have one, use it when we go to the beach, and i also used it for carting plants back from a local nursery. the kids love it, but its bulky and hard to store, we have a kmart one (not the one in the link, not sure if they sell it anymore). but we love it

    • what do the kids use it for?

we have a kmart one (not the one in the link, not sure if they sell it anymore)

there's 2 kmart ones up there at the moment

      it's not either?

      • +1

ah, the deluxe one. and our kids sit in it when we are walking to the beach.

        • i love mine so much
          (my deluxe wagon that is!)

        • Is the deluxe one good for the beach?

  • +1

I got the Wanderer from Macpac for $100. Pretty good so far. Can lug my 5 year old in it when he’s too lazy to walk

    • they're definitely not sold as kid movers, and i don't know how safe it is in our cotton wool world, but i see people do it all the time, looks like heaps of fun

      this lady added a seatbelt

I was thinking about this earlier. When I was growing up, I lived on a hill and we used to sit on skateboards/bikes/roller skates and roll down the hill. We used to go pretty fast, and no helmet or any other protection was worn.

Now as a dad, I would never let my kid do that!!

A poll may have been handy.

The Wanderer Rugged and Tahwalhi Rugged are the same. We have the Tahwalhi.

The Kmart Deluxe seems to get good feedback.

    • A poll may have been handy.

      doh of course

      there you go, added

      • i don't seem to be able to add extra options to the poll as i find them…

        • thank you kindly moderator hamza23 for adding more options to the poll

We have the BCF quad fold. Only got it late Feb. happy with it so far. Good quality, easy to pull, fits the kids and a heap of crap. I like that it folds smaller so easier to store.

    • can you fit the kids and the heap of crap at the same time or do you need two trips?

      • +1

Yep, you can. My kids are only small though, 1 and 3. The quad fold is 15cm wider than the red wanderer cart from BCF.

I got one about 5 or so years ago from a deal here after eying the Kathmandu Maison for about a year and waiting for a sale that came too late. Can't remember where it's from, maybe SCA, was around $60. Has a bar (like a trolley) rather than a handle, and super fat wheels. I use it all the time at the beach and when car camping when the car is more than 10m from the tent - with a couple of ratchet straps can take a family load of stuff at once. Also great for collecting firewood.

I usually like to price things by use rather than initial cost - at the moment it's surely at less then a buck per use.

I used to feel smart and special with this thing - now it seems everyone is getting one and I'm just a commoner again.

    • I usually like to price things by use rather than initial cost - at the moment it's surely at less then a buck per use.

that's a good idea, i should do that
i know someone who justifies designer clothing purchases that way

I used to feel smart and special with this thing - now it seems everyone is getting one and I'm just a commoner again.

you must be cool; that's what happens to cool people. you just need to find the next thing 5 years ahead of your time.

  • +1

    I have 3

why? well, I sexually identify as a giant and I use one for each leg as rollerskates. why do I rollerskate? mainly because I can't get insurance + its a nightmare if I accidentally rear-end someone.

  • +1

Costco when it went on sale for $60

    • added - thank you
it's wheels look quite skinny compared to a lot of them?

  • +1

Any multi-wagon thread should have a reference to "circle the wagons" (to become defensive). lol

  • +1

    I use a clax cart

    • a unique design
is it in the same category - should i add it?

what do you use it for?

  • +1

Have the $50 kmart one. Mainly use it for the beach. Wheels aren't that great in soft sand when fully loaded (ie two young kids), so next purchase should this one ever break will be one with wider heavy duty wheels (I assume that would help?).

I've seen people use the ones with a canopy to pull along kids at the zoo!

    • it seems to be hard to find ones with wider wheels.
or even to find out how wide the wheels are without measuring yourself.

how wide are the wheels on your Kmart Foldable Beach Trolley?

the Anaconda We Love Summer Beach Wagon says it has 20cm wheels, but i would guess that is the diameter which doesn't mean it's necessarily any wider.

      • +1

They wouldn't be much more than an inch wide? The deluxe ones looks like double that at least.

  • The Big W Hinterland Camp Cart is claiming a weight capacity of 120kg for just $60… should we be skeptical?

  • +1

This is a great post. Nice work. Just an FYI. BCF do two different versions of The Wanderer. You have the red version listed. This is the blue one, which I believe is a newer version.

    https://www.bcf.com.au/p/wanderer-quad-fold-camp-cart/599462…

    • +1

      thanks! 😀

(i think i've got that one)

      • +1

Yeah, I picked mine up from Macpac for $100. I think it's a bargain at that price. The wheels are huge so it helps on the beach and you can get loads in to it. We had two kids and all of our beach stuff on the last trip to the beach.

