Exclusive Sony Centre Sale Event - QLD
Dates: THURSDAY 22nd March – SATURDAY 31ST MARCH, 2012

Deal is similar to an earlier expired deal.

The standout for me was the Sony BDPS780 Blu-ray player. Sony's top of the line blu-ray with built-in wireless N, DLNA support, 3D, iTV, and all the usual bells and whisles.

I really like Sony's iTV offerings and their DLNA support. Much better than Samsung's, IMO.

Anyway the price is $184 pickup (RRP$379), cheapest on shopbot is $247.50. Video Pro have it for $217.80 inc shipping.

I got mine at the Robina Sony Store and they had >10 left as of late this afternoon. They also had the S580 on sale but I don't remember the price.

  • arent sony retail stores in qld vidpro?

    • The Robina one isn't. No mention of videopro anywhere is the store that I could see. Just Sony.

      • They are. Their not supposed to advertise it as they are ment to look like a Sony store. All Sony centres are franchised. In NSW they are run by Bing Lee. They do get exclusive deals from Sony but only ment to sell them through there Sony Centre stores. FYI if U do look closely you will see they're selling sonos there. Which is not a Sony product and when I worked there we were not aloud to have it. That's from VP.

        • Interesting. Never knew that. They do a good job of hiding it. Just checked my receipt and no mention of VideoPro on it either.

  • I picked up the Sony BDPS780 Blu-ray player from the Melbourne Sony store. I know Melbourne City and Sony Chapel Street had stock. They had quite a few in stick. I figure they are clearing out the 2011 models as the 2012 ones will be here soon. Anyway, half price ($184) for a top end DVD player with iView, SBS and 7Catchup was too good to pass up. I also picked up the Sony Skype camera that connects to this Bluray player. This was also half price was $198, reduced to $99.

  • Do the Logitech Harmony Region Free CodesBluRay/DVD) work on this model?

    • No idea. I've got a Harmony remote, but no Region A blu-rays to test it.

I have tested, and can confirm, that it's automatically region-free for DVD out-of-the-box. It does a pretty good job of up-scaling to 1080p.

  • OK..
I am in Sydney and called up the 2 Sony Centres in Sydney to see if they can price match it.
Surprisingly, both were very unco-operative (meaning, they wouldnt price match!).
They quoted me a very special price of $299 including a FREE Skype camera. Pooh !

Then ended up calling up the Brisbane store in QLD and talked to Roger there. I must tell you, he has been most kind and polite, and very willing to take my money. I paid for it and he is shipping (shipping almost for free) it out to me today, with a free BD movie.
