830

Bunnings have a great deal on their landing page for an Esatto 474L French Door Refrigerator for $899 including Free delivery to metro areas across Australia. This puts it well ahead of the ALDI equivalent deal and it's a better height at 1775mm high. It has a 3.5 star energy rating and inverter compressor and looks incredibly similar to a Samsung model (same factory?). You can also register it with Esatto to get 3 years warranty (normally 2) here.

Unfortunately, Canberra is not regarded as metro, and delivery is $100.

I've got an Esatto dishwasher and it's been surprisingly excellent given how cheap it was (something like $350 delivered from Appliances Online at the time). Would give this a go if I was in the market for a new fridge.

    • do you have a link of dishwasher?

      • +1

It's this one, but it was a lot cheaper when I bought it (probably a year or so ago now): https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/esatto-edw7cs-fr…

      • There's a pretty cheap Technika at the good guys, under 400 and there was a cash back last time I looked to take another 40 off, reviews were decent, I was thinking of maybe not buying the basic Bosch one that's served well so far for my next purchase.

  • looks the same as the Seiki 474L and Seiki 474L .

How are the Seiki 474L and Seiki 474L different?

      • +2

Sadly no coffee yet, I mean euromaid and seiki.

Haha, I had to read and re-read that statement to see if I missed a number or something

      • How are the Seiki 474L and Seiki 474L different?

one with extra space and a dot

  • +14

Refrigerator is built by Hefei Hualing Co Ltd who appear to make an almost identical product for Kogan, Stirling (ALDI), Euromaid, Midway, Seiko and a dozen other companies I've never heard of.

    • Hualing is now under Midea.

    • +8

The refrigerator is made by Midea — who also manufacture models for Electrolux, Bosch, Whirlpool, GE and many more.

Bought the 4 Star 535L SS 2 door Fridge/ Freezer from Astivita - also made by Midea.

Well built & quiet. Has been working great for over 2 years - definitely a bargain for $314 delivered (negotiated discount)!

        • Great price. How do you negotiate on amazon?

          • @bargainHunterOz: Direct with Astivita through Deal.
There were errors on Amazon listing & Deal, which I helped correct. So they gave $100 refund on $414 fridge I had bought.

  • +2

We live within Melbourne metro areas and apparently Bunnings thinks otherwise, it’s showing $80 delivery :(

  • +4

Got to compare specs with fridges.

Pay a bit more for more energy efficiency and it will pay back it self in three years.

    • +2

3.5 stars isn't that bad really. In comparison, this Westinghouse of similar size, costs $900 more and is only 3 stars.

      • +4

        After some calculations on energyrating.gov.au/calculator
I found that I would save $30 over 10 yr if I can buy a $1300 5 star energy rating fridge. lol

        • +1

I found that I would save $30 over 10 yr if I can buy a $1300 5 star energy rating fridge. lol

          Correct but also wrong.

I've got a 432L Chiq (Top Mount) which is 4 stars ($841 over 10 years, 5 year warranty) and uses about 330kwh a year on the energy ratings guide and cost me $650.

For an extra 42L this Esatto isn't tested but it is somewhere between the 413L and 529L 3.5 star $960 - $1153 over 10 years.

It is tough to find a cheap fridge and efficient.

          • @netjock: Cheap & efficient - but no longer available…

Over 2 years ago bought new 4 Star 535L SS 2 door Fridge/ Freezer from Astivita for $314 delivered.

Same manufacturer as fridge in this Deal.

Power Meter shows its operating around the specified annual 333KWh in warmer Qld.
I was pleasantly surprised - given the low price!

            • +1

@INFIDEL: The 535L I also saw available at Kogan with exactly same power consumption previously for $615 before delivery.

Problem is cheap fridges don't come along when you need it. You can only look for best price when you do need one.

              • @netjock: Same fridge made by Midea, according to comments. (But twice price I paid!)

Yes, fridges can fail without notice & when there are no great Deals.

My 45 year old fridge (inherited from family & repaired by me) compressor failed & that Deal appeared. Amazingly for it's age, it was still fairly efficient - monitored by Power Meter it plugged into.

Doubt cheap fridges will last long. Mine's working great at almost 2.5 years.

Costs $60/yr to operate, based on actual measurement & electricity rates
energyrating.gov.au/calculator quotes $94.43 - nearly 60% higher than actual cost!

