  • thanks OP

Have one of these and it's great for beach or picnics

  • +4

Sign up and you get $10 off as well.

    • $20 off your next purchase over $100 now

  • +4

Have the wanderer quad one. The frame snapped after a few uses - got a replacement which seems better overall so probably the first one was a lemon. Good overall in terms of usability but not yet confident of its build quality

  • +14

Honestly, I'd rather buy this one:
    https://www.bigw.com.au/product/hinterland-camp-cart-blue/p/…

It's cheaper, and same quality. Honestly screw BCF and their longtime pattern of high/predatory pricing. Even with the extra $10 off, I say it's not worth the trouble of becoming a member (not required for BigW btw).

Salty why? Cause have been burnt by BCF before when I paid higher for a product expecting quality, only for it to turn out crap, and they made me run hoops trying to get it fixed/replaced/refunded under warranty. Still not sure how they're still in business, maybe it's the catchy Ad jingle?

    • +1

Kmart one is maybe better just not sure for weight capacity. Has a top abs everything for around $50

      • The kmart one for $49 is tops. Have taken it to the beach and also camping for walk in only sites, loaded like a mule with esky, tent, firewood, the lot…

      • We just bought the Kmart one with the roof.
As we have a small child this roof was well worth it.
        Off memory it cost $79.
Mind you,,the box was damaged and I asked for $10 off it and got it.

    • +5

Big w and kmart ones have wheels that aren't only good on solid ground.

They're a nightmare on any sort of sand.

    • +4

I agree with you @kangal. The quality and price are a significant Mismatch for many bcf products.

You expect more from outdoor lifestyle players but they take the ….

    • +1

Agree 100% with you. It happened to me with a bike trailer. Very expensive and piss poor quality

  • +2

this or the kmart delux one?

    • Or the Costco one? Keen to see feedbacks as well.

      • costco, better return policy.

costco return policy = full refund anytime. lets say 5 years later your drunk ass loses it down the hill and gets destroyed into a million pieces, costco will take it back. lol

        • +1

Beware. Costco warranty only valid so long as you remain a member.

          • +4

@naruto128: why would you ever leave costco? i think this is a sign of early stages of psychoness

    • -1

      Yeah prob this tbh

  • Is this suitable for grocery shopping?

    • Not sure but I use the asian granny shopping carts and they seem to do well. This one might be a bit more bulky but much easier handling.

      • What is an asian granny shopping cart? Didn't know shopping carts had a race.

        • +11

I think we all know exactly what they're talking about

          • +3

@nardz: I'm picturing one of those standing up rectangles with 2 wheels on one side and 2 little stands on the other.

      • The problem with the typical granny carts is they hit you on the back of the heels. I got one from “House” that was more expensive but it was squarer and the handle longer. It works much better.

        • How? When you pull them, they angle and the wheels are a foot away from your heels. I can’t even imagine how it’s hitting your feet :/

    • Have used the blue model (not sure of any difference) several times with no issues - bonus (if you don't have steps to deal with) of being able to cart it straight from the shop to kitchen for unloading :)

  • Great! Seen some great reviews for this one.
Will try to get this one and see if I agree with the reviews.

Sorry for the basic question. But if I understood the add correctly, this will start on the 18th, right? (I can't even see them in stock at the moment).

    • According to the catalogue starts on 19.11 and finishes on 29.11

  • This looks like the older model, with the newer one folding in two directions?

  • +2

Looks identical to the Tahwalhi one that I have. It's had a fair amount of use transporting groceries from the car to the apartment (and pulling the kids around).

Would definitely recommend at this price.

    • +9

Rebel & BCF = Super Retail Group
      Wanderer = bcf house brand
      Tahwalhi = Rebel house brand
It will be identical except for colour/branding

      • I figured there was a connection - I noticed BCF sell some Tahwalhi branded gear as well.

        • +2

Yep they also sell Macpac gear as well, which is the house brand of Macpac (formerly Ray's outdoors) and Supercheap Auto (Ridge Ryder for outdoor stuff) also fall under the Super Retail Group flag. You'll often find exactly the same thing under a different label or even like you've discovered some house branding intermingling.

  • +1

Time to use the cart bought back in March this year, lol https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/608852

    • You've probably saved me $89. I don't really ever go to the beach anyway lol. But they look so cool

  • +1

Got this from Kmart pretty good and heels of space
    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/foldable-beach-trolley-with…

    • How does it go on sand?

    • How is this one on sand as this is main reason for getting one, there is no mention of beach in it's name yet there other one has beach within its name.

      • Yeah good does what it suppose to do. No issues there as of yet.

  • Need to buy one ASAP, but unsure which has the best wheels for hard surfaces and sand as well.

  • Completely different use case and much more expensive, but i got a Gorilla Cart from Bunnings for moving stuff around the backyard (instead of wheelbarrow) and its bloody fantastic.

    • We are moving to a house next to the beach and I've been looking at these for all the beach gear - they look durable!

      • Definitely. And in almost every way better and easier than a wheelbarrow for an added bonus.

  • Just bought the Anaconda “ We Love Summer Beach Wagon” over the weekend.

    To return it?

    https://www.anacondastores.com/water-sports/beach-surf/beach…

    • Why? Looks the same and same price.

  • -4

Do they have a hybrid or electric model? I am worried about climate change impacts.

