kmart sells similar thing for 49, what's the difference? (genuine question)

    • I read reviews before saying the Kmart ones' wheels gets stuck at the beach.

    • Weight capacity for kmart is 50kg

    • +4

Read the OP, I included a comparison.

    • I have the kmart one and comparing against the photo of this one, the wheels look much wider on the MacPac one.

The kmart one is so painful to drag through the sand as the wheels are too narrow and cut into the sand.

    • Kmart has this version. Wide wheels, canopy, etc

The one at macpac has the proper beach wheels

    • macpac and BFC have exactly the same wheels? (or are you replying to the kmart comment?)

      • The Kmart has realy skinny wheels no good on sand grass or dirt

  • +2

Wanderer is actually a BCF brand !

    • all under the same company SUL

they own Rebel, Macpac, BCF, SCA

  • +4

I have this and I must say this is a must have if you are going to the beach/camping with your family. Save your shoulders from getting dislocated living by the motto "one trip or die trying". Dumped a tent and camping chairs on it and it's still intact and working well. Got it for $99 before at bcf and thought I had a bargain so at this price you will regret missing out.

    • +1

How does it go on the beach? Pretty well?

      • +4

Yes mate it does. It will feel as if you are stuck at first but as soon as you tug it, the wheels rolls through the sand properly. If you want to travel easier along the beach, go near the shoreline were the sand has been made compact and flat by the water.

PS: just not when the waves are smashing the shoreline of course. you wouldn't want the fish people getting a hold of your gear.

    bcf price match too

  • Genuinely interested in this product. I like that the OP provided comparisons for alternatives and so I checked out the Anaconda one as it appears to have deeper sides. The reviews re: quality are a concern. Are they all like this? https://www.anacondastores.com/water-sports/beach-surf/beach…

Is anyone able to comment as to their own experience with any of the mentioned brands please? Thank you.

    • From everything I've read and while not everyone needs it, having the right wheels for sand is major factor and the anaconda one does not work great on sand.
A friend has a kmart one and happy it does the job said it seemed small
I ended up buying the wanderer and pretty happy with the purchase. Wouldn't be second guessing when it's this price…

  • +1

I know isn’t cheaper but would recommend purchasing this one from kmart https://www.kmart.com.au/product/deluxe-foldable-wagon-with-…
recently bought one and can carry large amount of things, good on sand (similar to wanderer), however has canopy and side storage bag.

    • Depends on your needs.
This KMart one is more expensive, larger, bulkier, and carries less load.
      Maximum weight capacity: 50 kg

      • +1

True, each to thwir own. For me, canopy has been good to keep drinks/food undershade instead exposed on sun and using the storage for rubbish with a bag lining it. Just my two cents worth anyway

        • Good idea that.

      • +1

Tbf, what are you carrying that is 100kg to a beach? I wouldn't trust that small horizontal bracing bar to pull 100kg through sand…

        • +1

two kids + gear would get it up there.

  • Seems to be out of stock in Vic at both Macpac and BCF? Delivery only?

    • I am picking mine up from Nunawading. Post code 3131. They seem to have good stock.

      • Ah yes nevermind - it's now showing in stock!

        • It was available in Nunawading but when I press payment, it is out of Stock.

          Preston is the next available.

hooray i bought this at full price 2 weeks ago

    • +1

      Good on ya, mate.

  • thanks.. grabbed one. Have been looking for one of these for about 2 years now. Refused to pay over $150 for one with fat wheels, so I stubbornly carried hundreds of kgs of crap every beach trip!

  • Thanks OP, bought one for my toddler son. Doesn't seems to be designed for carriing kids, but every one is using one of these at the beach and theme parks for their kids. I guess it's the new trend.

  • This has thicker beach wheels. So moving it around on concrete and roads, like if you take it to the markets etc. Would it be a lot louder wheeling it around than the thiner kmart wheels??

  • buyers be aware. i bought this from BCF, be careful the pivot point where handle bar meets the horizontal strut is weak, and will continue to weaken after salt water use (say beach etc), i had to return mine to BCF and get the updated blue one (double strut, reinforced).. I do like the red colour tho…….

    • Be mindful of the new blue one, reports are that the wheels have bearings…great…until you hit sand. Game over

      • Reviews seem to indicate that the blue one is fine at the beach?

How do people transport this around because it ostensibly isn't foldable?

  • Damn, out of stock already! Guess I'll try on BCF Black Friday deals.

    • BF sale at BCF started yesterday till Sunday. Each store will easily sell out of their entire allotment this week so I would be phoning from 7am every morning to secure yours.

  • Great find, my brother has his Xmas present now!

    Thanks

Not the beach version but with 120kg max load, there's one at BigW for $59. Its their Hinterland brand. I have it and quality looks OK.

  • How does this compare to CostCo I wonder?

  • I went to my local BCF and they checked incoming stock and put it aside for me.

  • If your local BCF doesn't have stock you can request it to be shipped direct to your house for free, mention "save the sale" and go hard. Otherwise most BCF's will take your name and give you a call.

Just got an email; order not able to be fulfilled as it sold out :(

    • Yep, my order was cancelled too. Disappointed.

  • Has anyone had their delivery order shipped yet? Mine is still showing as pending, getting concerned that they might have run out of stock and are going to start cancelling more orders

    • Yes, my two arrived yesterday.
But to be fair, I ordered before I posted this deal :)

      • I just got the call…was one of the first to order when you posted the deal too! They offered to send a Wanderer Quad Fold cart for the same price. Better than nothing!

        • Good deal, better than the original!

          https://www.bcf.com.au/p/wanderer-quad-fold-camp-cart/599462…

          WANDERER QUAD FOLD CAMP CART
          Open Dimensions (cm) L90 x W65 x H102/57
          Packed dimensions (cm) L81 x W46 x H34
          Weight Capacity (kg) 110

          • @TimU: I bought the quad one for the same price as the beach cart. I just showed her the price of the beach cart on my phone and she priced matched it for the quad. Win!

            • @Cheequee: Was this at BCF? Was that because they were out of stock of the red one?

              • @atlas: Yes @ a BCF store. They didn't have any of the 'red ones' on the floor.
But it was mainly because of the check out chick incompetence to identify that this was a different model to the red one I was showing her.

  • Wonder if it'll come back into stock again at a sale price… or if it'll sit at $160 for a long time again :(