                • @INFIDEL: Expect 5 years out of even a cheap fridge to be honest. But then some people abuse their fridges trying to cram stuff in etc.

Costs $60/yr to operate, based on actual measurement & electricity rates
energyrating.gov.au/calculator quotes $94.43 - nearly 60% higher than actual cost!

333kwh and $60 is $0.18 per kwh. I assume you got solar so day time it is free and you're probably only paying for evenings?

Believe fridges are more efficient when they are loaded as food obviously when cold keeps it cool rather than it having to cool cold air in an empty fridge.

Some of the cheap side by side / french door fridges are quoting 500kwh+ (prices start from $800 before delivery), just can't justify it. If they can make a 400L - 550L fridge use 333kwh how come these side by side / french doors are so inefficient.

                  • @netjock: Modern fridges - built to be shipped around the world, are built light. Compressors fail earlier.
Old fridges used in family, still operated after 60 years - had exposed compressor. Expect a hernia moving those!

Having maintained & repaired family fridges… I look after my fridge.
In family rental property, tenant left fridge door open - compressor failed. Buying a new fridge because someone wouldn't close a door - annoying & expensive.

At $314 delivered, I figured on a relatively short lifespan in my calculations. Its already met that estimate. Will be renting or selling house, so will not be keeping / transporting.

                    For same reason, no solar.
Consumes under 333KWH shown on Power Meter fridge is plugged into, @18.4c/KWH = ~$60/yr. (Not even lowest rate available.)

I keep freezer packs in fridge / freezer to even out any thermal changes - might improve efficiency. And packs are always ready for use.

Traditional 2 door fridges rate as more efficient. Did my research before purchase. No fancy & inefficient fridge necessary.

    • +1

Pay a bit more for more energy efficiency and it will pay back it self in three years.
      Not in my case.

Be cautious with estimates of savings based on star rating.

My $314 535L 4 star fridge costs $60/yr to operate, based on actual power consumption measurement (plugged into Power Meter) & electricity rates. Similar to power use estimate (333KWH) on sticker.

      energyrating.gov.au/calculator quotes $94.43 - 57% higher than actual cost!
(Due to high quoted electricity price)

A similar fridge at that time with 4.5 stars cost $600 more - equivalent to 10 years electricity consumption of my fridge, at current rates!

Sales staff can use those inflated savings estimates to justify sale of dearer fridge - making out it will be cheaper.

Elderly relatives were almost conned like that into replacing their old fridge. "Your ancient, inefficient fridge is about to die" & "buying this brand new fridge will save you money"…
I intervened - showing their fridge was quite efficient, using a Power Meter. Replaced the door seals & compressor relay to improve its operation & efficiency.
The $1000+ purchase would have had little benefit. The fridge outlasted them, becoming my fridge until the compressor died so many years later

Do your own calculations based on annual KWH estimate on sticker.

      • On the calculator you can select the state and rate.

        • Automatically selected my State. But rate is fixed…
Unless you click you're not in that State - then you can set the rate!!

Only discovered that due to your comment!
Not intuitive for the average user!

          BUT using Star rating…
After changing electricity rate, entering fridge capacity & star rating… it still over estimates cost of operation!!
          Actual annual cost $60
Site estimate $74.14! 24% too high!
Closer than $94.43, but still wrong.

Using make & model number was
          accurate!
Or by changing to estimated annual consumption shown on sticker (333KWH).
Both ways, it does correctly calculate the estimated annual cost @$61.27.

BUT then it shows no comparison between different star rated models!!

If you know the estimated consumption (shown on rating sticker), any calculator can give that figure easier!

          Can be very inaccurate!

    • The problem is stars literally mean nothing to an engineer.
What's the min, avg and max W?
      Here's 7* for your comment.

    • Not if you have solar power.

  • +2

Would've been perfect if it had a plumbed water dispenser at the front.

  • +11

Draw me like one of your French door fridges!

  • +3

If it's the same as the Seiki, wouldn't it be a better deal thru Appliances Online including delivery, removal of old appliance etc?

    • +1

It says this service is not available if you search “removal”.

      • +1

Removal of the old appliance? They may have some restrictions around covid perhaps? I'm in Perth, have ordered a fridge and TV recently and they'd take the old one no questions but we haven't had many/any restrictions here for a long time.

Even if they don't take the old one, surely it's a better deal than people posting above saying $80-100 delivery for metro areas?