  • Been hanging out for a deal on this exact cart for ages - but just checked on BCF’s website and there’s no stock in any of my 10 nearest stores which covers most of Brisbane…….

Oh and it’s noted as being unavailable for delivery.

Let’s see if they actually get any stock in before the catalogue starts

    • Check the blue ones, the red ones didn't have any

  • I strongly recommend the one from Costco. Best quality at $89

  • For everyone else in Melbourne a sledge would be more useful the way we're going with weather this winter… pardon me… this late spring.

    • I tend to agree, we’ve had to retreat back into our snug. However, given the rain I think a raft might be more useful. It’s, still, better than multiple 40 degree days.

  • +1

I have the exact same one, used it for the first time today on a family picnic. Very easy to steer and manoeuvre ( today we used it over sand, gravel and grass). Filled it up with two wanderer chairs, cooler bag, beach tent, some towels on top.

Packing up it folds in half and fit nicely in the back of car ( Kia Sorento). Wheels do come off but I kept them on as it didn't take up much space. Though did take them off once I got home to hose it down.

I'm very happy with it, granted I've only used it once so far.

    What a ripoff

  • +1

    Can recommend.

I have one of these and I use it to take kids to beach…

2yo + 4yo + beach bag (towels, water bottles, nappies, change of clothes, snacks etc etc).. also kids plastic buckets and spades.

Easy over sand.. can pull up on sand dunes, though takes some effort and wouldnt recommend doing it in thongs (had a blow out lol)

  • I have one it’s excellent. Nice wide wheels for the sand. Good luck with either the big w one or Kmart one on the beach. I’ve caused major marriage issues between people in the beach as I leisurely stroll past with one of these and the wheels merrily rolling in top of the sand, passing someone who is dragging a narrow wheeled cart through the sand only for one of them to pipe up “why didn’t we get the one with the big wheels?”

    • the kmart deluxe one got pretty wide wheels from the pic

  • +1

I just bought this pack from Kathmandu. The trolley is normally $259rrp but got the whole lot for $250. If you use them on the beach then the larger wheels are a godsend and it's quadfold so space saving too. Other benefits with a quadfold on the beach is that front and rear wheels are even so it doesn't tip easy like the offset wheels. Edit, sorry looks like it expired yesterday. Could always call story to see if they will honour it. https://www.kathmandu.com.au/bundle?j=6109344&&sfmc_sub=2014…

  • +3

What's the best one for beach use was thinking kmart deluxe one but some say great on beach others say not are the deluxe and the non deluxe reviews mixed up as dont get why some say great for beach and other's say not.

    • on the same boat here,i'd say they might refer to the $59 one where duluxe one got wider wheels and should be good on beach

  • Got this from mitre 10 -
    https://www.mitre10.com.au/gorilla-carts-collapsible-folding…
    though a bit pricey

    • +1

Ever tried in a soft sand beach?

Judging by the pictures, the wheels seem a bit narrow for that.

  • +1

Hey @cska2005. Was this in the "Black Friday" Catalog?

    I can't see it here :(
    https://www.bcf.com.au/read-catalogue#view=catalogue&saleId=…

I could find the product with the price you mentioned on the website but has a nice infinite loop on the page, saying:

"Unable to deliver, this product can only be collected in a store."

    And

"Unavailable for quick and collect, this product is only available through delivery"

    Hahahah

    • +1

I can only see the blue cart and the cover for the red cart available online…

      • Same here.
Will try to go to a BCF store to check if they have it in stock (WA).

    • Yep, was in their latest catalogue

  • I still cant believe these are more than $25…

    • Surely not $170 ??? April 1st?

      • The is is the camping one. The "deal" (if they actually had any stock) is for the Beach one.

  • Full price :-(

    • +2

Showing $89 for club members now.

      • Nope .. still full price, may be special for a state only ? I am in Vic..

        • I’m in Vic

          • +1

@sween64: Okay … figured it out… It's red colour on sale… They don't give you option to choose colour, but in search it defaults to blue which is full price..

  • What do you folks recommend for taking your shopping bags from the boot to your unit in large apartment buidings? I hate doing multiple trips back and forth.

  • -1
  • What about this one from REPCO that’s 30% off? https://www.repco.com.au/en/4x4-adventure-escape/travel-tour…

  • I can see the price is now at $89, however The Add to Cart button is greyed out for me, Delivery shows "Unavailable for delivery" and Click and Collect shows "Unavailable for click and collect"

Have they sold out already perhaps?

  • +3

I called the Bayswater store in VIC and apparently the container load of the carts got delayed and so there's none available but he got my details down and will call when it arrives into the store, hope that helps anyone who is still keen on it.

    • Seems like you're right. Website says this when you search for "cart"

      We're so sorry!
We have a small delay in the supply of 'Wanderer Rugged Cart - Red - 579915'. Stock will be with us very soon, please check again soon.

    • +1

Was watching it since last night. Nothing. Will you still get the promo price though?

      • I called the shop in Auburn and they don't know yet if it will be on sale once they get stock.
Couldn't say when it would be in stock either.

      • Yes, that's the main question.

Quite an odd promo if no one can get it

      • +2

According to the guy that I spoke to, he said yes I will be paying the discounted price when it arrives.

  • Would this consume a lot of space in your trunk?
