price match?

We negotiate so you Pay Less, Every day. Head in store or call us on 1300 942 765, to discuss your pre-purchase price match.
You can find the number and address for your local store here."

    • they do. show them the online price and they will match.

I will take the Hisense instead of this.

  • Hitachi 65 inch….

  • Tempo's Lindsar 65" was $495 last month, with a $50 click and collect coupon + shop back cashback. Has been that price before as well. So I'm putting cheapo 65's in the sub $500 bracket.

I'm guessing the same TV, different badge.

    • This one has QLED panel and comes with 3 years warranty as standard. Eko range from Big W is pretty popular as well among low cost tvs and is a good overall package.
This one has specifications similar to Eko QLED model which is not on offer anymore from Big W.

  • EKO Website has energy usage stats - 220 watts.

Quite a lot, but maybe the norm for QLED? The 65" UHD use 168 watts.

My current 47" Panasonic uses 45 watts. Surprised these are 5 x more.