        • Seiki only has 2 year warranty and no after sales service if something goes wrong.

        • +2

They took my old washing machine no problem about a month ago here in Sydney.

    • Also slightly bigger fridge here for $969. https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/seiki-545l-frenc…

  • -1

I think the Aldi is a better product. It has chilled water in the door and is only 790mm wide, so it fits in my kitchen. It's also a 4 star MEPS, and the darker stainless steel finish which looks more contemporary. 3 year warranty too.

    • The ALDI one is 1800mm high, so won't fit the standard Australian fridge cavity and 730mm deep, so it will stick out. The Esatto model is 1775mm high and counter depth at 653mm. The ALDI one also has a much smaller fridge/freezer cavity @ 419L.

      • Plus delivery starts at $99 for ALDI one and for me (30 mins from Brisbane), delivery is unavailable?!

  • +2

Looks like the title of this post has changed few times already (it read @Bunnings earlier), so don’t know what will be there when you read this comment, but just be aware that this fridge is sold by a 3rd party. You can’t rely on Bunnings for aftersales service or warranty, you can’t use any of the services offered by Bunnings when purchasing either (e.g: pickup/return at store, use bunnings gift cards or 10% price beat). Read their marketplace FAQ for more details.

  • Apparently a lot of Melbourne metro areas are not metro areas according to bunnings.

  • +1

Would definitely go with the Seiki/Appliances Online product since these are the basically the same fridges, but with AP offering free removal of your old fridge if you want that.

  • I’ve called Bunnings questioning about the postage (I live within Melbourne metro but it shows $80 postage on the website) and the representative said if I put in an order and paid full, I could just call them again and have the postage refunded. They can’t waive it upon placing the order because it is sold by 3rd party seller.

  • +2

I regret buying this design of fridge. It turns out to be much less space compared to a 2 door side to side fridge with one side freezer and the other fridge. Also more cumbersome to use with opening and closing all those doors. This is my opinion but hope you will consider it when buying one

    • @mutantdoc, I agreed. I have LG french door and it sucks. It isn't as great as a normal one. I do prefer the freezer tray in the lower part though.

  • OP is associated with Residentia Group. The store and account has been penalised for sockpuppeting but the deal will remain published due to interest.

    • +2

      how are they penalised?

how did you find out they are associated? was it the way they badmouthed all the competition?

      • The account and store have been temporarily banned. Sorry we can't reveal any additional information.

    • Looks like the same model as Seiki based on many of the specs but at a higher price

  • Are Esatto any good? looking for a smaller fridge. Is the Esatto 203L Top Mount Refrigerator ETM203W for $500 a good price?

    • Can't comment on their fridges but have had a dishwasher for about 2.5 years. Hasn't missed a beat, great for the price. I'd definitely consider them

    • I got their heat pump dryer from their last sale on here and it's been fantastic. I'm guessing Fridges may be a bit more complex though.

    • Its not so much the brand, but the manufacturer Midea that is important in fridges. It manufacturers a lot of fridges.

I have a very cheap fridge, manufactured by Midea, sold under a different brand, that I am very happy with.

Seems Esatto has goods made for them, with their brand added. So different appliances may come from different manufacturers & quality may vary.

  • Lol what happened to OP

  • If I have 1760mm clearance, you reckon I'd get away with it with lowering the feet?

  • 3.5star not very efficient. Less space

  • I have this fridge and it's been pretty good so far, really decent quality/price ratio

    • Thanks for the input! ….wait, you're not "associated" are you??

      • absolutely not, Im just some guy who bought this model (not from Bunnings though)
The fridge is chinese but build quality is decent.
Bought it 1.5 years ago and so far I had no issues. It's quite silent, temperature settings are easy enough
Only thing I find annoying is that it makes a beep sound every time you open it,which is a bit annoying (and useless), and there is no way to disable it (as far as I know)
A sound playing when you forget it open would be the only istance where it would actually be useful, however the option is not there lol

  • How is Esatto's support for warranty and are they based in Aus?

  • Anyone received the fridge yet?

    • +2

      Not received this product yet.
      Ordered 17/11/21
On 1/12/21 received email from RESIDENTIA GROUP
indicating shipment delayed to their warehouse May arrive there 9/12/21.
They have offered me a free Solt Kettle and Toaster for the delay for which I have emailed my acceptance.

Since then I have had no response from them.