  • +1

I have the SCA Camp Cart. Would not recommend. The front wheels are weird and often don't turn. I think it's because the supports for the front wheel are almost vertical instead of angled back more, so it prevents the wheels from turning properly.

  • +1

Saw a guy at Costco yesterday using one of the Wanderers. He said he was there to pick up stuff for a party nearby, and then he was going to wheel it over. Said he was catering for 100 people at the park.

    • wow that's a lot of people!

what was he buying to feed them?

  • +1

Rebel Sports Tahwalhi Rugged Beach Cart has a solid lead in the poll.

Many claim it is the same as the BCF Wanderer Quad Folding Camp Cart, but does anyone actually own both and know for sure?

    • +1

It's definitely not the same - the quad folding cart rolls up. The base that sits on the bottom is removable and made up of 4 solid panels, which fold around the 4 legs (hence the quad). It may be similar to the Red wanderer beach cart?

  • new $120 deal on the bcf wanderer rugged posted by bluemagicwind https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/612887

    • Wanderer quad camp cart is $100 at macpac at the moment.

  • added spotlight's mambo beach trolley

  • +1

What's up foldable cart aficionados. I've got a Vuly wagon that we got with our tramp that I actually really like. However, one of the wheels split and under warranty Vuly just sent a whole new cart.

The one downside of the cart is the wheels are a bit thin and wouldn't do too good on sand. So I would ideally like to get new wheels for the other one to improve it (and have 2 working wagons).
Any idea where I could get better wheels (pneumatic possibly). I've looked at bunnings/supercheap, but all of those wheels need a large axle, not the skinny axle on the wagon wheels.

    • ooo looks nice - thank you for telling us about it - i (with assistance from mod hamsa) have added

have you seen their beach edition i also added?

wish i could help you with wheels - they are so hard to find

  • new deals on 4 wagons

  • Is the Rebel one discontinued now? Listed at $75 but out of stock.

    • probably because it was on clearance
      i've updated
      thanks

I'm currently considering the MrBoats wagon - would anyone have any comments or feedback on it (particularly for beach / soft sand usage)?

    • +1

i will add that one - thanks for telling us about it

10cm wide wheels is the max width i know of for sure (not every one describes the tires) so might be good on sand?

    • i added it and hamza will add the poll option for us

it was a bit hard to work out it's name but i did my best

is it on sale because the regular price is supposed to be $185? - maybe you should post it as a deal

  • Mac Sports XL Folding Wagon with Cargo Net $99.99 (Delivered) @ Costco

Wider wheels than the $95 model.

  • DUSC Heavy Duty Folding Wagon 80kg - DFW80KG $99 (30% off) @ Repco

  • I am thinking of getting one of these puppies

    https://www.amazon.com.au/GOR6PS-Heavy-Duty-Convertible-1200…

  • Or this

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/gorilla-carts-200l-poly-dump-car…

My only concern is the steel rusting out.

  • anyone have the Mr Boats one? I love the big wheels. I live in the east in Sydney and with kids I need one for the soft sand. I've been looking at the $79 kmart one too. Carry weight isnt the main issue, more that it folds and under $100

  • Are the wheels on the kmart ones hard plastic or are they tyres with air in them?

It wouldnt be hard to make them wider for sand handling. Just cut a bit of thin sheet metal and fold screw on if it is hard plastic.

    • Hard plastic. But how will it rotate past the arm?

      • Good point. Straighten the existing ones, bend back where you want to, then extend the ends slightly. Something like that. Might be too much hassle for most people unless handy.

Also with the sheet metal, you could do folded cut outs which would wedge into the sand for an easier ride I suppose than any other model can provide. Remove 2 screws when youre back on hard surface with original wheels.

  • What's best one for beach? Thinking of kmart deluxe one which looks to have wide wheels. I take wide wheels are best for beach?
Kmart reviews on deluxe say grest for beach and others say not.
Are the reviews mixed up as kmart sell a non deluxe edition.

Im just curious What's the go for mostly beach use.

  • What's the difference between BCF red and blue one? Different material for the wheel?

  • We've had the Kmart one for 2 years, and use it weekly both at farmer's markets and on picnics. Does the job and is holding up well. Paid $50 for it, and can't imagine how one would justify paying any more than that.

  • This should be wikified!

  • Gorilla Carts sports wagon is exceptional. Its not cheap but well worth the investment
