Rex is launching jet flights between Brisbane and Melbourne.

    $71.10 with JQ PM

    How much with SCOMO?

  • Plus the cost of PCR tests before and after arriving?

    • From 17th December, you'll require a negative COVID test within 72 hours of arriving. I don't believe one is required before entering.

Instead of saving 10%, wouldn't you rather the free baggage allowance, free refreshments and COVID refund guarantee?

    • Didn't realise the Jetstar price match doesn't included baggage.
I guess the only benefit to Jetstar would be if your flight gets cancelled they have more flights going so the wait will not be as long.

  • Looks like VA has matched the price on some flights/dates as well. Great for those with VA lounge, travel bank, etc.

I wouldn't recommend price matching. Better to support Rex as much as possible. Competition benefits everyone in the long run. If people don't support Rex, they will disappear as an alternative carrier and then once they do, all fares will ultimately go up.

    • I generally won't price match because I'd rather give my money to the business giving me a better deal.
But I will price beat…because I'd rather give my money to the business giving me a better deal.

      • For the sake of $7.90 on an already super low fare, if I was flying to Brisbane I would pick Rex over Jetstar. Remember that without Rex, your one way fare to Brisbane would be in the 3 digit dollar range.

        • I do sort of agree in this context. For the sake of $7.90, not having to deal with Jetstar customer service and also not having to fly Jetstar is pretty good.

TBH I tend to fly Virgin most of the time because they just get on with flying planes, meanwhile the CEO's of Qantas and Rex seem to be in constant squabbles about who is being the most anti-competitive and who is looking after regional travellers.

  • Just tried a price match with Jetstar and they won't do it, they won't match Rex's promo fares, only the community fares.
