[eBay Plus] Breville The Oracle Coffee Machine Black Sesame $1799 Delivered @ Bing Lee eBay

820
PLBFSS

Last time it was this price was Dec 2020 on Myer EBay and they never shipped the orders.

I’ve got this machine and I’ve had an express and a 920. This one is hands down, the best. Once you’ve used the auto tamp there’s no going back. Auto milk frother is a rippa too. Can make a proper coffee every morning in under 2 mins with machine all cleaned up. Also fantastic when you are hosting guests. Worth every cent

    • Insides are the same according to Breville rep I spoke to in the store. Even she said it's not worth it

You can try your luck with HN to match it if they have the same colour, but doubt they will honour the Ebay code discount..
I wouldn't get the touch, over priced ($3500) for not much extras and probably more things that could break down. For non touch Oracle at $1799 is very cheap.. If I were to spend $3500 I would consider Italian double boiler machines at this price.

No regrets after buying this machine

So easy to use and no mess from coffee grinds, just make sure you use good quality coffee beans and it will make cafe quality coffee at home

love all the people that obsess over their coffee. (my grown kids are the same) I just open my tin of instant Nescafe Espresso, take some out, put in a cup with sugar and sometimes coffee mate, milk and or light cream and boiling water. Done. Tastes good, no extra costs and no hassle. When feeling extra adventurous I use some of the Nescafe cappuccino sachets….now that is living hahahahahahaha

    • +3

haha I have this oracle yet my wife sounds exactly like you. Does my head in but I'm stuck with her now

    • Nothing wrong with instant. Each coffee has its purpose! Even with my Oracle and 11000+ shots over 8 years of a variety of blends and single origin beans (coffee snob!), I still drink Moccona instant decaf coffee (no sugar, half milk) at work!

      • I'm the same, I'll just have the best available. My local cafe near work was churning out these bitter coffees day after day that had me wincing as I consumed it. So switched to Moccona, which isn't as good as a half decent espresso, but it's inoffensive, so better than a bad coffee. Now I have my Aeropress and a hand grinder at work.

        • try Nescafe Blend 43 (I use the Espresso version) much better than Moccona IMO…but that is just me. I can't stand Moccona

    • Question, for research purposes… when you are out and buy a coffee from a cafe, do you ask for it extra hot?

      • I don't go to cafe's for coffee, but if I am in a hotel and having breakfast (that is included) I HATE it when coffee is cold! If they have the boiling water pot I will top it up with that. I have found so many times when someone makes me a coffee from their home machine it seems to be tepid, so not exactly something I enjoy.

        • The reason why coffee cups are sitting on the top of the machine to warm up - there is no much you an do about temperature.
Espresso shot is always 90 something degrees. I believe 93 C is "the standard" and some machines allow you to tweak 1 or 2 degree more or less but that supposed to affect the taste.
Steamed milk - 60 C is considered the absolute maximum you can go - after that point the milk will get "cooked milk smell".

So for correctly done milk based espresso drink you will get somewhere around 60C because the amount of milk is greater than amount of espresso.
One thing can help - warming up the cup with hot water before making the drink - this way the drink is not loosing the heat to the cup. But this is the only way to make milk based drink "hotter".

For most people 60C is hot enough.

If you are making black drink (long black, adding hot water to espresso) you can add boiling water and will get it really hot.

          • @SickDmith: I froth to 58 degrees at maximum. The milk does get burnt after 60 degrees and destroys the flavour of milk

A couple things I did consider when deciding on buying an Oracle or BES920 & Smart Grinder Pro was one, cost and two, upgrade path.

Five years ago I could buy a BES920 & SGP for less $900 on special (although I think the best lately has been nearer $1200 mark for the pair)? I believe five years ago the Oracle was nearer the $2.5k mark but I could be wrong? Essentially same machines just with integrated SGP and auto steam wand on the Oracle.

Now with the Oracle if Breville had upgraded the integrated grinder (bigger/flat burrs, motor) over the stock SGP I think it would have tipped me in favour of the Oracle.

Five years later i'm feeling the need to upgrade the SGP which is easy to do as its separate. Unlike the Oracle which I would have to replace the whole machine in order to just upgrade the grinder.

Having said that, there's a lot to be said for the Oracle ease of use, quick operation and consistent end result. Add fresh beans, dial in the grind and you're already halfway home, the Oracle pretty much does the rest for you!

    • I actually have some old-faithful blend beans in the built in grinder hopper. My wife uses this as it is simple, consistent and all I have to do is keep topping the hopper up.

In my separate grinder, sits my unwashed single origin beans. So you can still justify an upgraded standalone grinder, if you really want nice beans which your partner might not appreciate (my wife does not like the more acidic taste of single origin coffee)

    920 is better because

    • you save the money to get a much better grinder than the inbuilt one in 980
    • it can be modded to do Slayer shots
    • Do you loose hot water wand outlet when doing the mod?

      • Yeah, that's true. I assume everyone has a kettle though. 😉

    • I don't know what a Slayer shot is, but I'm pretty sure I want one

    • The Oracle can be programmed for "almost" Slayer shots too. In the standard menu, you can set the pre-infusion pressure as low as you want and duration for up to 20 seconds.

      • +1

Some people do this to their BES920 too. Probably it is going to kill the pump even faster. But who cares - these pumps are consumables anyway.

But low pressure extraction is not pressure profiling.

      • What you described is nowhere near a Slayer shot. Slayer shot is pressure profiling or flow profiling. It's essential to modify the variable, either the pressure or the flow, throughout the shot.

  • Fudge no more? Can't seem to get it anymore.
Damn snoozed on this for too long

    • Yes OOS !!

    • Can get it direct from bing lee for $100 more

      • Can't find on website

    • Ahh wells thats 1.8k saved I suppose

    • harvey norman should be getting stock, wont be online only instore

Got the same email… so purchased again from JB HiFi - same price + $6.95 shipping.

      • +1

Did the same. Used 6.5% gift cards so ended up being cheaper than Bing Lee anyways :)

(Couldnt be bothered battling the crowds for tomorrows 15% discount cards)

        • How did you go about getting 6.5% JB gift cards?

      • I’ve just done a similar thing. I paid $1779 in store at JB HiFi plus paid $164 for 3 year extended warranty (I’ve read 2 people used their Harvey Norman warranty around the 5 year mark). Well done using JB gift cards!

  • I notice only the black sesame is on special, where there is a black truffle for $800 more. I presume they are replacing black sesame with black truffle? What's the difference, just the colour? (if that)

    • Yes, buy the Black Sesame (boring black) to save ~$900 over Black Truffle (intriguing black). Note: Black Sesame may not be eligible for the Bonus offer, I’ll try my luck…

      • Yeah I noticed no bonus offer, but that ain't $900 worth

  • Does anyone know how to get an invoice from Bing Lee for the machine when purchased via eBay? I want to try my luck at the redemption offer but didnt get one in the delivery…

Should come with the shipment from memory. Will say eBay sale on it though, but it's a standard Bing Lee invoice. This is older info, but has been my experience buying from Bing Lee.

      • I’ve messaged them to ask for a copy, there was nothing in the box :(

        • +1

Ahhh ok, they'll give you one. It goes through their system as a normal transaction.

    • +1

send them message in ebay and provide email address and they will send invoice within hours.

      • accurate - theyve responded asking for the best email to send to. fingers crossed for the promotion redemption now
